The Job Board Rules

General Guidelines::

1) Make the title specific. Include a suitable prefix
Prefix your title with something suitable like [Request], [Offer], [Musician], [Scripter], [Writer], [Spriter] etc...as appropriate. It helps users identify at glance what you want or what you are offering. Also, titling the thread "Need some help lol" doesn't give anyone any idea what you want or need.

2) Give as much information as possible about what you are offering/requesting.
Vaguely worded or ambiguous posts just generate confusion. Give specific information about what you are offering.

3) Provide samples of your work (if possible).
When you are offering up your services, it is good to see what you are offering. We have youtube, mp3 and SoundCloud tags.

Examples
[youtube]url[/youtube] - Place the address of a youtube video to embed it in your post.

[mp3=url]mp3 description[/mp3] - The path to the MP3 file goes inside the tag after the =

Adding an imbedded Soundcloud is a littlelot kludgey but it's there.

On SoundCloud, go to the track's page, then click Share, then select Embed, copy the URL
ie:
<iframe width="100%" height="450" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/80463690&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=true"></iframe>

You see this section:
url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/80463690

Copy this track ID, and put them in soundcloud tags:

[soundcloud]80463690[/soundcloud]

When requesting for someone's help:

1) Be specific in your request, and give examples where relevant.
If it's a request for a resource, give a brief description of what you're looking for and be patient. Do not rape the topic by bumping it incessantly.

2) If you're hiring for a project, you'll need to be very thorough.
Give examples of your previous work, a link to images/information on the game, and tell us why we should care. Remember, you're trying to sell the project to people - they won't help you if they are uninterested. Also specify incentives/payment for helping with the project, if you are willing to give any. I have noticed a problem with these sorts of topics - IF YOU DO NOT CONFORM TO THESE RULES, YOUR TOPIC WILL BE LOCKED.

If you are requesting for someone else to help you make a project:

If you have just joined this site and do not know anyone, chances are that people are not going to respond to requests to make a project with you. Most people here are very busy with their own projects are not going to accommodate a random person they do not know. Your best chance is to network; get to know people, make friends, express interest in other peoples' projects, and provide feedback. Once people know who you are, they are much more likely to respond amiably to your requests, especially if you have done something to help them in the past.

These are the rules for this:
When asking for aid you MUST include at least as much information as someone who is creating a game page.

For those seeking help there must be:
- At least 500 words describing the game - what you're aiming for, game genre, story summary, systems planned, anything that will draw people in out of interest and what plans you have for the game itself. If you can't meet the word limit you don't have enough information to go looking for people to make the game with.
- 3+ screenshots of what you have so far or what you're capable of.
- Precise details about what you're looking for in people - what type of skills (mappers, writers, animators, musicians, etc); the skill level (beginner, advanced, professional); what you're looking to get out of them (a few sprites, 20 maps, an estimate of songs); what, if anything, you're willing to pay/recompense them with (nothing, monetary reward, t-shirts, something from the RMN store); the estimated amount/length of work (a few weeks, a couple of months, a year, until end of development).
- Past pieces of work, if applicable. This can be in the vein of written works, art, story boarding, games (even just flash ones) or anything that can show you have some sort of skill and the level of such.
- What you're willing to give in recompense. Is this a paid job? Is it an offer of some kind of service in return for the work? Do you expect free work?

In the case that a thread doesn't abide by these rules I will ask that it be updated. If after 48 hours it hasn't been, then I will move said topic to the Archives. I will not lock, so that the creator has the chance to edit and once edited, they may contact Liberty via PM and, if it meets the new rules, it will be moved back to the correct area.

In the case of rejection, topic spam will be met with warnings and/or bans, as per the site rules.

Failure to adhere to the guidelines above will likely result in your topic being locked, and/or ignored. Please be respectful of other peoples' time and effort.

Thanks,
The RMN Staff

Final Note:

If it's obvious you have not read this and repeatedly offend the rules, you will inevitably be banned for being a dingus. And, most likely, no one will miss you.

I spent a good 20 minutes looking for the Help Requests forum.
I think you should've announced this officially...

Sorry if I sounded like a weasel or anything, but really...

Kentona is going to punish me now for posting in the wrong forum!!! Ahh.... The world is a unfair place!
...It was created last night, on a (planned-ish) whim, karin. It's not as though it was a planned release. Anyone can see the board is there and understands what it is at a look.

@kory: It'll probably just be moved to the right place, don't fret.
I understand that Liberty, but still...
I remember when I used to be a dingus, and then I became an Addit.
I was wondering if it's against the rules to offer your services in exchange for donations. Sort of like Patreon, but with less strings attached.

I saw this on an art forum where an artist was offering to draw concept art and sketches or answer questions and provide help and people would donate to her in the form of amazon gift cards instead of just cash. It's not a model dedicated to make money, but it would allow a person to help people and do what they like while those who have been helped and want to give something back can donate to the person helping them. It provides incentive for the person helping to stay helping and a service for those who need it, even if they can't afford to donate anything.
Well, that should be okay. I mean, we allow for paid gigs, so doing work for donations is kind of the same.
It would be great if these rule screens were forced on a person trying to make a topic for the first time. I don't know if it's possible but if this were a game, I'd check for the number of topics the user created in the section they are posting to. If it's 0, they are shown a screen with the rules of that particular section and have to click |I Agree|.
I'll be adding some good examples up to the OP, when I come by them.
