You might want to try asking eplipswich, who did the translation of Seraphic Blue, with Tempura's approval.

If nothing else, eplipswitch made a blog back in 2014 about how Tempura's site was defunct, even back then, and provided a video of Sacred Blue's gameplay.

*Edit: On a different note, it is good to see you back, however briefly, LordBlueRouge. Though, aside from that, my reality check has rolled a nat-1. See, I was reading "FFTA", and I was temporarily confusing the acronym with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, rather than Final Fantasy Time and Again!
Hello,

As said Marrend, asking the translator of the game is probably the best guess.

Anyway, here is the page of the initial download : http://web.archive.org/web/20021001082916/http://www2.odn.ne.jp/~caq12510/sbdown.htm
It was archived under several parts (side A-B-C, on file for BMP and one for sounds) on an external site because of the files size.

For those interested, you can still find the second game (Stardust Blue) here. However, a part with addons called "Extras" is missing aswell.
And there also seemed to be a project about transforming this project into RPG Maker 2000 that can be found here.

the ESA simply sends mediafire a series of words to look for and take down said material - a similar event happened a few years ago, when they were taking down "Smash Bros" and "Tales of"

I just got an update today, I was right. Here are the IPs they're currently looking for. Below are the files that have currently been suspended.
Not all of these are from the archive, but stuff like the Non-RTP version of Final Fallacy, which I accidentally renamed to "Final Fantasy" got taken down - however, "Final Fallacy" wasn't taken down.

I still have these on the externals. They had about 50-100 downloads each while they were up.
But yeah, I'll update once I've figured out a way to reupload.

EDIT: I can't believe someone found Obama RPG, great find!
Man, this thread really took off during 2018-2020...
Okay, so small update. I picked up where I left off with this thread. Ghaby's been through here at least twice now. But we now have at least 30GBs worth of old rpgmaker games. Unfortunately, because mediafire has a limit of 10GB and they're already taken down some of the games I mentioned earlier, I'm gonna try giving megaupload a shot and see how that goes.

I'm not crazy about megaupload, so for now, it's just gonna be a temporary solution. Expect some changes.

EDIT: ...Okay, this is a lot of games to go through, I'm gonna make a quick judgement call here, so this will be easier to get done; Because Mediafire takes down .exe .zip files that look suspicious/use copyright material. I'm gonna simply put the original files ,unaltered, in a .rar with the tag:

Title (Author)(Engine)(Date)
so for example:

Phantom Legacy (Nightblade)(RM2k3)(2008).rar

So it'll be very easy to quickly identify, the engine, when it was released, but also which version. Darken mentioned the importance of getting the dates for historical and preservation purposes - I want to retain that. However, stuff like determining whether a game is a demo or complete, I'll leave for specific circumstances, in order to save time.
Hello,

I know the game was found, but in case of missing files, you can find various demos/contents for Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time Deluxe. Here you go.
There are some other "lost" games (front page dead) that can be found this way too, as long as you have the page id and it's still alive.

Much appreciated.
*Just happens to catch LBR posting*

Holy crap how have I missed this for almost a month? I apologize for slightly derailing the topic but it's so good to see you around again, LBR. You are missed.

I'll at least try to add to the topic to state I still have some old GGZ titles in my possession, although I'm pretty sure I've already mentioned that here previously.
Hi all, first off, it's amazing what's been accomplished in this thread. I can't believe how much history has been preserved here, and the living active knowledge base.

Poking around after 21 years... I saw that Don's original rm2k board is no more. Shucks.

Coming to ask if anyone has the original Densetsu for rm2k. To be clear, it's not the CBS version as listed on iishenron's page, but the "Hi, I'm Alex and this is my full RTP kit" version that was released before the CBS version.

Asking for a friend.

Thanks man! it's good to see you too! The first thing I wanted to before anything is catch up on the archive, cause I said I'd get it done before January 2021 and there's not a whole lot of time left. Yea, I think I asked about that a few pages back, I'll have to double check, but currently:

I do not have Rogue's Tale
I do not have Flitwick
I do not have Round4ClashSaved

If you still have those Illy, let me know! upload them if you can, I'd love to have them.

Nevermind, I double checked, I have them. Thank you Illy!

Thank you for the kind words maxim809! I added your request to the list. I'm not that familiar with Don Miguel era stuff, since I only came in around 2007, but I did try digging around: https://web.archive.org/web/20011206162609if_/http://www.rpgmaker2000.narod.ru/index.htm (courtesy of RMhistoria) Someone more familiar, might be able to help out, but like all things in this thread, it may take awhile to uncover.

EDIT: I already posted this in the gamingw thread, but I thought I'd post it here too - Would anyone still have Silver4donut's Monopolo for posterity's sake? I think TheGameArchivist has it, but I didn't get a chance to ask him when he came to help Gari this year with some rpgmaker game requests, so it may be awhile before we're able to get in touch with him again. But Monopolo would be an interesting game to include alongside Carius's RM2k3 Arcade game "Pirates" and Jenna's RM2k3 Action RPG "Lands of Lunori".

LordBlueRouge, I'm not sure if you know this, but, Silver4Dountus goes under the name of Addit now-a-days. Saying that, I have no idea if he's still working on it, or what all version(s?) of the game he might still have.
So... here goes.

I'm looking for a pretty obscure title.

It was an RPG maker title called The Eternals (im 99% sure), and it starred mainly 3 heroes, Balto, Kenshin, and Zelot(? not 100% sure about this one) who had a random ability transforming into other beasts or magic machines, sometimes with no control over it. That was the mechanic you explored in battle constantly kind of like a summoning ability. One of the antagonists was Zeno and im pretty sure he was an Eternal or something as you fought him a few times, and the RPG maker game used Raise Thy Sword from Soul Calibur when you did

Ive been on and off looking for this but i just cant find it.

i searched all the RPG maker game archives I could find, but i'd say it was about 85-90% exhaustive, im not too sure

im fairly certain it was RPG Maker 2003 based, but it was definitely either 2000 or 2003

And there was definitely a plot point about the heroes more rapidly turning into those creatures and trying not to permanently turn into monsters

If anyone has this, please let me know.
Just a quick update with this.
I'm staring down a list of maybe 300 new games to add to the master list.
But like TGA mentioned a few years back, I'm having similar trouble trying to quickly determine
which rpgmaker engine is which. From what I can gather so far:

Rpgmaker 95 has pictures and .dat files
Rpgmaker 2000 has "Battle" folder for Battle Animations
Rpgmaker 2003 has a "Battle2" folder for Battle Animations
Rpgmaker XP has a green/orange icon .exe installer or a game.exe/game.ini (is this right?)
Rpgmaker VX has a "Data" folder. (is this right?)
Rpgmaker VX has a "System" folder (is this right?)
Rpgmaker MV has a "img" folder (is this right?)
Rpgmaker MZ (not sure/don't have)

Any help is appreciated. Being able to determine which rpgmaker engine each game
is while looking at them through a .zip/.rar will save me a lot of time here.
Hello.

Most RPG Maker are rather easy to recognize to their icon, except for rm2000/2003.
- RM95 can be easily recognized as it's the only one with audio and picture file types on a common folder (and the .dat files). Always looking messy.

- For 2000/2003, there is indeed the Battle2 folder that can make the difference, with icon versions (2 for RM2000, 3 or 4 for 2003...). Plus, icons were often modified. But I guess you can actually emulate those games with a program (without unzip).

- For XP/VX/Ace, the icons are different (orange with a dragon for XP, modern grey horse for VX, modern red dragon for ace).
If you have a modified icon or the case of a modified editor (XP Ace system uses XP editor with ace dll), you can look at those extentions : Game.rgssad (xp)/ rgss2a (vx) / rgss3a (ace). If the project isn't encrypted, the dll or the project icon name is the easiest (XP : 100+ ; VX : 200+ ; Ace : 300+). What you said is right, but the Data and System folder (VX) are only present when unemcrypted. When crypted, only the Audio folder remains most of the time (because of the native probleme of VX with compression ?). But since you will always have the game.rgss in case of encrypted game, it shouldn't be too hard to determine most of the time.

MV : folders are locales, shiftsshader and www
MZ : same folders, and many others (audio, css, data, effects, fonts...) => I opened Wolfsgang, I'm unsure if MZ can't be more compact with less files to be seen). The many dll look to be exactly the same, so the difference would probably be in the icon aswell (small man for MV, and a heavy blue/black box for MZ).

@ProjectRevolutionTPP : Indeed, obscure is the word. The title is pretty gereric, do you remember other things ? (the dev, the site you found it at the time ?)
I looked with your keywords associated (names) and in the wayback (GamingWorld) but no answer. But my knowledge of english community is bad.

In regards to telling engines apart, I was taking a look at our engines page, and seeing how relevant they are versus what you actually see for the executables. I can quickly verify a few of these, which I will go over now.

That's the icon the aforementioned page has for VX. The default icon for EXEs made with VX (that I can see, at least) are more of a Knight from Chess (ie: a horse). I don't remember what icon RPGVX.exe used.

Here's the icon we use for Ace. However, the default icon for EXEs made with Ace look more like a dragon's head. The EXE for Ace, itself, looks more like...

...this.

Here's the icon we use for MZ. My MZ trial has expired quite some time ago, but, I think this is at least the icon for RPGMZ.exe?
My games list program identifies the following types:
- 2000/2003 (it considers both of these as the same, but I could probably change that)
- XP
- VX
- VX Ace

I couldn't find a good way to identify MV, though I also didn't have a lot of examples to draw upon. I have zero examples of MZ.

If you haven't checked out the utility yet, I encourage you to do so. It was built to help with this topic.

Thanks hedge! I took a look at it before previously, but didn't realize you figured out a way to also list creation dates! (you also added bbcode forum support, holy shit!♥) This is gonna save a lot of time! Thank you!!

Yes! this would be extremely helpful, if it's not too much trouble. Thank You! Most of the new games we got over the years in this thread are the old unofficial rpgmaker2000/2003 games. If there's a way you could edit the parameters so that, not only does it detect old rpgmaker2000/2003 games, but scans and detects Battle 2 folders and immediately designates it as 2003 games, this would also help out a lot and save a lot of time.

...Also, I don't know how difficult this next request would be but, most of the games right now are in zip/rar files. Would it be possible to have RPG Maker Games List scan through rar/zip and still detect the games? or would I still have to extract each game into folders in order to have it detected by RPG Maker Games List? Eitherway, no worries. I'll get this done no matter what.

EDIT: ...Man, now I feel shitty I couldn't find the Crystals: Legend of the Sword thread - I can't remember if I mentioned this previously, so if I'm treading old ground here, let me know, but it is possible to make a new account on saltw.net to check the archive thread. I tested this out with "pizzaguy321" and was able to access the forum archives 2005-2012 thread. But like I mentioned to Darken recently, the old gamingw threads are there, but everything seems to be a mess and not everything seems to be there.

On Episode 10 of Cash's RPGMAKER Cola podcast I can't remember where, but while talking about GamingW, Nessiah mentioned that when the site switched hands, Drule or someone at some point, deleted half the forums, because hosting became way too expensive at some point, so in order to save space they needed to shave down the forums, but they weren't upfront about it, which caused some anger - I can't confirm this, but that probably explains why I still can't seem to find some of the older threads. I still poke around sometimes trying to figure out where everything went - like even trying to look for an old Beloved Rapture thread, that I know is there, doesn't seem to be there anymore on the current forums. Eitherway, I'll continue to poke around.

...Not to get reflective or anything, but back in 2009 I honestly thought places like gamingw, rpgrpgrevolution, I honestly thought they would be around forever. I never thought they were in danger of disappearing. If I knew what I know now, I would've never been a lurker. I would've stepped in sooner, I would've done something, like I'm doing right now - this shit really sucks. It's like your favorite college or school disappearing and all the textbooks are being taken away.

EDIT2: I'm gonna take another shot at Crystals: Legend of the Sword, it may not be on saltw, but it could still be on gamingw.net through webarchive. If possible,do you remember what year and which thread RPG made the post in? I remember the year, from the forum signature we found last time, it might be from 2006.

http://web.archive.org/web/20060507183708/http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=45611.0

EDIT3: Nevermind I just remembered what you wrote back in march 2019; apparently it's not backed up by webarchive, but there's gotta be another way to it. I'm scanning through the game & demo archive thread on saltw, I'll have to check again but it seems as though only the posts from 2007 and onward were saved.

EDIT4: I'm looking at this wrong, there are actually posts from 2006 in here, but not from the game & demo thread. Perhaps what Nessiah said was right.
posting this as a quick reminder to myself to add later:

Glad you finally had a chance to try it out! I'm not going to lie, I am a bit disappointed more people haven't done so. I put a lot of work into it, and I really do think it's a great way for people to view and play all of the games they have. I wish this site had a way to advertise utilities.

Note that the "creation dates" are just last modified dates on some key files, so no promise on their accuracy. But it was the best I could come up with.

I've uploaded a new version (https://rpgmaker.net/engines/other/utilities/216/) that splits out rm2k from rm2k3. That was easy. Adding functionality to find games in .zip files was considerably harder. And looking inside .rar files proved impossible. Those use a proprietary format, and while 7zip does offer a utility I could have leveraged to extract the files, it does not offer anything that can read the archive without extraction. And if I have to extract the files, that kind of defeats the purpose (and would possibly make the program act more like a virus running through your files and extracting everything).

I appreciate all the work you do to help preserve our history, so don't feel bad. As for making a login, I tried that and kept getting an error that I already had an account. Requesting a password reset did nothing. I could probably make a fake email to get it to work, but I don't remember if that had forum access restrictions attached. Either way, I'm not super optimistic at this point it's still out there.

Agreed! It's one of the first things I'm gonna put up once I finished rehauling the thread, but I'm also gonna post it on my profile page and maybe a few other places for easier access. Thank you for doing this hedge1! This update is already saving me a lot of time. The only thing left to determine would be Creator/Author names, but since we often have to play through these games to find this info, I'll leave that up to the userbase to determine.

Again, thank you for doing this hedge1. I'm going to make it a point to mention RMGamelists more.

I can confirm this works. All you need is a username, password and email address to create a new account; saltw doesn't require email authorization yet so you should be good to go once you register - once you do, you'll gain access to the read only archives from 2005-2012. If you're still having trouble registering however, let me know and I'll see if I can create a dummy account for you.

On gamingw your username was hedge<1>, I'll probably name the new account hedge1 and PM you the details. Let me know though, if you're still having trouble registering.

And if I have to extract the files, that kind of defeats the purpose (and would possibly make the program act more like a virus running through your files and extracting everything).

There is a way to do it, but it is done in possibly one of the worst ways possible and makes you dependent on 7zip itself. I coded it up for a completely different reason, but essentially you would do "7zip.exe" l -ba "archive_file". Then you would get the program output, getline the output, remove characters 0 to 53, and put those files in a vector.

Like I said, horrible way to solve the problem, but it solves it. I'm trying to find a way to do it without being dependent on external software, but I don't have a good solution for that at the moment. From what I've seen, libarchive supports a ton of filetypes for c++, but I haven't really poked at it enough to see if it even helps with getting filelists.

EDIT: libarchive will allow you to add support for listing files in rar. I just finished coding and I was able to read both earlier rar files and rar5. RAR has more limited capabilities due to it being closed, but you should be able to accomplish this with it. If you are able to, use vcpkg. It will make that part a lot easier. Also, to warn you. libarchive is heavy. If you compile it statically, it will raise your executable to over 3MB.

If there is a need for another utility for sorting, specify exactly what is needed and I'll code something up if it is possible, or get as close as I can. As far as detecting different RPG Maker versions, I would need the differences laid out. Preferably something different from strictly the executable, due to them possibly being patched.
