Description

The dead armies of games forgotten lurk in the dark, waiting for unsuspecting developers to lose their way on the path to their current games and stop in their tracks to think of days gone by.

It's time to dig them up from their early graves and release them on the world come this Hallowe'en.

Yup, it's that time of year again! Combining Release Something and the annual Halloween event, we task you with taking an old, abandonned game, shining it up and letting it run free in the fields of 2019.

Rules
- Start on October 1st
- Finish by October 30th
- Game MUST be abandoned. In this case, not worked on for at least a few months or put aside whilst you worked on something else. It can be game ideas that you threw away and didn't get far into creation, too.
- There needs to be a decent chunk of work done on it over the course of the month.
- Any engine, any resources, etc
- Must have a game page made and accepted to the site BEFORE the end date.

To Submit:
- You need a gamepage that has been accepted to the site (either newly made or an older one from the initial creation of the game)
- Sign up to this page as a participant.
- Click the Submit button at the top-right of the page.
- Upload the game to your gamepage.
- Choose the proper download for the game from the drop-down list and hit Submit.

Badges
- A badge for those who release a full game - 60 MS
- A badge for those who release a demo - 30 MS
- A badge for those who take part in at least one of the prompts that will put up over the course of the month to showcase progress made - 10 MS

Posts

Okay, so there have been 8 posts since my post and none of them said that I can't resurrect a super duper crazy old project, so I went ahead and signed up.

backstage 2 needs to be finished for some reason the creator just gave up and cancelled it.

If the dev comes back during October they can finish it then.

Keep in mind that you don't need to actually finish the game, you can just release a demo!

Also, if you have a group game you want to revive with other devs, I'll be taking the names this time off the game pages, so have one person sign up here and then work together and upload the game in question. As long as they're credited as devs on the gamepage for the game, I'll count them for the badges (my way of getting around the issue we had).

I finally finished my revive the dead game from 2014! I think I'll sit this one out, maybe I'll try for the next one
Aha. AHAHAHAHAHA.

Not happening. XD Basically every game I got into a pseudo-prototype stage has stayed at that stage because they were way too huge and ambitious.

Like...I might have one, ONE that's small enough to maybe be doable. And it's one that literally only exists in a state of one notepad document and a single text-only cutscene.

Well, I'll see.

If I DO get back into RPGmaking, I have a much bigger project that I've wanted to finish for a while now, and 3 more gimmick/puzzle-filled dungeons and tricky combat encounters are NOT doable in a month, no way no how!

It was gonna be an official group event, but the event page got borked (I got locked into no-team limbo while it was changed to a team event). I'd suggest asking if you can do a group project and get the points given to your timtam team manually.

!! Oh?
I definitely have some projects on the back burner...this could be a great opportunity to finally try and make some progress
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Time to do my annual one month of work on Iniquity & Vindication before abandoning it again

if not, boo-urns

...I was saying boo-urns...
So, the game I want to raise from the dead has been abandoned more or less since RPG Maker 2001 was new. I remember settings and characters and ideas for a few mechanics in my head, but the actual project is so long-abandoned it has been lost for over 10 years so I can't even reference it, I'm just going on memory.

Is it still eligible?

If so, SIGN ME THE FUDGE UP! (er, by which I mean, I will sign up myself, like you do)

if not, boo-urns
THat's fine as long as it's substantial enough to have a game page. ^.^)b

I'm working on a remake of my old 333 event project Crypt Challenge, obviously called Crypt Challenge DX. Wish me luck!

p.s. I know one of the rules of the 333 event was to not make a game page for the game we made for the event, but this is a brand new game, I assure you!

Oh. It's a one person one : ( Woulda loved to revive da Art game.

I'm actually quite surprised by the mapping of Iwayama. Like, I'm sure I only had RTP at the time. I mean, come on, it was initially made during the VX Ace Nugget Crash Course! For what it's worth, there was a revision since then that made some improvements. Still, it might not hurt to throw some Modern Day Tileset into the mix. How much I'll probably need to re-map makes my head hurt a bit, though. Ugh.

I absolutely want a different location for the areas where you encounter foes, though. I've also had a non-zero amount of thought-processes about the TP skills. Personally speaking, I only really ever use two out of the four that are possible, so, if I can manage maybe three skills, I think I would feel a bit better.
Sounds like a fun event. I might have just the thing, too.
Yes! I'm excited to do another release the dead!

Now I just gotta go through my dusty forgotten projects...

My hope is that I actually find a better project to reanimate, considering Town of Paper was kind of difficult for me to do (and I lost the files for that one)
I am really hoping I can finally get Jello and the Valley of Duh finished this time around. Last time there was a revive the dead event, I managed to dig it out and polish up what I already had, but due to main project and other event games, it's sorta been off to the wayside, only just barely getting chapter seven finally completed after occasional work on it. With it now at the last chapter, I should be able to get it released after COUNTLESS YEARS of being in development. I just hope I don't overscope it or get snagged on anything I haven't figured out entirely.

Cap, if you revive Might be Magic, I would heavily suggest removing GTBS. I found the system very hard to work with there, and in Nakaishi Wars. It might actually be more appropriate to use the default front-view system? That's more or less how all the main-line games did it. Though, that was because they were first-person perspective games, and I wouldn't want to push that programming on the game.

You'd think MZ would use a dictionary for switches/variables by now?

Well, I have talking/thinking about reviving/remaking Uchioniko for a while. I've never done anything with it because there just didn't seem to be any point to it. The extra Makerscore might not hurt, but, I dunno. Guess we'll see?

then suddenly it gives more makerscore because of a 5-star review
