With any luck, hoping it'll pull me out of dead last. ;-;

Fun fact: Cap_H, Addit, oddRABBIT, AtiyatheSeeker, and I also listed The Lion King as number 1. I wonder what that will do for the standings?

It will be a knife fight in a phone booth. We all did the same mistake of putting Pikachu high on our lists. I didn't expect John Wick to be this successful.
You and Addit might score extra for the placement. But the most important release for all of us is the new Tarantino. If it's successful, I'm grabbing point. If It's not, Rocketman might help you to outscore me.

Edit: But Kentona's almost unbeatable at this point.

Did you want to award me the prize now, or should we play out the string?
Godsdammit Lion King. You weren't supposed to do this well.

EDIT: Current scores when The Lion King is #4 after THREE DAYS in theaters.

Shinan: 61 points (+15)
Addit: 51 points (+11)
Cap_H: 49 points (+16)
kentona: 48 points (+18)
pianotm: 37 points (-2)
oddRABBIT: 37 points (+1)
kory_toombs: 30 points (-2)
AtiyaTheSeeker: 28 points (+4)

EDIT2: Pretend points if Lion King was #1 and nothing else changed:
kentona: 60 points
Cap_H: 60 points
Addit: 55 points
Shinan: 54 points
pianotm: 50 points
oddRABBIT: 49 points
AtiyaTheSeeker: 37 points
kory_toombs: 34 points
Surely, Lion King was the most expected film of this summer. 25 years after the cartoon. Anyway, it is not bad. But I expected more, honestly.

August is here. We're in the endgame now and Lion King is going to be our champion.

I think pretty much the top 5 is set by now. But down in the lower rankings Fast&Furious Presents: Hobbs&Shaw can still make a slight impact. But let's look at them scores.

1. Cap_H: 69 points (+20)
2. kentona: 66 points (+18)
3. Addit: 52 points (+1)
3. Shinan: 52 points (-9)
5. oddRABBIT: 50 points (+13)
6. pianotm: 42 points (+5)
7. AtiyaTheSeeker 39 points (+11)
8. kory_toombs: 33 points (+3)

Currently Cap_H has managed to predict #1 AND #10 and they are worth 13 points each. And it's entirely possible those are the final 1s and 10s. Because Once Upon a Time in America will probably beat Rocketman (current #9) and Hobbs & Shaw will probably beat out both of those (making Once Upon a Time #10)

The battle for top spot just got quite intense. Cap has H&S at 7th and kentona has it at 6th, the placement of that movie is probably going to decide the whole thing!
Noooo! All my bragging is my undoing!

This is the moment of my triumph.
Now, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is doing little too good and it might manage to beat Godzilla too. Its second weekend is way better than Godzilla's which dropped like 70%.
Oh yeah I'm looking at Godzilla's progression now and it'll be tight! Mostly it's about whether or not Once Upon a Time will bead Godzilla before the end of the wager. (Because it will definitely beat Godzilla by the end of the year). It's a race against the clock.
Well Once Upon a Time has beaten Godzilla. And with only a couple of weeks left of the wager we're in the final stretch now!

And here are current scores:
1. kentona: 71 points (+5)
2. Cap_H: 65 points (-4)
3. oddRABBIT: 56 points (+6)
4. AtiyaTheSeeker: 52 points (+13)
5. pianotm: 50 points (+8)
5. Shinan: 50 points (-2)
7. Addit: 47 points (-5)
8. kory_toombs: 40 points (+7)

A lot of people had Godzilla 2 at #10 which meant a bunch of 13 points.

I think the only change to the top 10 before deadline is going to be Hobbs&Shaw moving one spot up, moving Detective Pikachu down one spot. Doing a quick calculation that would still mean kentona is the champion.

Basically it seems kentona is our champion. Once again!

It was never in doubt!I only ever doubted it once (briefly)!

Congrats, Kentona!

That one million made the battle for the second place rather tight!
I haven't seen a single one of these movies. I'm not really interested in any of them.
oddRABBIT
I feel bored. How odd.

Oh, how did I get third? Somehow, my guesses always seem lucky.

But yeah, I haven't seen any movies in like seven months.

For anyone curious, here was my estimates:

1. The Lion King ($450m)
2. Toy Story 4 ($430m)
3. Spider-Man: Far From Home ($303m)
4. The Secret Life of Pets 2 ($255m)*
5. Aladdin ($290m)*
6. F&F: Hobbs & Shaw ($180m)
7. Detective Pikachu ($160m)
8. Yesterday ($155m) (PS. it is at $73m)
9. Godzilla: King of the Monsters ($150m)
10. John Wick 3 ($130m)

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ($122m)
Dark Phoenix ($121m) (PS. it was $65m)
Dora and the Lost City of Gold ($117m) (PS. it is currently 54m)

*Notice how I screwed up my rankings here with Aladdin and Secret Life 2.
God damn it. I started off so strong in the beginning but I underestimated how good The Secret Life Of Pets 2 did and having X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Men In Black: International stinking up the joint really didn’t do me any favors either. But, you know what? Sixth place isn’t so bad, it could be worse.

And, yeah, the only movie from the Top 10 list that I saw over the summer (well…besides Avengers: End Game) was John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum - which, yeah, was pretty good, I love the fight scenes and all that – but I still prefer the original John Wick over the first two.

- And Kentona really did have this all this bag, didn’t he? I thought the man was crazy with some of his selections and placements, but it turns out that he had us all played for chumps right from the beginning. Good job.
thanks. I am looking forward to winning it next year.
