OoT is amazing... as a broken game that people bend and break in new and exciting ways.

I recently finished Link to the Past, and now I'm playing Ocarina of Time because my friend wouldn't stop moaning about how I've never finished it.

I fucking hate this game. I cannot imagine what sick fantasies are in people's heads when they call it "the best Zelda" or even "one of the best games ever". I'm about blow my head off with a shotgun over this diarrhea.

Also, fuck the dumbass that invented Dark Link. Fuck him to hell.

I like OoT, but I think its popularity is way overblown. I didn't like running around a completely barren overworld, especially when the past Zelda games I've played is chock full of enemies and stuff to slash at... But I guess it was less infuriating compared to Majora's Mask, so I got invested in it at one point.

And indeed, just about every appearance of Shadow Link other than Link Between Worlds is cancerous.

I think I like the game okay too, now that I've finished my 100% no death run of it (because that will shut my friend the fuck up about never beating it), although I'm still wondering if that may have been a form of Stockholm Syndrome cropping up. The last three dungeons (Shadow Temple, Spirit Temple and Ganon's Tower) are actually really, really good Zelda dungeons. It's a shame the rest of the dungeons are total dump in comparison.

There are just so many weird choices being made all over the place in Ocarina, it forces me to not enjoy the game.

The beginning suffers from abysmal pacing- you do one dungeon, listen to exposition, talk to the owl, then walk across Hyrule Field into the castle garden, talk to the owl, walk that course 3 times, do a stealth segment, listen to more exposition, go back to the forest and get Saria's song, talk to the owl, most likely get the Suns Song and Epona's Song while you're at it, then climb Death Mountain and get the Goron Bracelet. Like, FUCK. It takes about two bloody hours to get from the first dungeon to the fucking second dungeon. I could beat the first 4 dungeons in LttP in that time period. It would be great if that time was spent doing exciting or interesting things, but its mostly spent doing cross country.

The Epona thing is shoehorned in to have a new feature. You need Epona for literally one thing in the entire game if you aren't going for 100% completion, which is something I can't really get behind. You have to spend what, 70 Rupees on every attempt to get Epona? If you haven't been collecting Skulltulas that's basically your entire wallet. If you fail (like I did) you're boned and have to waste even more time to get Rupees agian. They played it way better in TP, where having Epona is, well, mandatory and actually very helpful in traversing the huge overworld.

The Gerudo's Foretress sucks too, while I'm at it. Not only is there another bloody stealth segment in this Zelda game, but you have to search a damn maze for carpenters at the same time, and fight those annoying sword chicks with the brilliant move that sends you back to jail. What a stupid idea for an attack. "Oops, have some inconvenience!" The Gerudo Training ground was a good idea though, and sadly it's one of the better dungeons in the game, even if it is entirely optional and you literally never use the reward for anything ever.

All that being said, I'm the glad the game had such a big influence on other Zelda titles, because without it we wouldn't have had gold like WindWaker or Twilight Princess. It did a lot for the Zelda worldbuilding, like civilizing Zoras and introducing the Gerudo and Goron species, as well as characters like Ganondorf (for appearance/design anyways) and Impa.
The graphics appear alot better on the 3DS.
But the original game captivated me the most and
sparked my interested in making rpgs.

The only game where you have a tanky hitpoints and the status god, destroys in-game plotted large boulder...but couldn't deal with small ones.

Also, the only guy who makes grinding and story painful with his narration and lonely fights.
Stilll, white hair tho.

Exciting, but ultimately pointless.

I am playing:

(The new one, Mortal Kombat X.)

GOOD FUN! First impressions are super positive. Best game ever churned out by Boon's team.
Currently jizzing my pants while playing Silent Bomber. What Guilty Gear is to Street Fighter, this game is to Bomberman. I'd describe it more, but really, this video shows you everything you need to know. Best $30 I ever spent.

Gradius V came out on PSN a few days ago, so I've been playing that some, too. Can't say a whole lot about it yet except that it looks good but kicks my ass and makes me salty.

Wild Arms was on sale for about $0.90 some time ago, so I got that and have logged about 10 hours into it by now. Like most other JRPGs I've played, it's got a fantastic intro FMV, great music, good graphics (the 2D graphics anyways. The 3D battle scenes are pretty lulzy by today's standards), a few fun characters and a decent translation, and horribly repetitive, braindead battles.

The mage character takes quite a few level-ups before she really gets enough MP to spare more than once every 18 battles or so, but even then, I mostly just defend with her and let the other two guys hack things to death.
The Force mechanic is more interesting than the standard Limit Break system since it also does other things like increase your defense or cure status ailments depending on how much you build it up. However, each character only has one ability that uses Force for quite a while, and the second ability (a summon) is really only useful if your summon is an enemy's weakness. The mage's Mystic ability (get better use out of items or cast spells using equipment) is pretty cool, though. Unfortunately, only boss fights really last long enough to make much use of Force. It seems like 90% of all regular enemies die in one attack.

Multi-target attacks are really weird in this game, because rather than going by rows (like EarthBound and I assume Dragon Quest) or the FF style of NUKE EVERYONE, enemies of the same kind that are standing next to each other are considered a "group" that can be all attacked at once. Sometimes. Thing is, there are a number of troops where you'll see enemies of the same kind standing next to each other... but all considered individual "groups" of one (or a group of two standing next to a group of one, and other such silliness), rendering multi-target spells useless because RAISINS.

that's actually exactly how dragon quest works. =) it has single, group, and all attacks! normally the groups aren't that screwy though.
Man, I remember Silent Bomber. I used to have it before all my goddamn games got stolen in college. That game was pretty sweet.

Wild Arms does have good dungeon puzzles. That series probably has the best I've seen outside of Lufia 2.
...I love the original Wild ARMs. There's just something about it that is so great. And the fact that you can change your magic spells at any time just by unbinding and rebinding them to charts... it's a great system. A little broken in ways, but great non-the-less.

They did a poor job with grouping in DQIX I thought, rendering group spells and weapons (whips!) rather useless in comparison to their powerful single-target counterparts, or attack-everyone counterparts.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I am playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper. It's a cell phone game by Square Enix. A friend was talking about "collecting sets of FF4 equipment to form synergies" and holy shit that was all I needed to hear. No other information required. Sold.

Finally somebody compared it to the bravest... It was a trainwreck.

But damn i can't install it for some reason.

I should sue them on behalf of my MUD! How dare they use their ideas in the same way I used their ideas.
After playing it for a while... is it just me or are the amount of loading screens super obnoxious. >.<; Ugh.
