Description

So, in between arguing about menu systems, putting the 40-hour JRPG you're making on hiatus for the sixth time, and posting pictures of women pointing accusingly at cats sitting at dinner tables on the RMN Discord server, you played about a dozen RPG Maker games this year. Most of them sucked, a few stood out in certain areas, and one or two were really legitimately good. That's how it goes.

But you didn't tell anyone!

You kept it to yourself! You selfish jerk! You didn't nominate them for Misaos or write reviews or anything! You probably didn't even leave a comment! And now nobody else knows whether they're any good or not!

There are 61 games right now which were completed in 2019, are eligible for Misaos, but have no reviews.

Here is a list of games you can review!

The first 61 games in this list - the first four pages, and the first game on the fifth page - are all of the unreviewed noncommercial games which were completed in 2019. And actually I think there's one game in there that has a review with no rating, but whatever. We'll count that one too.

Everything after that is older, and thus not eligible. Don't be going to page seven of this list and reviewing something. It won't count.

Your mission - your Misaossion, as it were - is to find games on that list, review them, and submit the reviews by the end of November. And then, if you think the game actually did a good job at something, nominate it for a Misao by clicking the little "Nominate" button on the game page with the award ribbon.

A game doesn't have to be the best game of the year for you to nominate it for a Misao. There are lots of Misao categories, ranging from "Best Game Title" to "Best Use of Owls." It doesn't even have to be the game you would personally choose to win the category you're nominating it for. It just has to do something neat enough that you think it's worth being in the running, so people can vote on it.

Technically, the thing you have to do to get an achievement for this event is just to review a game. Misao nominations are anonymous. But please do them anyway!

RULES

  • Review at least one non-commercial game which was completed in 2019, and which doesn't already have a review.
  • If you review the same game as someone else, that's fine, you can both get credit, as long as it was on this list at the start of the month.
  • If you review a game that is completed mid-November, that's fine too, and you can also get credit for that.
  • It is the "Date Completed" in the game's sidebar that matters for eligibility. Not the date of the last update, the last blog post, or the most recent download.
  • The reviews need to be accepted to the site - which means they need to abide by the review rules.
  • The event ends at midnight UTC, November 30, 2019. Your review must be submitted to the event by then.
  • If you share at least one of your reviews on any social media platform, and provide a link in the event comments to prove you did so, you get another 5 makerscore for free.

REWARDS

  • The 2019 Review Award - Worth 10 Makerscore. Awarded for submitting at least 1 eligible review.
  • Palette Swap of the 2019 Review Award (ice award) - Worth 11 Makerscore. Awarded for submitting at least 5 eligible reviews.
  • Palette Swap of the 2019 Review Award (desert award) - Worth 12 Makerscore. Awarded for submitting at least 10 eligible reviews.
  • Palette Swap of the 2019 Review Award (lava award) - Worth 13 Makerscore. Awarded for submitting at least 15 eligible reviews.
  • Palette Swap of the 2019 Review Award (shadow award) - Worth 14 Makerscore. Awarded for submitting at least 20 eligible reviews.
  • Public Indecency Award - Worth 5 makerscore. Awarded for sharing an eligible review on social media.

From what I can see, Two Clusters - Kain had an update in May of this year. However, an update to an already existing download doesn't translate to being eligible for Misaos, and that's probably what is happening to prevent nomination this year. The blog on the gamepage says there is more content to insert into the game, but, the main story is done. That, I presume, is why the completion date was set to 2020, yet is still marked as "complete"? I'm sorta shooting in the dark on that point.
Congrats to everyone!
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The event is finished!!! If anyone wrote a review that didn't get accepted in time, let me know. I know the last week was annoying because reviews only get accepted once a week. If your review was submitted during the last week and only didn't make it into the event because the staff was slow, then I'll give you the achievement anyway. If you promptly make a social media post about such a review and post it here within the next few days, then I'll count that too.

Otherwise, all the achievements have been given out, and about a third of the unreviewed completed games from 2019 actually got reviewed!!! Though 7 new games were completed during November that don't have reviews ;)

A few people reviewed games that I don't think were actually released in 2019, such as Two Clusters - Kain which I think was probably released in 2018 and only received a minor update in 2019 (and has a completion date of 11/26/2020 for some reason), and Dys: Eternal Space Jail RPG which is definitely a 2018 game. As well as games like Finding A Heart which was released in 2019 but has no completion date listed. But everyone who submitted a review for one of these questionable games also submitted another review for a game that was actually released in 2019, so it's all fine.

KrimsonKatt, you have to write a review of someone else's game and then make a social media post about that. Not about your own game.

Unless I'm mistaken, not a single person has earned the social media cheevo.
So, after much debating (and when I mean that, I mean, like, I spent about 2 minutes thinking about it), I’ve decided that – hey, what the hay – I’ll join in and see if I can get a quick review in before the 30th to score myself an achievo (since I needs more)! I’ve just in the middle of typing the whole thing and will probably get it in before the end of today (or tomorrow at the latest if something happens, like I break my leg, or something).

Now I would imagine that either Hali or Libby are going to check the queue at least one more time before the November 30th deadline comes and goes, right? If it does go, and either one of them are, or both, are busy, and if all the reviews submitted before the deadline happen to get approved afterwards, can we just link our reviews to this page and still get credit for the achievement? Because it would suck to get a review in with 3 or 4 days remaining on the event and still not get that sweet, sweet achievo pie because SOMEONE was too busy playing Pokémon Sword And Shield all this time. *condescending look*

Oh, and I would also score that social media one too, but I don’t use that stuff (because I’m a f**king rebel) - so no next extra achievement for me…! Unless it counts if I told someone at work about it (pfft, probably not).
There's nothing that makes me more happy than seeing obscure gems get attention. There's alot of good games in that list.

To the others: Would you mind sharing which games you reviewed? If I do get to more games, I'd prefer it were unreviewed ones

I submitted a review of A Maned Lioness!
This challenge is giving me incentive to play a bunch of games that came out this year, hehe

(And thank you in advance to whoever goes over my review for submission :3)

Naisu! : D Don't forget to add the review to this event page (top of this page -> submit)

I had an eye on Two Clusters - Kain, A Mained Lioness, and 21 Years: A Birthday Game for Muffle at some point. At this point, I feel that if I only manage one review for this event, it would be Two Clusters.

*Edit: How about that Baclyae Revolution?

I plan on reviewing Where the moon goes at night as well. Later I would like to add: Paradise - Darkened soul, Fields of Fire And Turovero, but I doubt I'll get around to that one.

I'm closing in on the end of Turovero The Celestial Tower now, with a bunch of points written down for the review. :)

EDIT: Aaaaaand submitted! I am SO glad I participated in this event. I would have missed out on an absolute GEM of a game if I hadn't!

You can add them at any time : ) Once signed up, scroll up and click the submit button, then scroll through the reviews to the ones you want to add - the lower the newer the review (you'll have to add one at a time)

Now I see it. :) Thanks.

The only restriction ofc is that you can only submit reviews that have already been approved. Pending ones won't show up.

^ What Marrend said. They have to manually added, as I did earlier.

Which means I can't manually add it now? Normally this should work automatically because I clicked on "Sign Up" before I wrote the review.
