COMMUNITY/FORUMS DIFFERENT LINKS?

I'm not sure if I brought this up before, but is there a functional reason why

http://rpgmaker.net/forums/

exists as a page, as opposed to

http://rpgmaker.net/portal/community/

?

It seems counterintuitive to have two pages easily navigable, but one have way less content, especially when that content is community content, things that are vital to this community. In my opinion, it seems less than optimal that the http://rpgmaker.net/forums/ (the page with less content) exists at all, but even then, I think a viable alternative would be to have the Community Portal the default, with the option in everyone's profile/on the userbar at the top to set it to forum only if they so please.

It makes sense to me to give the Community Portal as much visibility as possible, as opposed to having the Forums and Community exist side by side, with one being a much watered down version of the other.
I'm all for making the Community page the only page...
Yeah like, I'm not sure why that wasn't the case to begin with. Like, how much potential traffic towards the various community stuff on the right side of the page has blown by the wind because a lot of people just don't see it? It's easy to say 'well, its there, they just have to click it', but people's pattern of web browsing all over the internet speaks otherwise; visibility matters, and people tend to 'settle' on what they see and what they click first. Comparatively speaking, the Community Portal is not visible, and it's not optimal.

I'm all for setting the Community Portal as the only portal, unless a user sets it otherwise on their profile. I'm pretty sure I brought this up before, and the reply was more or less 'lol ok'

I never even knew http://rpgmaker.net/forums/ existed

It does indeed, and it's actually kind of annoying.

I'm all for making the "community" page the one and only default page.

Definitely. Even worse, many new users may not know to click on the 'Community' and go straight to the Forums page.

I'm on board with making it Community over forums!

My habit is clicking community 100 times a day so while I can't say it bothers me I definitely think making it the standard is a good idea if people might be missing out on the good page
Yeah, I'm all for this idea too. I mean, I myself used to always click on Forums too, only to later find out about Community which contains more useful content than Forums.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Until very recently my bookmark went to the forums page because I don't really know why anyone would want to read a blog of a game they're not already following, and I don't think statuses should even exist on RMN.

But then I decided: eh, whatever. Even though I hate that statuses exist, a lot of them are posted by people I like. I guess they've been around long enough that my innate hatred of change has had time to wear off.
you know damn well that you brought this up before and no I haven't gotten around to addressing it yet

Fair points, but;

1. I've discovered quite a bit of content I wasn't already following through blogs
2. The Statuses have potential; I liked the idea of my Mogtips (which, I need to start on that again...)

Hey man, be nice; I actually wasn't sure if I brought it up before, but I did go check after I made this topic. I did, but hey, I don't regret bringing it up again! I think it's really important.
I'm more mad at myself. No discipline
Nah man, it's cool, I still love you.

I just really want to see the site succeed and grow, man. I love it here.
