AHAHAHA You all fell for it again! WHEN WILL YOU EVER LEARN?

Everyone has THREE WEEKS (and some change) to make a short game using not one, NOT TWO, but THREE randomly given theme elements from THIS POST!

You will get one randomly selected image, one randomly selected word, ANNNND...

One randomly selected resource from the PA-LETTE'S MAKE EVENT!

SIGNUPS WILL CLOSE ON 5/17 4PM CST!

HOW IT WORKS:
Sign up for the event. One person only!

I'll send you one randomly selected image, word, and resource from the Pa-lette's Make! event to use as the theme of your game. There's no rules for what you use, use rips, custom, whatever you like! Build with your favorite engine! Starting time is NOW! As soon as you sign up, I'll work on getting you your themes. New games only, don't dig out your dusty stuff and try to polish it up!

BRINGING BACK TR2'S FEATURE - ONE TIME REROLL!
That's right folks, I'm giving people a one time chance to reroll their theme if they are truly unhappy with their image/word/resource result from the initial roll. Use it wisely!

There are two nifty makerscore rewards for this game, one that goes to those who make a game demo, and those who submit a finished game!
Submit your finished game to the event page before the cutoff date, no extensions! ... Hopefully!

A NOTE ABOUT THE IMAGES AND THE RESOURCE - The image theme will be handled very loosely to allow for creative freedom. I'll use this image (again) as an example;


Now say for example you got the above picture. The theme included could be as vague or deep as you like, it could be about a forest, a dad and his kid, a pair of hunters, rifles, a road sign, a busted car, ANYTHING related to the image! Just because you have something you feel would be impossible to work with, do not expect us to judge you for thinking outside the box on some extreme tangent just because it doesn't match the image theme to the pixel. It's about fun! Go nuts!

AND, when it comes to the Pa-Lette's Make! resource you get, I am holding the SAME guidelines as the image reference. Take what you want from it! Obviously you are allowed to use the resource if you so desire, but you're also allowed to simply take inspiration from it in some way much the same as the image guidelines! This is all in place so that the poor sap that can't art to save their life winds up with one of our stellar art submissions won't feel obligated to try to work the resource into their own work, and thus have the resulting art clash.

Keep in mind that I reserve the right to accept or deny any images/words used in the roulette post if I deem they aren't worthy of the Theme Roulette roster. ~Illy

It was! Mirak's game for this event is not guilty of the debauchery of (and committed within) the sex rock. :v
So I was intending to participate but it seems like that IRL stuff has got in my way.

For the curious, I was going to make short horror game named "Space Inferno", it would have been about a space marine infiltrating an alien spaceship to destroy it from within.

Whithin the current state of affairs, I don't think ill get any time to work on this. Plus I have other priorities when I will have free time.

Now done with character stats, will be thinking about monsters next. I'm pretty sure the promotion quest(s) will be to unlock teleport crystals. There would only be, like, three, maybe four in the entire game, with one unlocked at the beginning. Though, it doesn't seem a bad idea for players to have to fight a boss to activate said crystals.

I'm also considering "shop promotion" quests as well, but, I haven't quite mashed out the details, outside of what items shops would sell after the upgrade(s).
I don't need stats. I just need a bear. A bear can just maul a statistician. When you have a bear in your party, you cannot lose.

Porbably. But I have no idea why I'd would want to do that ... unless to protect them from being turned into Zombies or something.

It could be a resource conservation/balance thing. Like, ejected members wouldn't get any EXP, obviously. However, maybe they are revived to full after battle? I mean, I'm totally guessing in the dark, so, take this with a half-grain of salt.

Welp most of my ideas are all great, but......I have NO idea how to handle party members.

Like, having allies makes NO sense for the story I have in mind, but you can't have a compelling dungeon crawler with just one character, because even if you give him multiple turns, you'd still have ALL the skills on him instead of spreading them around.

I might try to figure out some kind of "You can create allied copies of creatures somehow, and if they die, they die"? But that just sounds really tricky to make work. XD

aegix you could always have a story char that's separate from the nameless (or not, but w/e) cast you control -- like a commander leading the investigation, or a villain narrating the events cough wine and roses. i think that's pretty reasonable for dungeon crawlers.
Basic plot and dungeon ideas more or less thought up, and my first "floor" has a basic "sketch" outline.

At least I don't have a big "town" to make, and the stuff I'm using is much, MUCH simpler to map with, so hopefully I can get the dungeon layouts done relatively quick.

That what I hope to do.

Have the main character, and 3 disposable allies. If they die, they die and you have to make do without them until the next time you leave the dungeon (and they cost something to replace).

If the hero dies...I think I'll have him auto-rez, but steal HP from his surviving allies, or something. Because I REALLY hate how in Persona games, if your hero dies then you insta-lose.
