Description

The dead armies of games forgotten lurk in the dark, waiting for unsuspecting developers to lose their way on the path to their current games and stop in their tracks to think of days gone by.

It's time to dig them up from their early graves and release them on the world come this Hallowe'en.

Yup, it's that time of year again! Combining Release Something and the annual Halloween event, we task you with taking an old, abandonned game, shining it up and letting it run free in the fields of 2019.

Rules
- Start on October 1st
- Finish by October 30th
- Game MUST be abandoned. In this case, not worked on for at least a few months or put aside whilst you worked on something else. It can be game ideas that you threw away and didn't get far into creation, too.
- There needs to be a decent chunk of work done on it over the course of the month.
- Any engine, any resources, etc
- Must have a game page made and accepted to the site BEFORE the end date.

To Submit:
- You need a gamepage that has been accepted to the site (either newly made or an older one from the initial creation of the game)
- Sign up to this page as a participant.
- Click the Submit button at the top-right of the page.
- Upload the game to your gamepage.
- Choose the proper download for the game from the drop-down list and hit Submit.

Badges
- A badge for those who release a full game - 60 MS
- A badge for those who release a demo - 30 MS
- A badge for those who take part in at least one of the prompts that will put up over the course of the month to showcase progress made - 10 MS

my project isn't just old and dead, it's at the point where I think anyone that even remembered it ever existed has died of old age but...still stoked for this event.

(I'm not great at using RMN, is there away to turn off notifications for this thread?)

Nope, unless you leave the event (sign off).

There is no escape.
I'm thinkin' I'll finally try to bring my Survival Horror project to life, tis being the season for horror and all. It'll likely end up being just a demo, but I think I can make some decent progress ^^

Gaspu, a secret weapon!
Tbh I'm kinda addicted to notifications so I'm not gonna turn mine off unless it gets unbearable.

Meanwhile, I've managed to put together a minigame with visually interesting graphics! Hopefully tomorrow night when I get back on my desktop I'll be able to continue my progress. For tonight tho, I've got a lot of other things to handle.

(Also, I could really use some play testers soon. It may be a week or two until chapter 8 has more content, but the other previous chapters could definitely use some looking at.)
Oh boy, I'm so conflicted about joining this one... On one hand, I have a little project that I would love to give a shot at it again, now that I have a lot more experience under my belt... but on the other hand, I really want to finish my current project soon, at least a demo or little beta, because I took it as a personal challenge to finish it before mid-November.

Hmm... Fuck it, let's do this, for the Makerscore! A little change of pace could be great to get back the inspiration.

I have a lot less motivation/desire/willpower for this than I thought. Like, I'm beginning to think that if I could at least submit something for Libby's game, I'd consider myself lucky.

So, moving goalposts so that even mediocre "progress" is still progress?
A week has passed already! O_O

Well, I rewrote my old design document and began drawing templates for the battle backgrounds. I kept only the bare minimum in terms of story and dialogues. I'd estimate the game to be less than 2 hours long.
Hopefully I'll be able to make a game page next week.

So, development begins.
I'm trying to resurrect an old horror game of mine which I wanted to do for RMN's Halloween Event of 2016.

Still lots of WIP material, like the tilesets, but we're off to a good start!

Who knows, maybe I'll be able to give this a go towards the second half of Oktober, we'll see.

weird idea i had awhile back about jumping off your own projectiles. No idea if I'll take it far. I'm mostly resurrecting the style/story of the game but ugh not sure if I wanna do a jump puzzler or more straight forward action game.
A question, I think I understood right, I had ideas from my first RPG Maker VX project that I made in 2006 I think it was, or else 2007. If I try and make something in RPG Maker MV with those ideas can that count? I never uploaded anything to do with it on the net as at the time it was a practice game for me.

I'd like to enter and try to work with that idea if I can, otherwise I have very old footage of a youtube video with my third or fourth ever VX game.

I know the video says 2014, but it was a backuped video so it's actually way older than that. You can tell by the video it's also spooky-themed.

If I can't do the first idea I'm happy to do the second, but would prefer my first idea?

Afaik, there's absolutely no problem with working with that first idea! Heck, IIRC, you can even use old ideas that you had in mind but never put in any "tangible" form. There's no need for any "proof" of it existing before.
