REGARDING COMMERCIAL RM GAMES...

Okay, first off, if I posted this in the wrong spot, please move this for me, alright? I haven't been posting enough to be able to determine that much on my end.
Er... *ahem* okay, here are the questions I have in mind for this thread, if you guys don't mind answering:
1) What would be considered the flat rate for an RPG Maker game, as in, one without the fancy gimmicks of most commercial games of the type?
2) What would you be willing to pay for an RPG Maker game with custom graphics, but no custom anything else?
3) What would you be willing to pay for an RPG Maker game with custom audio, but no custom anything else?
4) What would you be willing to pay for an RPG Maker game with custom scripts, but no custom anything else?
5) What would you be willing to pay for an RPG Maker game with custom movie files, but no custom anything else?
6) What would you be willing to pay for an RPG Maker game with custom stuff in two or more categories?
I'm just asking this in advance, because I'm planning to develop a commercial RPG Maker game that would have more bang for the dollar, if that even makes sense. I'm still in the process of determining the details regarding this game, though I do know it'll be a science fantasy game, at least to some degree.

If you use RTP and it's 1-2 hours I wouldn't pay more than $1. If that.
If it were all custom and 1-2 hours with no replaybility, then maybe $3.
If it were all custom and about 6-10 hours with no replaybility, then maybe $6-10. Maybe. It'd have to be really good though. Like, really good.
Honestly, unless it's a great game in most ways I wouldn't bother purchasing an RM game. I have two I have bought, one was through a sale for $2 and it was meh, another was .50c and I want my money back.
Just make a game that you want to make, do the best on it then price it after. Don't think about shit like this til you have a game to sell.
I would gladly pay $15 for Hero's Realm remake, though. It was a great game with a lot of engaging gameplay. ;p
Edit: I forgot to add that if a game uses RTP but uses it really, really well, not just 'slap a sample map here and done' or 'this wardrobe is enough to fill my room!!!' bullshit, then I might consider it. If the rest of it is good enough.

The only RM games I've bought have been parts of bundles. Though I've always bought the bundles for the other games but there have been some RM games as part of it.
For me to even consider buying an RM game it'd probably have to have all custom assets. (or nearly all. Certain stock sound effects I wouldn't even recognize if you hit me with them. Except for the opening of a fridge sound effect from Fallout or that one particular laser sound effect from Alpha Centauri. Though I wouldn't even mind if they were there because that'd just be like a Wilhelm scream for me)
Once the hurdle of making a game that was completely unique is over then the game itself would have to be interesting too. Which is probably more difficult.
But this is all, you know, personal preference. I realize I am not the target market at all. As I generally don't even like jrpg-style games.
19,99 - 24,99 is a decent price for a good indie title. That makes room for going down (and also room for temporary heavy discounts)

I'd be more inclined to buy an RPG Maker game if the developer has free projects completed that I can check out; someone I know does good, quality work. If not, it would have to come highly recommended. I have plenty of RPG Maker games I still need to play that are free.
While I admit that custom assets are a big draw, to me knowing the developer can deliver a polished, fun project is even more important.

Okay, this all is pretty informative... thank you, guys.
...may as well get to making a couple free games first. I mean, it's been a long while since I was able to work on a game, so I have to make sure I don't screw this up (on the off-chance I get to make a commercial game).

I'd buy a lot of games from this video if their advertising (like in this video) was bada$$. I'd pay for a lot of these games based on my first impression on this video, but that's because I print money for a living, game design is just a hobby I recently got into.
lol i hope you realize a lot of the games in that video weren't released afaik, or they were just tech demos. also i would NEVER buy an action game made in rpg maker.

Well, they missed their opportunity of me throwing money at their face =-D
I sometimes pick them up if they're 1-2 bucks. I haven't really gotten around to most of them, though so I don't know if they're really worth it (Last Dream certainly wasn't. Ugh).
If I ever sold an RPGmaker game, I'd sell it for a buck, maybe two at most. That's it. Even though I make short-but-sweet games that I've been told are well designed, with good stories, I am under no illusions that I'm making it with RPGmaker, and thus, the overall perceived value isn't much.
That and as a cheapass-steam-sale-rat-with-a-low-budget, I know that I personally am pretty harsh with what I'm willing to pay for games too. (Seriously, as fun as I Am Bread looks, I'm not paying more than 2 bucks for it).
Plus, I make games in RPGmaker mostly for the fun of it anyway (and to put on portfolios of my work).
Honestly, I'd rather just give out my games for free and have a donation button so if anyone wants to drop me some money as thanks, they can.

10 Dollars for a mostly RTP game that paints itself as some revolutionary go-back to the older RPG franchises, and has really bad battle UI, and I'm not even referring to people I've talked to who have played it and prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt, I'm talking about just the trailer. No wonder they only show it so briefly. 3 seconds of gameplay and it looks jenky and cluttered and just... eww.
Also I think the most hilarious part is that they're asking $5 for the DLC strategy guide.
Half the reason I've opted to remain free outside of my moral willingess to share is to spite buttholes who post games like that.
