Description

Friday the 13th is coming up and it coincides with the date of the next Release Something! Day! Talk about a coincidence!

So, some of you might not know what a Release Something! Day (RS!D) is. Basically, it's a day where you release something - anything! - in order to get feedback from the community. Release Something! Day used to be a regularly occurring event in the days of yore, back when the community had a sticky issue of never releasing any games or demos (because perfectionists I guess?). RS!D was created as a way to encourage sharing, collaboration, feedback, and content in the community. The aim is to truly try to capture the spirit of releasing something. It is not about prepping a major release, or making something in a fury to have something new to show for the event. It is about showing your works-in-progress, getting feedback, and checking out what other people are working on. Like a snapshot of RMN's development community.

What kinds of things can be shown? Music, tiles, sprites, graphics of any type, gameplay (videos of gameplay tests are good), tech demos, demos - even completed games (but don't strive for a finished product; that's not the point of RS!D). Let the feedback work for you. Although, there are some limitations to RMN's event profile - only game downloads can be submitted to the "official" event submission. But that's okay! I will manually compile all of the other types of submissions and update the event page.

So, some of you might not know what a Release Something! Day (RS!D) is. Basically, it's a day where you release something - anything! - in order to get feedback from the community. There will even be a podcast covering the releases.

1. If you are posting a game demo or download, make a Gameprofile (if you haven't already), upload the file, and submit the download to this event (by clicking the Submit button in the upper left)
2. If you are posting other media (like screenshots or music or graphics or videos) submit it to the site like normal and then post a link to it in the comments

There will be a badge worth 10 MS for releasing something. Best feedback givers will also get a badge worth 20 MS. Because the feedback is what counts this time.

There might even be a podcast!

Since it has been a month since the end of this event and the Release Serah achievements haven't gone out yet, I did them today! However, it should be noted that I didn't know what criteria Liberty intended for "good feedback", so of course my liberal interpretation of "good" applied.

Here is the list I devised from the Feedbag thread:

nhubi
Marrend
Red_Nova
Corfaisus
MakioKuta
CashmereCat
Puddor
Housekeeping
Cap_H
Addit
RedMask
Luchino
drenrin2120
pianotm
Liberty
sbethune81
Archeia_Nessiah
WolfCoder
Ratty524
sinnelius
Ebeth

If your name is NOT on this list and you feel it should have been, PM me!

I wasn't feeling the best so I never got around to making a blog for this but I did get my game page up and did manage to get a gif of the saving system prototype I was playing around with. You'll get a group photo every save point too!

Since hey, take a photo it'll last longer!

I so want a "mini screenshot" plugin where you can create new files and put them on pictures like this.
Battledome: Special Release Something! Day edition!

Better late than never, right?

To play, you need the latest version of Java installed. Export the zip into a folder and double-click on run_battledome.bat

Hopefully there aren't too many bugs. There is no saves implemented yet (so if you exit you lose all your "progress" such as it is.)

What's a deadline??
Nah, that's okay. It should be in the list in the feedback thread so peeps should find it there easily enough. ^.^

I don't have a growth mindset...yet.

Sorry about the confusion. I submitted my demo Canvas on the 13th within the deadline. It's part of your list of demos...I was just posting the link here in addition, as I just recently saw that many others had done the same. I know that post was late, and I'm sorry about that. If it's a breach of protocol, please delete my last post.
Guys... it's well past the deadline. >.<;

Work has been slow, but I've managed to finish the final version of the Canvas demo. As luck would have it, it coincided with this Release Something event. It is there with the compiled demos, but I thought I'd follow suit and post a comment here as well. The demo has gone from 2 playable dungeons to 4 and includes new gadgets, minigames, and sidequests as well. Based on player feedback, I've added/modified a few features and included a walkthrough with the download for those who get stuck along the way. The demo is also now unencrypted for those who want to poke around. Please enjoy!

Better late than never! Spent most of the day finding/fixing bugs for my game jolt plugin and adding some finishing touches, but I'm throwing a couple things up here:

1. DynRPG source update "0.30"
-It's a little unfinished by my standards, but that shouldn't matter. It does not require a new dynloader.dll or patched exe. It's simply new classes defined in the source code so you can build more interesting plugins! It basically adds a crapload of stuff, almost tripling in size. Note: You won't be able to create RPG::Window classes yet (only edit existing ones), but I'm working on changing that.
https://github.com/PepsiOtaku/DynRPG (Use "Download ZIP" button)
Documentation: http://rewking.com/dynrpg/ (will be updated periodically)

2. Game Jolt plugin (beta)
-Add trophies & leaderboards to your 2k3 games! All the notes/instructions are in the readme. It requires a gamejolt.com login along with a game page for your 2k3 game. PM me if you find any bugs!
https://github.com/PepsiOtaku/game_jolt

It also integrates with my Xbox Controller/XInput plugin, where you can use the Xbox's guide button to launch the menu! Get that here: https://github.com/PepsiOtaku/xbx_controller

Video of what it looks like:
Ooooor you could take the links already provided in that thread I linked to~ Since I was on the ball and compiled them all for easy findage. :DDD
And yes, links from feedbacks are included in that thread to~ ^.^

Leave your feedback in this thread so it's easily found.

...by posting a link to it here! Please continue to post on the gameprofile media resource review art etc etc...

Okay guys I totally fell asleep last night at like 9pm. I missed submitting my entry as such. But then I wasnt intending to be a stickler about it so if you still have something to show post a link to it here this weekend!

Here is my feedback on non-playable somethings so far:
@FangStilzskin
@Orochii
@janssenpre
@Charlbar

Kickstarter guy:
I've checked on it and here is my piece of advice. Don't publish your stretch goals before having initial amount in your pocket. Video has its flaws (use of different fonts without proper reason, strange borders and changes of resolution. Arguing is negative and that its not good either. You should build upon enthusiasm, you don't want to call community members racist indirectly). I would use Sooz's picture as its cover as it have darker borders and will stand out more. It looks more RPGish too. In About this project section, I would add links to Sooz's and Sae's pages. I would put examples of their work in order by whom they they were made.
Rewards by my opinion are strange. Six months is long period of time but any serious game needs even longer. I would make this whole Kickstarter commercial and thus make people more willing to contribute.

I was so hyped for this because I had started to get work on a new project done...

I could only get some graphics ripped for the game done.

Ripping graphics is a very tedious process that drains my creative spark worse than leaving your cars headlights on overnight.

What do I do? D:

Hmm... we already released a video... but why not tack on one more submission?

http://rpgmaker.net/games/4071/media/2818/

Costume designing is so fun.

In that outfit she wouldn't need to hide spare aces up her sleeve, she'd just need to lean over the table, no one would be watching her hands.

I actually wanted to show something about the follow-up to Ruby Wolf but instead I ended up upgrading RPG20XX so it could run in the most deranged environments, Windows XP, malfunctioning virtual machines, missing video drivers, etc.

It's already been released and the button updated, but I'm not exactly sure what the feedback is supposed to be. Try using it on the oldest most outdated/broken machine that runs Windows you have? Could give any sort of feedback at this point.

Oh, I forgot about WINE on Mac, that's a really absurd environment to try RPG20XX in if I ever knew one. I personally don't know anyone who's ever used it.
