Description

Summer, with fields of wheat and grain blowing in the gentle breeze. Warmth that sinks into the skin making days long and lazy, perfect for swimming and indulging in frozen treats.

Autumn, full of gusty breezes and warm afternoons. Turning paths to gold as leaves fall like a riotously coloured shower, leaving the trees bare of their foliage, stark against the sky.

Winter, with frozen evenings spent huddled around an open flame, telling tales of the past and future to loved ones, a decorated tree listening in from the corner, it's tiny lights twinkling between leaves of green.

Spring, bursting with new life as the long sleep ends and nature returns ten-fold to rejoice with explosions of colour as all kinds of new plants turn their faces up to catch the sweet drops of fresh rain.

The four seasons are wonderful times full of amazing moments and this event focuses on them. There will be a total of five of these events over the course of the next few years. Each of the first four events will have you focus on a different complete game based on a season you didn't do before, allowing you to collect all four of the seasonal badges. The fifth will be a game where you will use all four seasons in a game. Keep an eye out for these events if you want to nab every badge!

Your aim this time - to make a game that uses one of these seasons as a main inspiration. They can be represented in different ways - surviving the frozen wilds, a story set in autumn following the death of a character, a visual novel with spring colours as the palette... the use is up to you, as long as it's easy to tell which season has been referenced.

Rules!
- You have three weeks in which to make the game.
- You may use any engine.
- You may use resources you've used in the past, however the game itself needs to be made within the three week period. That is, if you made custom resources for a game you may use those, however you can't just take an old game and finish it off for the event.
- The games must have an accepted game page. The game page must be accepted before Friday the 1st of June.
- Event begins on Saturday the 12th of May and ends at Midnight, Sunday the 3rd of June.
- Create a game based on a season. You must only use one season! This is for reasons that shall become apparent in due time.

Rewards
Each person who took part will receive a badge worth 10 MS.
Each person who completed a game will receive a badge worth 75 MS, themed around the season they drew inspiration from.

To reiterate - the season you choose doesn't have to be the season the game is set in but it needs to be a large component of the game, and easily recognisable as such.

I might also just not release a DEMO if I don't get enough content for the game made. However I will work on my project even after the event. Good luck to the ones that will finish, even if just by a few seconds before deadline!
Everything under control... one dungeon to finish, many scenes to event and ending to come up with. I'm thinking scissors for this sheet of paper with all fixes and unfinished stuff I'd written down to get around to.

I think I won't be able to myself. A lot of things happened these last weeks that didn't allow me to keep on working on the game properly. I have the first section of the game playable but in no way I'm gonna release a demo with just that. Sorry ;|

I will still try to carry on in order to release it in time for the event but... eh.

Still, good luck Make_it_magiK and everyone else. Do your best!

Sad to hear that... Your game is really interesting! I was really looking forward to play it! Anyway, thanks for the support! I hope I can finish in time... I worked very hard for this!

I'll be cutting it close but am still hoping to make it in time.

Same here! Let's not give up!

Good luck to you too! There is still some time left! Let's hope we can finish!

Thank you^^ Worse comes to worst, the game will still be released although some time after the deadline.

Anyway I'm glad to hear you're working hard on the game and that you're doing your best to release it in time, Magik! I look forward to it^^
I wish you, again, lots of good luck.
Why are you still here?
GO, GO, GAM MAK!
(Y'all as well!)
Reminder to get your gamepages in for the event! You have about an hour left for gamepages!

Let's not think about the worst! But if you really can't make it in time, then it's still better than nothing! Can't wait to play it! >u<

Thaaaaanks!!!! >u<
I hope you will like it! Actually I noticed that it's a bit text heavy... And the gameplay isn't that fun... T^T
Let's hope it will be enjoyable nevertheless!

... ends at Midnight, Sunday the 3rd of June.

Does that mean that we have all the time until the end of the sunday, or that at the start of sunday we should be finished? This may sound dumb for many of you, but I want to be sure that I understood correctly. Because if we have all the sunday, it means we still have time! And I don't have to panic that much... I will still panic anyway, but less XoX
I believe that is Libby time which I believe is edited by the website for your time zone. For example mine says 06/03/2018 06:59 AM.

Oh okay! Thanks for answering!
I'm not gonna make it, not even for a DEMO ;-;

But I will still gam mak furiously! THE FINAL GRIND ENDS AT THE DEADLINE AND NOT BEFORE.

Noooo, that's so sad to hear!
Well said! Let's work hard until the end! Although I also think that I won't be able to finish...
About 12 hours left! Go go go go! Crunch time! Sleep is for the weak! Get something to turn in, even if its a demo! Let's create enough content for Libby to stream for 2 weeks!
Nope off to bed. Half a dungeon to go, all the battles and a couple of cutscenes (and we don't mention music). Probably realistically I have four hours of working time before the deadline. I think I can make it.

Do we need to leave the contest upload intact for a period of time or can we update the download whenever we like (though realistically I'm taking a week off game making)?
I think we have to retain the contest entry download as it stands, though we can upload any updated downloads on the side, as long as the contest entry - which will be judged - isn't removed from the game page. My thing will have a boatload of stuff to be improved I don't have the heart not to make later updates for :)
Okay, so I did a dumb and set the event end time half a day earlier. Now it's fixed so enjoy the extra 12 hours you were always supposed to have! Huzzah?

@Fomar: Leave it up for at least a few weeks, though if you could just mark it as Event version and then add separate versions up afterwards that would be better.
Well, I finished my demo. I might consider working on this and maybe completing it tomorrow. Don't count on the latter, though.

Libby, you couldn't have made my day happier! Maybe now I can finish in time!!! *motivation=100%*
Uploaded a game already, but thought I might have left a boss's hp as 1 for testing, lol. Better get a wrench and fix that, and some other stuff if it still counts...
It's official... Sadly I didn't finish in time, I will nevertheless post a demo, which is nearly half of the complete game. Still! I will surely complete it, although the event will be over.

Edit: oh noooo!!! I think that even the demo might not be posted!!! It's taking too long to upload the game!!! T^T
There's still about... 50 minutes left. It should not take that long to load your game. Remember, under 450MB for the site!

50 minutes?! For real?! I thought the time was over!!! I rushed for nothing...
Anyway, the game's finally online! It took half an hour to upload!

Edit: I'm so dumb! My offset from GMT was wrong all along! *face slap*
