Ok like...srsly now guys...that's like the third person who said they were terrified/expecting a harsh review/something of that ilk.
Why are some people so convinced that I am some kind of hardass reviewer? What am I missing here?

Sure why not, I'll go ahead and post this here :)

Hey, just an update. I have played most (not quite all) of the games people have requested I play in this thread that I actually feel like playing.
While I will still consider future requests, there are also many games that have not gotten requested and probably won't be that I want to try before the remaining "7 Days of Games-Mas" are up and the letters, achivements, and prizes have faded into the ether.
So basically this is just a friendly notice that "games requested in this thread" won't be taking automatic special precedence over "random games I see on RMN and feel like playing" from now on.

author=Max McGeeThank you, hm it is a little lengthy, I want to say 6-7 hours?
Looks tight, I'll give it a shot. How long is the demo?

It's my first and (technically) only finished game.
Not sure if you'll like it, though. I've been told that my game's weird in a weirdly weird way...

For the sake of courtesy, I am going to just let you know a couple games I won't be playing.
Farmyard Chronicles: Three step install process is too many steps. Sorry, but yes I am that lazy.
Touhou Fantasy: The files that comprise this game are too numerous and too gigantic.
I don't mean to be harsh but...packaging your game properly is a big part of making it accessible. While it might seem like throwing out a submission because I don't like the font used on the coverletter, when there are so many games vying for attention there's no reason to disqualify yourself by exporting or packing it in a bizarre and wonky way.
I'll go a step even further and say, if you're using RM2k3 or earlier, don't use an installer. Just zip your game into a single .rar archive or whatever. (flapbat, don't get me wrong, including fontpatch and harmony.dll is probably a really good idea when distributing games for the older engines.)
Edit: Whoops, didn't mean to make this a double post.

Agreed. I am very likely myself to just say "F**k it" if the download and installation isn't in just one file and ready to play when unziped or installed, although it would take a very interesting game to make me install something.
I'm forced to do it the way I am right now because Mediafire only goes up to 200 MB per rar (and obviously the music files won't fit in one rar at all. Hence why they're split up). That, and it's much easier to update the main game this way too as I don't have to reupload all of the music with the game. It's only the game and music packs you'd have to get anyways. *shrugs* But I guess if filesize bothers you...not much I can do about that sadly.
You've been told this several times: Remove music and make the downloads simpler to understand, preferably put it in one file and make it so that the download button actually downloads the game. Your current notes on what files are are cryptic at best and someone skimming RMN for games to play and finding yours is very likely to just say "Fuck it this shit is too complicated".
What does it take for you to understand this?
Also, in case you want to use the "b-but the touhou games were famous in part because of their great music! I need to also have great music!" defense: The original games also weren't sized 20 times the size one would expect from a game of the genre it comes from (that's actually a understatement).
Another note: Just because the game is in beta that doesn't mean it should be that much trouble to even play the game. It's strikes me as amateurish that you can't make a simple download.

...What part of "I cannot put more than 200 MB in a single rar" aren't you getting? There's no way I'm going to get 200 MB for just the game AND the music. It's just not happening. I can probably update the notes sure, but it's not like there's that many files to look at anyways, and it states what the current version of the game is and what to get right there at the bottom of the description.
Whatever, man. I'm frankly not interested enough to get into more discussion about this, plus it's not even relevant to the topic.
You seem dead set in your ways, anyway.
I'm sure it's impossible to fit a rpg maker game in a single 200 mb file. Nobody ever did it, after all.

If you could check out my game, Stricken, it'd be much appreciated!
Link.
(It's around 15 minutes long and an ALPHA for my game. It's kind of outdated, as I've changed quite a bit since releasing it, but a review would still be awesome.)

I have been patiently waiting for someone to give Dragon Lancer the 0.5 / 5 it so deserves.

I actually became a pretty big Dragonlance fan recently so...any relation?
@Xenomic: I think what we're trying to say is...are you SURE you absolutely need that much high quality music in the game? Are you positive it is all actually used? Etcetera.
I mean I understand...file bloat can happen pretty quickly to anyone. Making 100% sure everything included in a particular build is USED in that build is a tedious and kind of annoying extra step...but it is a NECESSARY step.
I think just generally speaking there are a lot of things you're perceiving as 'necessary' that really aren't. Do you really HAVE to use mediafire? What about RMN's very accommodating native hosting service? Do you HAVE to use multiple .rars? Do you HAVE to include that much MP3 music? And so on.

There's not much I can do about the music as it is. Taking out any of what's in the vanilla pack just wouldn't work right for some areas or situations at all. I've cut out a loooot of music as it is from both packs (and moved a lot from the Vanilla to the Extended or just outright removed from the game period), but I don't think there's any more that I could get rid of. ^^;
I don't know if RMN's own native hosting service would help. If I were to upload the game WITH the music (which heaven forbid I do that, it'd take too long to ever upload the blighter), that's roughly 300-400 MB alone. If I were to upload it with all of the music, that's about 700 MB. I don't think RMN's hosting service would like that. That, and with how often I update the game, I'd rather not upload them all together. And yes, I DO have to use multiple rars if I want to keep the filesize of each rar from getting too huge, especially since I'm using Mediafire right now (I tried using Skydrive, but it also has a 200 MB limit for those that don't have a Hotmail account).
Also yes, every track that's in both vanilla and extended packs are used in the game.
