WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?
Posts
i have been thinking about what career i even want to pursue when i get older. I want my career to be in the medical career but reading around about all sorts of them they are always mixed and I have no idea if a medical career is a trap, or people just complain a lot.
respiratory therapy is what i have been primarily interested, but many people say there is a lack of respect in the profession and not a lot of career advancement.
Also, RMN should have seasonal decorations.

Adon, don't grow up, it is a trap D:
I also hear that there is a lack of respect for dermatology, although I see they have nice income and they are comfortable with their lives. Anyway, medicine is a very competitive and hard career no matter which branch you choose if you do what people ask you in a bad way there will be a lack of respect, if you do what people ask you right then shouldn't be a problem, and if there is lack of respect it will be just dumb elitism that shouldn't affect your decision if you choose what you wanted.

I have a cousin who's gonna be a pathologist soon. She has heavy eyebags everyday.
author=Adon237I'd be wary about work in the medical field myself, as it would be a ridiculous amount of (hard) work for much longer than your peers. Considering that medical school is for postgraduates in the U.S, you're looking at 3 or 4 years of 'pre-med', 4 years of actual medical school, and then a further 3-7 years of education/internships/residency...meaning it'd take you till your late-twenty's to be a doctor - by which point you'd be saddled so much debt you'd probably struggle to pay it off for a good couple years. I can't imagine how it'd feel to be in that position while at the end of that period, others could be earning six figure salaries with almost a decade of work experience to boot.

Not to mention the working hours can be ridiculous - hope you don't mind night shifts well into your 40's...
With regards to the pro's: Doctors get massive respect, the medical field pays off a shedload in the end, and I don't know what the situation is like in the USA, but doctors in the UK have absolutely no trouble finding jobs (as long as they have the right qualifications and are ready to relocate).
My mum's a consultant (I think the American equivalent is 'attending physician'?) in Obs/Gynae (probably not the field most guys would be interested in, hah), and while she has a tendency to complain about her work alot (as most people do), it's clear that she finds her work enjoyable and deeply fulfilling, as despite the fact that there was always the possibility of her becoming a housewife (my dad isn't exactly poor), she always turned down the idea. (Although of course, this could be down to her ego as well...)

The American education system is so fucked.
Tell me about it...apart from the ridiculous sums of money involved, the worst part is the way American student loans have to be paid back at least six months after graduation - irrespective of whether they're currently employed.

James felt casting Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would be "strange" and "weird". However, Ellis stated that Pattinson was James' first choice for the role of Christian Grey.
The studio originally wanted Ryan Gosling for Christian, but he was not interested in the role. Garrett Hedlund was also considered, but he could not connect with the character. Stephen Amell said he would not have wanted to play the role of Grey because “I actually didn’t find him to be that interesting … Nothing about Christian Grey really spoke to me.”

I hate how people pretend those books are a work or art or some crap like that >_>. They're basically just pornography.
