Description

Let's spread the love and review games! For this month of February let's offer feedback to developers and educate potential players on the quality of games!

To enter and receive credit for this event, please do the following:
Step 1: Sign up for the event by clicking "Sign Up" at the top of the user list:

Step 2: Write your review(s), keeping in mind our submission rules. Please make the reviews as insightful and engaging as possible! A member of staff may proofread the review for minor spelling and grammatical faults or inconsistencies.

Step 3: Submit your review(s) to the appropriate game page(s).

Be sure to include your score (if any) and an appropriate title:

Step 4: Wait for the review to be approved. It may take up to a week. You might receive feedback on how to improve your review before approval. If the time elapses before your review is added, I (Liberty) will make a note as to which reviews are still in the queue and count them towards your total when they are accepted. (They must be of proper quality. Spamming the queue with shit/placeholder reviews will see them ignored.)

Step 5: Submit the approved review to this event page by clicking the "submit" button on the top-right corner of the page.

Step 6: Repeat for each qualified review. To receive credit, each review must be submitted to this page by the 1st of March deadline!

Step 7: For a certain amount of reviews you will get an upgrade on your badge as well as your MS score.

Step 8: To receive the Jammy Dodger Badge, you must review seven (7) of the possible McBacon Jam games (bar your own, of course). Each of these reviews will also count towards your total.

IMPORTANT: Users must sign up for this event and submit their reviews to this event page to receive credit. Make sure to submit each review: the event page allows multiple submissions.

One (1) achievement will be issued to each user, and it will be based on the number of reviews he/she submitted. The only exception to this is the McBacon Game Jam games, which will give their own badge when all sever (7) required reviews are done. (They will still count towards the total score of your reviews though.)

Reviews are subject to approval per normal RMN procedures; if your review is denied, improve it and resubmit! Staff reserves the right to deny any review based on the Submission Rules. We are hoping for high quality reviews!

The deadline is March 1st, 2015, at Midnight UTC. Reviews must be submitted to this page by this point. (Those that are in the queue will be added to your total if they are accepted by site staff.)

All of RMN's normal policies and procedures apply.

77 reviews! Not counting the ones that needed links on the thread. Very nice!
And I finally contributed to an event! Woo-hoo! :D

P.S. : So, are we getting our achievements tommorow then?

It could take a while, actually. It took us roughly a month to get our "Revive the Dead" achievements.

OH DAAAAAAAAAAMN! D:
I just want to make sure everyone put up the links so that we know we have everything covered. If no more links appear by tonight, I'll just go ahead and dole out the goods. ^.^)b

77 in less than a month is brilliant, but just because the event is over, doesn't mean you should stop reviewing either. The site always needs more.
Yup! And now that there's a handy little link on the game summary in the game list that lets you know if a game has a review, we can easily cover those that don't!

I know, I'm so chuffed about that little addition...and I finally managed to work out how I got my numbers wrong, two of those awards aren't part of the counting system. Nessy definitely deserves her special badge. :)

I wonder if it'd be helpful to get a list of people that specifically "want" reviews. For example if we got a thread going that people can put down their games. I know there's separate "let's play" request threads, but if there was a centralized thread for everyone that wants a review, then that'd be great. Because I know of a few developers that have got reviews that don't necessarily want them, whereas there are people who've been pining for a review for years and they haven't got one. I feel like I should create this thread myself instead of just talking about it, but I'd have to think how it'd work first.

Edit: Just to clarify, I've got my own thread where people can request reviews, but to have a generalized place where people don't have to create their own thread, but can pull from a pool of those games that want a review without setting themselves up to be obligated to review any request that comes their way.

It's the difference between eating whatever dinner you've been given, and being given a choice buffet of delectables to eat. Creating a pool of games that reviewers can pick from would be a nice thing.
I've been thinking about a topic like that for a while, too. No time like the present, I guess. Here: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/17404/

Edit: And achieves have been dealt. If you've a question or I missed someone, let me know and I'll rectify. Thanks all for the great event! You did awesome guys! :DDD
Thanks Liberty!

I really think the pick inspired us all!!! ;)

Everyone wants reviews, because reviews equal more downloads.

Even bad reviews than having no review at all.

Actually Kory if this event taught us anything it is that some developers do not. Link specifically asked for no reviews, most of the Bacon Jam participants were happy to get them, as long as they were unscored. Quite a lot of devs who have demo's out don't want a review as such, just feedback, though they won't complain too vociferously if they get that feedback via a review. Allowing people to indicate in a dedicated thread that they do specially want them and what they are looking for is not a bad idea.

Sadly, that really isn't true. I've had at least one developer completely flip out over the fact that I did a Let's Play and review of one of his games.

Did they indicate anywhere on the gamepage they didn't want one? A reviewer isn't a mind reader and unless they tell you they aren't looking for feedback in that format how are you to know?
I don't think RedWall10 had anything on his gamepage at the time, but you can also say I was a bit of a jerk as well since I went onto Let's Play and review two more of his games even though I knew he didn't like the criticism or feedback.

Oh, those games, yeah I couldn't get past the language and that's saying something.

I've had a significant case of backlash to one of my reviews, which led to the developer getting banned. So yes, I think there are several people who don't like reviews for incomplete games, especially negative ones, even if they're unstarred.
