Pokémon: Evan's Adventure
It was a Pokémon fan game made in RPG Maker 95.
The site is still there, but the download doesn't work.

I have the demo from when it was still in development, if anyone is interested in that, but I can't seem to find the full game anywhere.

I don't actually know if it was ever technically finished, but there's definitely a version with a conclusion.
I remember there being a lab, where Mew was being cloned, and this ridiculous MissingNo. thing where a town is glitchy and corrupted, and Evan eventually faces the big bad and defeats them, and the game ends shortly thereafter.

Anybody have this gem lying around anywhere?

Anyway, I want to try these games just to see what they are like, but I'm only interested in non-default battle system VX or above, and I can't be downloading all of them (some of which are demos) to find out. Hopefully some description for each entry is coming soon, or maybe have RMN pages for them? (I know some people have uploaded vgperson's games on here, so I suppose it would be appropriate)

...I want to nip this in the butt before it dissolves into another argument over copyright infringement - Because it’s been said to death here on RMN.

I want to make this clear: I’m all for fan games, I’m all for preserving them – in fact I strongly encourage their creation:

The Beatles did Elvis covers songs in Hamburg, throughout their career before becoming the Beatles.

Todd McFarlane drew Spider-Man and even began his own line, Spider-Man #1 before leaving Marvel with Jim Lee to form Image Comics and create Spawn.

Naughty Dog built a replica of Crescent Island from Diddy Kong Racing, not only because Diddy Kong Racing was considered a fun game, but also in order to see if a racecourse of the same scale and scope was possible on the Playstation.

There is a certain value to be found in studying and working from a great creative work. I don’t think it’s right to discourage anyone from doing that.

But performing a cover song, working for Marvel Comics and copying an entire level from an N64 game for testing purposes, become entirely different things, once their distributed and shared over the internet.

So if you are going to make a fan game, do so at your own discretion.

...I want to make this clear, because it's been said so many times here on RMN and I really I want this to be the last thing that’s said about the ethics of copyright infringement on this particular thread – Our focus here is on preservation.

Like, I’m still going to mention DMCA dings, in case something gets taken down or I have to switch servers. But if you really want to talk about the ethics of copyright infringement, I kindly ask you to please ❤ talk about that in a different thread.

Updates:

I know I said this, a few months ago, but please give a special thank to anyon175 when you have the chance.

I’ve added and converted anyon175’s games to the master list:

These games were originally a selection of rpgmaker games from the community that Top Games Especial a Brazil Video Game Magazine Publication had selected and burned onto disc to go along with their monthly magazine - Vash of CentroRPG was fortunate enough to be able to upload these games their site along with pictures, which I've added to the mainlist as well.

Note: you will need Harmony.DLL and RMk2 RTP and RM2k3 RTP in order to play these games. (I plan on eventually converting these games, to standalone rpgmaker games and adding them to the archive as well, so people can just play them.)

On that note, I’ve also added the list of Brazillian rpgmaker communities that anyon175 had kindly mentioned, previously to the Game’s List. Be sure to check those out as well. I never get tried of seeing new rpgmaker communities outside of RMN, so I just want to thank you again anyon175 for sharing this with us, this really is how communities grow. ❤

I guess, the easiest thing to do right now would be to sort through the discs for rpgmaker games.(…I’m actually very curious about the other games as well, but whatever is easier for you to upload right now, anyon175):

RM2000/RM2003 games will usually have a RPG_RT.exe and RPG_RT.ini file

To distinguish between the two engines, as Liberty previously mentioned:

RM2000 games will have Battle/System folders available

Whereas RM2003 games have Battle 2/BattleCharset/BattleWeapon/System 2 folders available.

(EDIT: there’s probably more rpgmaker games made with different engines on these discs, like RM95 and RMXP - but hopefully someone could tell us what’s the difference between these engines as well, as I’m not too familiar with them. But I’ll also add this info to the first page.)

Going forward, I will be converting all the games from the masterlist into standalone rpgmaker games for the torrent, with the (gamename)(author)(engine)format, but as stated previously I won’t be adding more detailed descriptions to the master list, (if I do, it’ll be very brief) because revising, editing and managing this thread through RMN’s bbcode, just takes way too much time, it's just way too cumbersome to use.

Most of that effort will be going towards creating this torrent, so that more people can contribute and preserve this archive, rather than just one person, preserving and distributing all these games alone. Once it's in this format, that's when we'll start thinking about creating more detailed descriptions for each game and how to sort through them.

I'll be also making small changes to the first page, adding more instructions on how to create lists of yours games, convert them to stand alone games etc.

...Currently I'm stuck on trying to convert Dooms 5 into a standalone playable format.(I can seem to get it to work on my laptop running windowsXP with RM2003RTP installed, but I can't seem to get it work on windows 7 as a standalone game, but rest assured I'll upload it once it's fixed)

I’m gonna keep my responses to a minimum, until I can finish the torrent and other things I’ve mentioned above, but rest assured, I am listening to your feedback and I really do appreciate what you guys have to say.

Alright. Here are two things that I decided to upload at the moment.
Dooms 4 - Voice Acting
Dooms 5 - Endless - Demo - NOT

EDIT: I got Dooms 5 to work! - I just placed rmtools.exe in the wrong folder, so it didn't import the RTP files correctly - will upload that along with dooms 4, dooms 4 w/ the voice pack and instructions for rmtools.exe.

As for Dooms 4 - Voice Acting. It seems to be a 200mb patch for Dooms 4:

How to apply the patch: Do not, I repeat DO NOT overwrite your original Dooms 4 copy with this patch!!! I did not add any of the content from the original version to save disc space, so overwriting Dooms 4 copy will make the game corrupt!! Rather, go to a folder like "Sounds" and exact its contents to the Dooms 4 directory. Only over write maps and such general things. Make sure there doesn't appear a sub directory like "Dooms4 -> Sounds" under the sounds. (If that happens, go into the folder and cut the contents to the main sounds root)Repeat progress with "battle", "facesets", "music", and "pictures" and you're good to go.

So I'm going to convert Dooms 4 to a standalone rpgmaker game. Then I'll copy it and add the voice patch, so you'll have two versions:

Dooms 4 - End Game (51MB)
Dooms 4 - End Game: Voiced Edition (200MB)(temporary, will add to torrent)

Dooms 5 - Demo (Fixed)(will add this to main shortly, might need someone to play it past the intro...)

Good to see this an updated thread of this going strong. I've got several gigabytes worth of RM games, and it seems quite a few of them aren't available online anymore.

I should get on that: Infinita story is a classic

SailorMoon RPG and Dragon’s Adventure are both VX – like, it really doesn’t matter what system there games are made for, people are still going to look for these games. So ya, upload them.

I downloaded "The Story Of The Earth And Star" from CentroRPG and finished it today. While it is pretty generic and suffers from horrible English (Misao 2005 Worst Dialogue Award), it is complete, of decent length and has its heart in the right place. Plus: It must be one of the few RPG Maker 2000 JRPGs (I don't know another apart from this one) that utilizes a side-view battle system. Since I enjoyed playing it, it should be worth preserving.

The CentroRPG version, though, lacks a huge amount of necessary resources. Even though RPG Maker 2000 is pretty forgiving in this regard (it accepts nearly all bullshit replacements as long as the file is generally compatible), I opted for a better solution. Fortunately, I own a legal copy of RPG Maker 2000, so I just inserted the missing resources. Feel free to add my "playable edition" to the master list (I will remove this download link as soon as one of the bigwigs attends to this matter):

Known (game-breaking) bug: When riding the ship to Asta and the Ghost Ship appears, a soldier now stands in front of the stairs in the ship's eastern part. He is supposed to block access to the stairs, but the player can still sneak past. Don't do this, though, because the game freezes on the way back.

Edit: Removed the download link to my "master RTP folder" because it doesn't work as intended (it's still required to manually copy & paste missing resources). And, of course, in order to avoid a potential lawsuit. :D

Do you still have an original copy of "The Story of the Earth and Star" by any chance? I wanted to recreate the issue you had with this game, just for posterities sake. It sounds like the same issue I had when I was downloading a handful of centrorpg's games earlier this month - most of these games came from Top Games Especial that came off a demo disc - they required to have rpgmaker2000 RTP files and harmony.dll already installed in order to play them - as a result most of these games won't work without these core files.

...But an easy way to fix this is by using a program called RMtool.exe (which I'll upload here eventually)But It scans the game's rpgmaker database for all the necessary files that particular game uses and you can import them into the game as well as purge any other unnecessary files that aren't in use within the rpgmaker folder - It's a really great program to have, which I've been using a lot while turning these games into stand alone rpgmaker games. and it's alot easier than trying to fix these "file not found" errors by hand, which can be extremely time consuming.

But ya, I plan to eventually write a little tutorial up on how to use this program and how to turn any rpgmaker game into a standalone rpgmaker game as well, once I get around to it.

Thanks for the insight, LordBlueRouge. This is the first time I hear about RMtool.exe, and it seems it isn't that easy to find via a simple google search. Provided this tool does what you describe, I'm looking forward to your upload + tutorial. Until then, maybe my master RTP folder can serve as a stopgap measure. Since I wasted a couple of hours on this (as you suspected), I want at least to test if it works.

Unfortunately, I've been around only for a few years, so I don't possess any original versions of these old RPG Maker games. Everything I found in this regard was through this terrific thread. I'm sorry I can't provide any meaningful help.

By the way: I played "Zephyrus And The Kingdom Of Heaven" a few months ago. You might want to edit the master list (it says "King" instead of "Kingdom"). Furthermore, it's likely that "Zephyrus Complete" is the exact same game, because it features the same download size. Might be worth investigating in order to not confuse any interested players.

I downloaded and played OceanPower from this CentroRPG site. While playing the game, it crashed several times, because it needed a few of the 38 files Don Miguel had added to his RTP - the ones mentioned here:

Since I couldn't find those files on the internet, I replaced them with whatever I deemed appropriate, which nonetheless caused some weird effects (e.g. I had to bear with some NPCs being walking accessory symbols), but at least made the game playable.

The bottom line is that it doesn't suffice to have the RPG Maker 2000 RTP from the software's commercial release. In order to play some of those old games (especially the ones found on CentroRPG), you also need Don Miguel's added RTP files. Hopefully, RMtool.exe will be able to deliver on this front, too.

Short answer is, RMTool.exe works in conjunction with Don Miguel's/RPG Advocate's Rpgmakers RTP files

For now, downloading and installing the following files will help fix this issue and make these games playable:

What else... Well, like I had said, I started searching for RPGMaker games in old forums and from old backups and I found some old games that I had downloaded from the old segnin thread I believe... Some may have been from iishenron's Queens Court though.
Well, I don't know if those are actually still missing or have been recovered but I made a list from the directory contents so that you guys could sort it out and see what is missing or not.

Please let me know if this was the game you were looking for, if you able to get it to work, or if you run into any problems on your end - I had to contact the creator to get a hold of this, and we had to sort of work together, to figure out how to get the game working again on modern systems.

Really cool friendly guy, probably one of the nicest rpgmakers I've ever met.

Previously, someone had asked for LLIV:The Guardian of Light, and it turned out this wasn't the game they were looking for at all, but another game entirely. So if this is in fact "The Lost legend IV:The Guardian of light." Let me know. People have been asking for this one for maybe 5-10 times over the past 10 years.

But yeah, if this is the game, be sure to also check out the rest of Wonderslime's games on RMN. The creator is a really COOL guy, I can't say this enough.

But yeah, again, I apologize profusely. Later today, I'll format/convert it and add it to the masterlist.

EDIT: ~~I just downloaded the "fixed" version to see it was actually fixed - it's not. I'm working on that right now~~
Done. Revising the above link with the new download.
- For anyone still wondering about the conversion tutorial, I'm working on that right now as we speak as well.

LordBlueRouge(and everyone involved) ,you`re doing a great job with these old games.
A private torrent should be great.I can always seed .Maybe i have some old RM games,i will take a look.
