YOUR FAVORITE GAME EVER!
Posts
When it comes to actually influencing me in any meaningful way, probably Silent Hill. I take a lot of cues from that in my games.
Sadly, when it comes to time I spent on the game, League of Legends.

More and more people are recommending Silent Hill 2 as a must-experience story but I don't have a PS2! I'm even contemplating buying one because there are such awesome games as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus on that console that I never ever got a chance to play.

SotC (and also Ico) can be enjoyed on the PS3 though I found the camera giving me headaches on the HD port for some reason...
For me it has to be Resident Evil 2. I replay it every year pretty much.
Other strong contenders would be FFVII, Devil May Cry 3, Demon's Souls, Megaman X and Metal Gear Solid. They all give me this unique fuzzy feeling inside. They feel more than your generic entertaiment. I got feelings for them :P
Cashmerecat, i believe silent hill 2 is available on pc as well.

author=CashmereCatAdd Okami as another reason (unless you have played it on the Wii). Also, the backwards compatibility with PS1 games give it a huge library. Also, you can get them pretty cheap nowdays. ^.^

(Why didn't they keep backwards compatibility with 3 and 4 as well? It was a huge selling point. :< )

All of these games are awesome. I know I said Metal Gear Solid was my favorite all time game, but I'm still torn between that and FFVII. Silent Hill 2 was an excellent title. It's disturbing on a level the first one never even touched.

I was really torn with Silent Hill 2. I absolutely love it, but I don't own it and have only played it once. So I just can't put it in my favourites now can I? I have listened to SH2 soundtrack gazillion times however :) Beautiful filth.
I don't think there is such a game... I played too many over the decades and loved too many ^^;
But FF7 is probably among my favorites..

Either Silent Hill 2 or Metal Gear Solid 2. Plenty of people have already made a case for SH2, so I love MGS2 for its incredibly brilliant design, memorable dialog, chilling atmosphere, and rich cultural commentary. In spite of being more than a decade old, it manages to be more relevant to today's society than ever before.
My favorite would have to be Shadow of the Colossus!
For no other reason than I would stay up all night and watch my brothers play the game. It was fantastic!

When I was a kid, it was the Donkey Kong Trilogy, specifically DK3. When I was in my early 20's it was Resident Evil 4. Now I have too many. So I'll just say my latest favorite game. I've never played Chrono Trigger until recent and that is starting to become one of my favorite games now.
It's always hard to just pick one favorite game ever but..
From a "played it to death" POV then:
Majora's Mask
Lylat Wars (Starfox 64 to you, probably)
Rogue Squadron 2
The Specialists (HL1 multiplayer mod)
With a "game design and/or artisty appreciation" head on then I'd go (in no order):
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Shadow of the Colossus
The Specialists (again, for the technical achievements and balance in a HL mod)
Majora's Mask
Metal Gear Solid 1/2/3
So with TS being a multiplayer-only game and a mod of HL1 I guess Majora's Mask wins by a technicality.
Honorable mention goes to: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - would probably rate higher if I had played it through more than once ever.
As an aside I recently found out that The Specialists' creators are essentially remaking it as a HL2 mod called "Double Action: Boogaloo".

I'd have to go by category, for RPGs its a tie between the Original Legend of Legaia, FFX, and Shadow Hearts Covenant.
For fighting games it would undoubtedly be Soul Calibur 2 as a played that game so Much I'd forget to finish up HW. Mortal Kombat (the newest one) would be a close second because me and my friends played that game every day for literally six months, no joke,.
Finally for sports games I have to give it up for NBA street, it was the pinnacle of pure fun of any sports game I ever played.

The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
It has the great gameplay of Ocarina of Time but with a far more interesting world to explore.

... come to think maybe it's Ar Tonelico 2 tho...
altho I really had a good feel with " Shadow Hearts 2 ", too..
._. probably Ar Tonelico 2.... it resonated really great with me, on a deeper emotional level, and was really creative and unusual.

ZPE is right they did make a PS3 remake of Ico and Shadow of Colossus but if you do decide to get a PS2 I would also suggest picking up:
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Easily one of the best games ever made
Final Fantasy 10 and 12 - These games aren't as good as the 2d classics like 4 and 6 but they are still great games.
Devil May Cry 3 - If you want a challenging action game than look no further.
Resident Evil 4 - I played the Gamecube version but I'm sure this one is just as good.
