WHAT'S A DECENT LAPTOP FOR SIMPLE GAME-DEV AND PIXEL ART?

So, since summer's kicking, I thought it would be nice to get a laptop so that I can work on my game-dev stuff outside. I'll mostly be doing pixel art though, using PyxelEdit and possibly Aseprite. Other activities include RMing, coding in Atom and some light composing using MuseScore.

I'd like to keep the cost under $572 if possible. Got any tips?

Thanks in advance!
A have a few questions for you first. do u draw with a mouse? If u don't are u gonna wanna lug a waccum drawing tablet with you everywhere(or what ever yours is)? Do u want a laptop with a touch screen?is it 572 American or Canadian?
Yup, I draw with a mouse. I don't care much about touch screen. 572 USD (sorry). XD

For pixels, p. much anything is going to be fine. Game dev... assuming small-scale low fidelity and not polygon based stuff, you're probably fine with any old thing.

I'd recommend a touch screen with a stylus, myself; it's so much easier to do art with a stylus than with a mouse, even doing pixels.
I don't plan to do anything in 3D for a good while. It doesn't really interest me as much as 2D does. xD

I've never drawn pixels with a stylus before, and I don't think I'm going to use anything other than a mouse for pixel art ATM because of technique and muscle memory, but I might look into a different style in the future.

Thanks for the info, Sooz! : D

My two cents are to value construction over power. It's really pain to have a clunky laptop and with this budget it won't be 'need for speed' machine anyway.
FullHD display is quite a deal when doing graphics too. I find some 14 inches as an ideal compromise between dispaly's size and portability.
And yeah a poteto with a hardrive should be able to run aseprite and pyxel.

Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

Curiously i have a harder time doing pixel art with my tablet than i do with my regular mouse.

I just know that once I started using my Intuos for pixelling, it got SO MUCH FASTER.

Using a tablet is more ergonomic for the wrists, right? Thinking about it, isn't it a lot harder to hit individual pixels using a tablet? A lot of pixels tend to be pretty small. xD

It's possible that tablets work well for artists that have experience with drawing, though.

Zoom in for more precision. It's mostly not been a problem after getting used to it.

A lot of the speed in tablets is that, instead of moving the cursor all over, you just immediately hit whatever you need.

Of course this is all my own personal experience, so YMMV.
Ah, I see your point. Maybe I'll give tablets a shot sometime in the future.
I've seen a few laptops on Gearbest under a hundred dollars with specs fully capable of running graphics gale and rpg maker (i mean anything is fully capable of running graphics gale and rpg maker unless its MV)
Plus you can buy one of the chinese alternatives to wacom such as Huion, Yiynova, Ugee and Parblo. Reviews say they are pretty nice and not too inferior to wacom (whilst being only a fraction of the price)

I won't go this route though because basically import taxes for anything over 50 dollars in brazil = ~92% of the product price. at double the price i can buy a decent restored computer on Mercado Livre which will arrive in a week, as opposed to 2-3 months (since anything import has to stay for months in the Alfandega)

Also don't forget you can buy used or restored!

My used Intuos 3 was awesome until I was forced to go to Windows 10 (Wacom stopped supporting the drivers).

Also also if you're only doing pixels, you can go super cheap because the tablet doesn't need to be quality.
I have ASUS P Series P2540UA which is powered by Intel I5 4430 with 8GB RAM. I guess this spec would really fit on you since i do not have any problem on running photoshop. I just do not like the weight that feels so heavy to carry around and the display is not that good.
Thanks for the ideas, everyone! I'll try to come up with a decision this week.
