RPG MAKER MV ANNOUNCED FOR PC AND MAC

Posts

I quite liked face gen. It was pretty powerful if you made your own custom content for it (really, think about it - you could make any kind of thing with it if you change out the layers for other things!) and I don't even mind the default parts, though I do question what the fuck they were thinking with some of the options given.

Just replace the crazy stuff with some of the custom/edited content that others have released and you have a decent generator. (Seriously what were they thinking with that mouth with the teeth? Did they actually pay someone to troll people?)
there is, at least, precedent within the genre for exaggeratedly ugly characters -- usually to fill minor antagonistic roles, or in extreme cases to reassure the player that they're not a romantic rival. I think it's a pretty gauche practice, but I guess it's good for something like this to present the option.

I kind of wish I still had the faces I put together with Ace's facegen -- they were really, really fun. many of the options didn't go together very well, but hey

anyway, 'mawk version' it is!

...RMXP had/has something for this, it was called "priorities...

RPG Maker XP had a lot of options in its map editor, but you had to micro a lot even to make simple maps, it was tedious. I kind of understand the fully automatic approach, but the MV one looks like it will be too oversimplified.

I'll never change. "Me" is better than your opinion, dummy!

It's obviously Monkey Vigilantes.
Silly me, I figured it was either "Mobile Version" or "Mak Vidyagaems"
'mobile version' seems like the best bet, but to be honest with you I'm still trying to figure out 'VX'

"Mak Vidyagaems"
I want it to be that.

It won't be, but that'd be the most awesome thing for it to be.

...Multi-version?
I guessed at Multi-variety a while back but that sounds way too dumb.

If it's just MultiVerse that'd be cool. Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense but then again I'm on a creative dev board called Dinoctopus.com so yeah, there's weirder.

Inb4 Money Vault

BECAUSE THEY BE MAKIN A HAAAAUUULLL.

Or might be, seems they've been pretty desperate this last year. Two large remakes which essentially were still inferior due to legal issues, then publishing Action001.

INTRODUCING PLUGIN MANAGER (Yasss)
By adding js files in the project's plugin folder, you will be able to select the plugin in the Plugin Manager. You can see script details, script parameters and the ability to set it ON and OFF. Using Plugin Manager will be much easier to use than the old format. Allowing minimal user interference to prevent errors and easily order the scripts than the previous makers.
________________________

EVENT SEARCHER
One of the missed functions from RPG Maker 2003, The Event Search function is back! The bigger your game gets, the more Variables, Switches and Events you'll use. It quickly becomes harder to manage and find specific parameters. Using the Event Search tool will allow you to save time and quickly see all instances of a particular variable or switch!

I now want someone to make a game with 2000 items.

In all seriousness, thank god the Event Search is back. That feature was IMMENSELY useful back in 2011 when I was making a community-oriented game with 2003. Official mouse support is pretty sweet, too.

mii verse

e: also, it might sound a little boring on paper but increasing database caps is one of those big 'can't hurt, might help' things that someone could easily have a use for sooner or later. it's pretty clear that one of their goals with MV is to create an engine as versatile and multifunctional as possible in a field where engines like UE4 and Cryengine are growing more accessible to hobbyists, and I feel like a lot of the 'boring' backend stuff is there to ensure nobody runs into a wall with MV and switches to a competitor's product.
