Does anyone here regularly consume milk alternatives? I have been getting almond milk for the last few weeks, but I am wondering if there are better alternatives to milk that I have overlooked. Is soy milk any better?

I'm an avid almond milk drinker myself, simply because I detest the taste of milk, and after finding out some things about my mother's genetics, I might be slightly lactose-intolerant (if I am, it wouldn't be to a huge degree. I feel my stomach tighten up a bit after drinking straight milk, as oppose to getting truly sick).

Aside from that, I can't say much about soy milk, but soy products in general can cause some health risks in the long term

There are quite a lot of alternatives.
Soja milk is one alternative, although some have problems with soja. If you want to try soja milk, try different brands. Good ones are taste, bad ones not. Don't ask me why, but there's a huge difference in taste. Some have an annoying aftertaste. I wouldn't really recommend it, though.

There are also milk variants of all kinds. Rice milk, almond milk, oat milk (pretty much any grain is possible to turn into "milk").
Most of the less common ones are only found as organic versions, though. They're technically not milk, but their color and all makes up for it. The taste is a little different, obviously, but certainly not bad - requires a little bit getting used to, but I haven't tried many, so I won't be able to get into detail here (they're a no-go for me).
There's also coconut milk.

Well, better is always a little difficult to say. About lactose, there are lactose-free ones available anywhere. They taste a little bit sweeter, but that's it. It's no wonder you dislike milk when it harms you, though. And feeling a little unwell is more than enough to do that. Lactose intolerancy is something that usually develops later on and gets stronger - I was like that with milk, too, pretty much, and now I gotta be careful when lactose is in my medicaments. (of course, completely abondoning any dairy can lead to you stopping enzyme production as well)
Milk is inherently good stuff. However, the way normal one is produced kills most of the benefits. And variation is key to any healthy diet. Nobody will live unhealthy simply because he abondons milk.

I'd try a few of them out, and allow to try them a little bit longer. You often need a bit to get used to new tastes, but there are plenty of alternatives.
And about the question .. no, I don't drink the alternatives. I can't. I had trouble with lactose free milk as well (not because of lactose, though), and I still have, but it's gotten better so I am able to drink a little bit of organic ones.

Getting older is weird! I'm 25 now and I feel a bit "behind the curve", especially when I compare myself to artists and gamedevs of the younger generation. But at the same time, I've started to realize that even if I have a full-time job now, that doesn't mean I have to give up on dreams of self-employment, or indie game-making - it's just something I have to work toward slowly. My greatest fear, for a very long time, was waking up at the age of 45 and realize I'd spent half my life doing nothing that makes me happy, and being dug in too deep to change trajectory.

Anyway, at the very least, if you're aware of it now, you can figure out how to reach the things you want to do! Changing course is tricky and gets trickier when you get older, but I've found it tends to be more possible than at first glance.

Sorry if that was a bit verbose; those kinds of things used to haunt me all the time (and still do sometimes) :P

Yeah, you're right about all of this, you know. I think the biggest thing I'm worried about right now is that at the end of a 9-to-5 (or 8-to-6) day I'll be too tired to commit to any cool side projects or anything, without which I wouldn't be able to develop any of the skills in what I'm truly interested in. If you can manage it these days, though, then that does give me some hope.

I just don't want to be the type of guy that earns a lot of money but then doesn't have the time to spend any of it productively.

Thanks again, slash, it's always great to hear your thoughts. <3

Who needs effort when you can just rip everything and call it your own? It's like the game version of those kickstarters that popped up after the potato salad ordeal with stuff like "I want to make guacamole, give me $50".
It prints money, lol.

I know it's "F2P", but there's that whole "cheap gold server premium membership" shit thrown in to milk something out of it.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I'm reminded of this:

Hm, well, I think I might be a BIT underleveled for the second floor of the post-game maze in Etrian Odessey 4 (which is where enemies with Party-wide Petrify like to hang around in) but you know, I think I can handle it!

Blindsided by Muskoids (the Petrify enemies)! Game Over

Okay okay, trying again...

Thunder Spawn and Mauler Moles, oh my! Well as long as I kill the Thunder Spawn before the moles, the Thunder Spawn won't get angry and use it's ultra-powerful party-wide Thunder attack on me...
*accidentally kills a mole* Game Over

Well, I got a little bit of the floor mapped that time, let's see if I can get any more mapped...

Blindsided by Muskoids!

AGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ;_; why Atlus why would you make an enemy who can use a party-wide Petrify attack vwhyyyyyy

Haha, it's funny; nowadays I just consider money a means to buying my own free time so I can do what I want to do. It's been hectic working full time and trying to make stuff, but I do enjoy it! Let's go kick ass together :D
