Ark had been not much help to the group of survivors, only saying that he is a killer and that everyone should vote for him. Everyone at first thought he was crazy, but the vote leaned in favor of lynching him anyway, so Ark was hanged. It wasn't one of the predators that was killed, though. The Survivors had killed one of their own. Night had come and everyone just solemnly went to sleep, hoping that they wouldn't be tonight's prey.

You all wake up to a surprisingly beautiful day on the island. As you gather around the voting area and do a headcount, everyone takes a big sigh of relief when all are accounted for. But, the voting continues, since there's no doubt that the predators are still on the loose.
No one has died tonight!
It is now Day 3!
With 7 alive it takes 4 to lynch. Day 3 will end about 48 hours from this post if no majority is reached.

That was very, very strange. Why in hell would he want to be killed off? If he'd wanted to quit the game then he could have just suicided. Or opted to let someone else join in his place.
The only thing I can think of is that he was trying to see how far he could get by making that kind of claim (I'm Mafia, kill me) for some perverse reason. Very odd.
It's also strange that no-one was killed during the night phase. Why didn't the mafia move?

The most logical assumption is that there's a town doctor and/or roleblocker that acted right last night.
My guess is that both the mafia and the doctor targeted Zim, since he's the only comfirmed role around here. (With a pretty powerful role, at that!)

That's true. Though, are all double-voters only townies or can there be Mafia ones? If so... that'd be bad.

Well that's probably what saved him.
Ok yea, Ark killing himself was strange. Aside from the possibility of him just messing around, I can't shake the feeling that someone else was involved (through the power of their role, perhaps). But at the same time, he was acting like that since the first day, before someone could use their powers on him (are there powers that can be used during the day?).
I agree with Choas that there is likely a doctor amongst us, as well as a few other staple roles (someone more experienced give us an idea what those could be), and perhaps I was saved by one.
Now for my defense:
I didn't try to hide my role at that point it was either me or TMT. I could have somehow tried to make it seem like that power was his, but then he might have been the target. Leaving it like that would at least work in my favor, giving me the credibility. If TMT is mafia, I would have been the target either way, so once again it was better to leave things as they were.
As for why the mafia wouldn't have this power, its simple. They operate at night, so they would need more useful powers then just double votes (the day phase is controlled by the townies, IMO). A double vote would barely make a dent in larger games (which I assume are the norm), whereas roles like Silencer would be much more effective. Given that the mafia count this time around is about 2, they don't have people to spare for such trivial roles.

I don't think Ark was being controlled, thats too bizarre a role. But after last night we now know 3 roles(kinda).

I'm pretty sure the mafia picks one person to perform the nightkill, and if that person is roleblocked, the kill doesn't happen. I managed to stop a nightkill last game like that.
Also I REALLY wonder what the fuck Ark was doing. I was sure he was mafia, or at least village idiot.
