[RM2K3] RPG MAKER MANIACS PATCH (FOR OFFICIAL VERSION)

Posts

Might be a dumb question but does anyone know if the Maniac's Patch increases the limit of switches past 9999?
Will this work on the version on RPGMakerWeb? Its going for like 3 bucks now and this looks like a really awesome mod.

I don't think it does vbut I think it's compatible with patches that increase it past 9999. At the very minimum, I know it doesn't increase the PICTURE limit past (somewhere between 999 and 1500) by itself.

I think the RMW and Steam versions are the same, includingly i think you can just run the program directly from the steam install folder in the steam version and run it without going through Steam.

That's kind of what happens when you apply the patch, too. It duplicates the .exe, and the new .exe will NOT run through steam. (by default, I guess.) So you create a new shortcut.

3 bucks is a steal. It's definitely worth the purchase. Even at full price, it's cheap and very competitive to the other rpg makers.
That's very cool. I was a bit worried for a second.

Thanks!

Even newspapers have those nowadays.

Looks like BingShan is rewriting rpg_rt from scratch and he was also talking on his twitter about doing the same with the editor so we may not get a new version of the patch for a while (if at all).
I was wondering about that: Isn't reimplementing the RPG_RT basically what EasyRPG is doing, too? Why not bundle the efforts?

The TM is for Totally Magical.

So, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I've installed and loaded, used the utility, applied it to the engine, to the game I'm working on, I've restarted the computer, and nothing.

I've done nothing except add dlls that are, as far as I can tell, doing nothing. No new menu options. No changes to the variables, no ogg support.
Are you using the Maniac's Patch editor, or the default RPGmaker 2003 editor?

It's a different editor?

EDIT: I've gone into the folder, but I can't figure it out.
The utility application does the same thing.
I'm pretty sure en and jp are English and Japanese.
I went into the en folder.
One backs up. One opens an event command window, and the Patch application just errors out and crashes.

EDIT 2: I figured it out. It's in the folder with the steamapp 2k3
Cool, that is something new. Going to test it soon.

I was wondering the same and I doubt that BingShan will be able to achieve that work which took EasyRPG many man-years any time soon.
Has there been any progress since his previous upload at all? I have noticed a lot of screenshots and tweets on his page but I don't understand a word unfortunately and the same goes for his Discord, though the Discord seems to be the most active place right now for anything to do with this.

As far as I can tell, there seems to be a 16/9 Screen Resolution being worked on and extended text box sizes to fit more in them, though if there is any new release that has gone past my mind, please feel free to tell.
They must've had their reasons to decide to do it like that, after all much of RPG Maker is made of peronal challenges, isn't it? I agree that working together with the (awesome) easyRPG woulda been much cooler tho... for us

I'm just a tad bummed out because there's ONE tiny unfixed bug on Maniacs that reeeally prevents a lot of stuff battle-system wise, which is the fact that the "variable = enemy id" command is bugged and will fetch the enemy's formation id instead of their database id (there's another separate command for getting their formation id and BingShan has confirmed this is a bug)

But I'm looking forward to whatever they, or the easyRPG team for that matter, end up doing. They're all doing sick cool awesome stuff.
I never really tested the patch for myself, but if you can prepare a game for me that demonstrates this bug and I just need to do a few simple steps to reproduce it, I'll try to patch the patch for you and fix the bug.
The team of easyrpg actually started to work more with Easy Rpg Editor,
gui options, etc
and I heard about the feature of use plugins (To-do later).
Are there any sample projects or projects at all??
Would be great to check some stuff made with maniac patch to get a hang of the usage of some features :/?
I recommend these:

THUNDER DRACO & THUNDER WINDY
Two awesome horizontal scrolling arcade shooters. After GameOver or last stage, you can watch (and save) a full replay.

★ WINDY: https://viprpg2020kohaku.xxxxxxxx.jp/entry16.html

s2k3mp destroyer
Obstacle course platforming game, 10~20mins full of action and up to 50 AI-controlled buddies, run again after first playthrough and you get a benchmarking-program with up to 5000 chickens to spawn and fight on a rotateable map and a second playmode for the main game featuring time rewind and three more characters with different controls than Zack.

Doradora Island Saga
Somebody achieved to build an entire real-time strategy game like "Age of Empires" with 2003MP. Don't know what kind of witchcraft that is, but it works.

Kaogura Painter
A drawing tool for FaceSet graphics with 5 layers and stuff completely made in 2003MP, released just about a week ago. Can save the image as "Save01.lsd" (size: around 9MB!) and as full-color PNG image ("kg.png").

A new version has been released!

Some info about the various features of the patch(use a translator the site is only japanese):

latest version(before using the patch make a backup of the rpgmaker folder):

Put this in the main tool folder after apply the patch(It has to do with one of the new commands entered including string variables):

Ooooooh this is amazing. The TPC thing seems to be a conversion/compilation tool to convert event commands and possibly other things (given that there are LDB/LMU/LMT definitions) to/from text in a scripting language kind of way.
For some reason none of the new events show up for me, after I apply the patch. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm dumb, but everything's working now.
