OLD/LOST RPGMAKER GAMES - SEGNIN'S RARE/OBSCURE RM GAMES REQUEST TOPIC

Posts

Maybe you have the corrupted download. I've it under the version 2.0, it's missing essential data (lmt and ldb).
I found another link (maybe hedge's repository?), but it's one day earlier (07/21/2005 instead of 07/22/2005): https://www.grosfichiers.com/ZT9x4dZQvdU (lasts 15 days).
Maybe you could try to transfer the maps from the 2.0 (your broken file) to the game I provided? Maybe it's only bug corrections. You can extract the content of your corrupted file with 7-zip (not what was lost, but the rest).

Thank you Gari, this did the trick. You are right. 2.0 was missing essential folders like Sound, Picture and Title screen and the RPG_RT.exe ldb and database file - I guess 2.0 was a patch for the game.

For records sake, if you can figure out where you found the original Intial Fantasy let me know.
As always thank you for you help. It's tremendous :)

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it in the 2020 batch.
Hey, I'm looking for a game from my formative years. I checked the sites and the lists and I didn't see it. That doesn't mean it wasn't there, but I didn't see it. Unfortunately, I also do not remember the name. I wrote a description for r/tipofmytongue that I will be pasting here, so if there's any oddities in the post, blame it on the paste.

Here's what I remember:

-Turn-based, I believe the characters were on the sides like sprite Final Fantasy games

-The main character had short black hair that was long-ish in the front. He also wore all black with a bit of red and white in the palette. I believe the red was on his chest. Sprites were more like FFVI than Chrono Trigger or FF1. Characters had limbs but weren't very long. Shading on the sprites all around was great.

-Ages ago when I knew what the game was, I found a review of it on an RPGMaker dedicated site that called it a Chrono Trigger rip off (it was not Channel Changer). I don't remember if it was about time travel like Chrono Trigger, but I remember going through a portal (it was the Chrono Trigger portal sprite) and ending up in I BELIEVE a swamp

-I remember the title really got my attention and made me curious, and I'm almost positive it did not have Chrono/Dragon/Final Fantasy/etc in the title. It was not a parody or a fan game, but an attempt at original characters.

-I scrolled RPGMaker's site for 33 pages (Sorted oldest to newest) late last night and I could not find it. It doesn't mean it wasn't in those 33 pages, but I didn't see it

- I didn't patrol RPG maker sites back then so I believe this had some light press/forum notoriety. I may have seen it on a homebrew site for a Kingdom Hearts fan game at the same time (bonus points for this one: it sported an image of a Keyblade wielder who dual wielded two-sided Ultima Keyblades in a white coat. Not the topic here but I'd love to remember this too. Had a demo).

Thank you for any help with this!! I apologize for my vague memory of this game! But I'm eager to find it. It was very special to me at one point and left a huge impression on me at the time. I ended up exploring RPG Maker and gamedev at a very young age after seeing what one person could do, but fifteen~ anxiety filled years left me forgetting almost all of it. I never beat it, I want to go back to it and experience it as an adult. I just hope you can appreciate the challenge!

EDIT: It is not Aveyond
Hi DigitalAtlas,

I made a record of it under the request/wanted thread.

Just gonna take a guess here, from the descriptions you provided, would it be The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone by XxNemesis29xX?

More info and screenshots of the game can be found here.

Let us know if this is it...if not, let us know that too! - it's often really tricky finding these old rpgmaker games.

OH MY GOD YOU FOUND IT!!

Thank you!!!
So this is a bit of a long-shot, but does anyone happen to have Life: Mini Town for VXA? I think the creator's name is chigoo, but every download link I could find is dead. Hoping somebody has the zip somewhere lol.
quick question/update.

Did anyone get the latest notification from mediafire? it said something about "final fantasy" those games were recently taken down back in october as I reported here. But I went to check again after missing the notification and they're somehow available to download again?

Did anyone get the notification in full?
Maybe it depends of the game?
For example, Final Fantasy High is said to have been removed by Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/file/may3211tl9ej21n/Final_Fantasy_High_v2.0_(RM2k3)_(Yumblie).zip

Thanks Gari, I checked the list again just now. It seems the links from the masterlist, no longer work. So it means I can no longer share these files. But I can still download them from mediafire, which is good (I couldn't before).

I still wonder what the notification from last night was about.

EDIT: Nevermind, I was able to grab it just now while viewing TGA's list. It's just the same warning I got before about the games being removed:

Dear mediafire.com:

The Entertainment Software Association ("ESA") is a U.S. trade association that represents the intellectual property interests of companies that publish interactive games for video game consoles, personal computers, handheld devices and the Internet (hereinafter collectively referred to as "ESA members"). A list of ESA members can be found at http://www.theesa.com/about-esa/members/. Under penalty of perjury, we affirm that ESA is authorized to act on behalf of ESA members whose exclusive copyright rights we believe to have been infringed as described herein.

ESA is providing this notice to request that you immediately take action with respect to infringements that are occurring at the addresses identified on the attached list.

The material located on and/or being distributed from the URLs listed on the attached is infringing the copyright rights of one or more ESA members by copying and distributing unauthorized copies of game products, in violation of applicable copyright laws. The copyrighted works that have been infringed (hereinafter referred to as "Infringing Material") are identified on the attached list by their titles or variations thereof.

Because infringement of ESA member copyrighted works by and through your website appears to be significant and widespread, the attached list of titles is a "representative list" identifying a sample of the works infringed. The attached list is not by any means exhaustive of the ESA member works infringed by and through your website. As the law makes clear, a copyright claimant need not identify every infringing work on a site, but rather only a representative list of such works at that site. Having been so informed of the nature and scope of infringement being claimed, the site operator must act to address all infringement on that website, not merely the identified representative examples.

Given the infringing activity, the ESA urges you to cooperate with its efforts to protect the intellectual property rights of its members companies and immediately do the following:

1. Immediately take steps to remove or disable access to all of the Infringing Material.
2. Notify any user who may have participated in reproducing or distributing the Infringing Material that their conduct was illegal and could be subject to enforcement.
3. Avoid the same Infringing Material being reposted by the same or other users.
4. Take appropriate action against any responsible user, including termination of repeat offenders.
ESA has a good faith belief that the use of the Infringing Material in the manner described herein is not authorized by the copyright owners, their agents, or the law. The information in this notification is accurate. Under penalty of perjury, we hereby affirm that ESA is authorized to act on behalf of ESA members whose exclusive copyright rights we believe to have been infringed as described herein. By providing this notice, neither ESA nor its members are waiving any claims or remedies, or their right to engage in other enforcement activities, and all claims, rights and remedies are expressly reserved.

You or the account holders that posted any of the files at the URLs described above may contact ESA at the above-listed contact details, with email preferred. Please include the above-noted Reference Number in the subject line of all email correspondence.

Thank you for your cooperation and prompt response in this matter.

EDIT2: the games can still be accessed by simply turning the download into a link. But instead of risking termination I'm just gonna move the list to megaupload as I've been planning since October, since there's more space available (50GB). I think this was mostly spurned on by the recent release of Final Fantasy XIV Time and Again, sharing the same name as the rpgmaker fan game? But if we renamed them to something like "Final Fallacy" they should generally go unnoticed like they have been for years.
Howdy! I'm not really active on this site any more but I've been on the lookout for rare/obscure demos and prototypes for various RPG Maker games so that differences and insight on development can be properly documented.

Currently, demos I've been looking for are:

-Jay's Journey demo (Full game present on RMN.)

The only source for this demo I've seen was present on the developer's defunct geocities site (here), and apparently had gameplay till halfway through the game. The 2002 version of the game and the demo for Jay's Journey 2 can still be downloaded from the angelfire version of the website. (here.)

-Hero's Realm demo(s) (Full game present on RMN.) Fifth demo found!

Hero's Realm had 5 main demos before release, along with a few bugfixing builds, as detailed in this blog post.
The first four demos cover a chapter of the game, and an overhauled version of the first four chapters was present on a few websites for over a year, but the websites I checked on archive.org lead to dead links.

-Paradise Blue demo (Full game present on RMN.) (Found!)

A demo for Paradise Blue was present on a few websites, including RMN, nearly two years before release. Like the other games, archives lead to dead links. Download was named 'Paradise blue Midi version'.

If you happen to have any of these prototypes or know where to find them, please post them if you're able!
For Paradise Blue, you have an older file here : https://rpgmaker.net/content/games/251/downloads/ (2007). I'm unsure it's the midi version, but seeing how there is only one non midi song in the actual download...

Oh wow, I didn't even realize this was a searchable thing! I just took a look and it indeed has the Paradise Blue demo and the fifth Hero's Realm demo!

Thanks for your help :) And EDIT. Made a mistake. I have more of them then I thought already. Somehow my local filenames were wrong. I removed the ones I have.

Lets make it a bit worse. Data mining ftw. ;)

The next list is a bit longer (247 items) so I won't post it directly here, is a bit spammy xD

https://pastebin.com/GFJAs2zm

The list contains games still listed on rpgmaker.net that only have "external download links, that are dead". Also machine generated, probed with jDownloader, so will have some false-positives (but even if they are, you should download them ASAP, they are high risk to go offline!). I already prefiltered stuff like itch.io and gamejolt.
I found some of them

602 Iffermoon (Thanks god Web Archive also saves download links)
Iffermoon

Hi just a sidenote, I was trying to process this today and found the zip file for Iffermoon is corrupt - were you guys able to get this work? do you have a working download?
Hello, it's because you probably downloaded it from a wrong wayback file (I had the problem too).
I guess I solved the problem by downloading it from an earlier wayback link. The clean link is 252 792 MO. Often, it happens with later saves from the wayback that a part of the file isn't saved, corrupting the download.
Aldu's RPG Maker Archive
I've been around the RPG Maker community for a long time so I've accumulated a large collection of games from way back. This list only includes games I could not find on RMN. I didn't cross reference whether it's already in the archive or available online somewhere else.
I'll leave the zip files on my website indefinitely, but I recommend downloading it and backing it up as soon as possible.

Thanks again Aldu! downloading these immediately. Also wanna throw up some screens, there's some really good stuff here, some of these games haven't been seen in years, a lot of really interesting code too:

I remember Final Fantasy Fighters. That was seriously impressive. Even the sprites they made for Cloud looked very cool. Jump Platinum was mind-boggling, too. If anyone is interested in seeing feats or RM2K programming, check those out.
Hello!
I have created an account here just to post about this. Hopefully someone who's been in the RPG Maker scene for a long time can help solve this mystery. Basically, someone (not me) came across a YouTube playlist of 8 songs that someone else uploaded. Apparently they are from a game made in RPG Maker XP. The person then had a chat with the uploader in the comments and then made a Reddit thread about it. I discovered the thread and am trying to help find out what game these songs came from. Click here for the playlist.

The only descriptive details that the video uploader could give about the game was:
"The only character dynamic I remember was the game starting in your mother's house and you talked with her and she wished you luck like in pokemon. As well as a shopkeeper which gave me bad vibes as a kid. Halfway through the game it does a switch up and gets all messed up as well. Kind of like those crappy creepypasta games nowadays. That's all I really remember sadly. The PC me and my sister used was lost in a hurricane in 2008 so I haven't been able to play the game since."

I've written a lengthy forum thread on the Lost Media Wiki Forums that covers all the info about the unknown game so far: https://forums.lostmediawiki.com/thread/5808/unknown-rpgmaker-uploaded-eerie-soundtrack

Hopefully someone here will be able to recognize these tracks or the game itself.
Since my post on "The Eternals" apparently didn't get any hits so far, I think I'll go ahead and ask about the other one I'm trying to find.

There's another RPG Maker game im trying to find and this time I'm actually not sure if it was 2k or 2k3 (because it was gimmicky and didn't use any RPG battles). It was a zombie themed game with a top down perspective and used mostly MS Paint or pixel drawn assets very crudely. You were some dude with a chainsaw I think who ran into zombies with "collision" checking in order to kill them, and I think the writing was the worst I had ever seen. The MIDIs used were mostly those cheap MIDI covers of famous rock songs at the time like Green Day and Three Doors Down and all that stuff. Does this ring a bell to anyone?
