R.I.P. RPG REVOLUTION

Well, it was fun while it lasted but it appears iEntry has finally stopped giving a damn and let the site die - No announcement or anything. Just a sudden "down for maintenance" error and it's now an advertising domain. As a longtime member and former moderator there, it makes me sad to see the site gone. It may not have been that active in its last year of life, but it will be missed.

That's not new. In turn, however, the staff on the site also stopped giving a damn, because iEntry gave us less than two damns, and the whole damn site was decreasing in activity, and now it's shut down. Dammit.
That's unfortunate. Are the old members scattered to the winds, or are they gathering somewhere else?
From what I know, the majority of the active members were already either here or at HB Games. Like Ratty said, iEntry's lack of damns led to the staff not doing anything, as pretty much all site improvements and the like would have to be done through iEntry.
Yeah, I moved here a couple of years ago around the beginning of RRR's decline. It's sad - I still have fond memories of when I used to mod a couple subforums.
There were some invaluable game threads, resources, and articles on that website! Hopefully there is a way to get to those things again so they can be accessed in the future. RRR was where I started in like 2011, which is the time I'm assuming it was already past the start of its decline.
How unfortunate :(

Incredibly sad. They were RMXP.org's rivals since the very beginning, often heated, but in a good way, I think. It's a piece of RPG Maker history lost for good.
author=Feldschlacht IVI think most of the former staff moved to RPG Maker VX Ace.net, but as Rast pointed out, they are here and in HB.

They were the first community I ever truly felt at home with. I was a member of a few other boards and rmxp.org, but none of them made me feel as welcome as RRR (granted, I was an idiot on rmxp.org in particular).
To give you all the scope, being a mod at that site at one point, when the former site owner, Rydin, sold the site to iEntry, controversy stirred over the company's somewhat ambiguous policies. Namely, that any work that's posted within their domain belonged to them, or something. It probably wasn't really the case, but it scared off a lot of the talent who used to post resources and stuff, and since that whole load of drama, very few members would actively contribute anything to the site or the community. This lead to a decline in the amount of forum activity, and even when we made efforts to try to bring it back up with some events, very few people participated.
That was just the first blow, the second came, as Rast mentioned, from the fact that we needed to directly consult iEntry for every change to the main site. We needed to iron out some bugs with the front page, but iEntry would rarely, if ever, respond, and our complaints often fell on deaf ears. RRR was one of the few RM communities that allowed you to host a profile for your games, similar to this site, so not letting us edit the site's code was a big deal.
Years went by, and the staff as a whole was pretty much ready to give up on RRR. Kaz, and a few others in particular moved on to manage the aforementioned RMVXAce.net, and that's pretty much when I left as well, though I took some glances from time to time and was proud to see that some members of the community were attempting to revive the site... But now this happens.
Overall, I really can't say RRR has just suddenly died, it was suffering a slow and painful death for some time now. Shame to see it go down this route, though.

Has anyone tried archive.org?

While it may seem that way, the staff never did stop caring. Jonnie, kaz, and myself still feel like part of our team died, although to be honest, it's been dead long before iEntry finally pulled the plug. The problem was, we were limited in our tools to do anything about it when we knew it was dying.
Kaz and X-M-O both tried relentlessly on a number of occasions to gain the keys to the main site. They had ambitious ideas about cleaning up the main page: creating blogs, adding more game engines, shaping up the game list on the primary site to be more like RMN with user options... all sorts of great ideas to get people to stop by... and iEntry not only refused them access, but refused to even budge and do anything for the main site.
Maybe iEntry didn't feel there was any value to the site anymore once RMW came around and people started to jump ship. Also keep in mind that VX.net went through a sort of mutiny with iEntry around the same time and a lot of staff were cleaned out, so maybe iEntry was tired of trying to run both sites and ensure loyalty in their staff and members.
Regardless, though, iEntry didn't do a damn thing, but to say the staff didn't give a damn either is a bit unfair. Kaz tried until the bitter end. Even with the recent downtime (prior to the site turning off), kaz tried to reach out to iEntry to get them to fix it.
Only time will tell if the same fate befalls VX.net.

Sorry about that. I was largely exaggerating the issue with that post. Pretty much everyone on staff (dude, I was there) remained resilient in keeping that site alive. I guess on my end, however, the moment Kaz messaged me, flat out telling that they are "giving up on RRR" and recommended that I migrate to Ace.net kind of gave me the impression that this was it.
Damn. If I'd known they were going under I would have grabbed up as many of their games as possible (and probably had a 'grab a game or two' contest/event thing so that their backlog wasn't lost). They had some of the golden oldies that are now no-where. ;.;
Even when she went to Ace.net, she tried, but after it went down again we knew it was over. So yes, I suppose we did give up in the end, but only because there was no other alternative by then and we already knew it was done for.
We still reminisce the good times, though. It's too bad that iEntry couldn't see passed their own arrogance, and I'm sure given time they'll do the same for VX.net.
It's not quite the same feel as the old, but lately I think RMN and Ace.net have upped their game in terms of activity. I have nothing against RM Web, as I frequent that a lot, but it's nice to see sites like this one still catering more to the hobbyist crowd.
I'm just sad because I posted a lot of images on the RRR gallery that I won't get back.
Edit:
Liberty, and the Wayback Machine isn't really helping me much, either. I can pull links to the early games and demos, but not completed games for some odd reason.
Edit 2:
It's the end of an era. 1st First Seed Material, now RRR.

iEntry is the pinnacle of scum. Say what you will about my past gripes, but in the end, the real garbage of it all is iEntry. I doubt rydin, the person who started that whole mess would read, see, or even care about this, but I'll say it anyway; I hope you're proud of yourself buddy.
I can't really blame Rydin for it. It was my understanding that he didn't have time to keep managing the site and that fueled his decision to sell the it when iEntry offered. The first week or so under iEntry was fine, actually - They had a nice rep join the forums and talk with us, and helped iron out some issues. It was a bit after that that things started going south. Said rep just sort of stopped responding and stuff that needed fixing never got fixed.
Fun Fact: Although iEntry listed(and still lists) RRR on it's site map, it never once had a direct link to the site as it does with most of it's other sites.

That's a list of iEntry's "Gamer's Channel" website, most of which suffered the same fate RRR has.

Welp, this makes RMN the only RPG Maker site I still frequent that hasn't closed down then! Granted I wasn't too active on RRR, but I did visit. Guess it joins Don's Forum, Gaming World and War of the Magi in the grave of deceased RPG Maker sites of yesterday that I used to have a soft spot for.
VX.net has already fallen into a slow decline. ;_; A pity, you know. I have some very fond memories of that site. Amazing community in its heyday, and the original home to some of the best tileset artists around; Celianna and Lunarea. *sigh*

Aye, and from what I can remember he was offered a decent sum of money as well - five digits I think? Would any guy in their early 20's have done any different? I certainly wouldn't have.
:o are you saying I could sell out for wads of cash??
I never really hung out on RRR all that much. Maybe had a couple dozen posts. I never got along with Kaz either. I am sad that I lost a couple of reviews and PMs regarding Hero's Realm there, though.
All of the sites I used to visit are dead or mostly too - GW, Indie Gaming Portal, Ghostlight Games, Township Games (lol). Kind of sad really.
