In an attempt to be sassy, I wanted to throw a link to the rules in a reply to this topic. But I ran into a problem: I can't really find them in the usual places one would expect the rules to live! Not even searching for "rules" in the custom search helped! I eventually found them in the eensy weensy text at the bottom that nobody ever looks at because 90% of the time it's worthless info.

There's no link to the rules in the Community menu. There's no list of rules in the "New to RMN" article. There's not even a stickied post in the main forum. I can read a post about rules for submitting games from 2014, but I can't easily find the rules for using the forum.

So, I suggest adding a link to the rules in the Community menu and a sticky post in the forum. These are the places most people are likely to think to check. It'll make it easier on newbies, AND give the added bonus that maybe there'll be fewer bannes needed for dumb shit!

About the user you replied to in Introductions, after checking that advertised profile page- it could be a self-aware spambot

The post referred to was questionable at best, and I pointed out the profile page to the other staff. The user has since been banned on suspicion of being a bot.

This isn't to say that Sooz doesn't have a point about being able to find the site's rules in a more convenient location than on the bottom of the page. The Community tab makes the most sense to me.

As an observation, I swear a link for status history ("Latest Statuses") was under "Latest Posts" under the Community tab at one point. That might have been when people were posting those more often, and was removed after activity tapered off? The link still exists on the bottom of the page, and the most recent statuses are on the Community page, so, maybe this is a moot observation.
If Community tab is suitable location for Rules, where should Rules link be placed within subcategory?

Forums | Post History | Chat | New to RMN?

To be specific, are we talking about "Code of Conduct" or "Submission Rules" from Policies? (bottom)

There's enough room. It's frankly a good idea to make it it's own heading.
And Sooz, I was just teasing since I've always found the rules at the bottom of any site since the 90s. I guess that's just me, though.

I mean, I guess we could have a "Polices" header to replace the "Store" header, since most of the items in said store lead to broken links anyway!
;_;

Slightly more serious post: The link could be between "Chat" and "New to RMN"?

For what little it's worth, there is a link to the submission rules in the "New to RMN?" article. It's under a hide-tag under the "Frequently Asked Questions" section where people would be even less likely to look.
wait, we have new users?

Listen, spambots should know the rules they're breaking, too!

Wait! Is there an official rule against being a bot?
RMN has been banning bots left and right, but there's no rule to actually govern that.
