Yeah now I'm getting tired of RTP music. So I wanna make my own, or a remix of the present tracks in the RTP. what programs are good?

Anvil Studio. If you're competent with music, post it on here!
Even if you're not, post it anyway.
if you want NES style music without all the hassle of getting a tracker and finding samples for it, look at Famitracker.
I'm trying Anvil Studio atm. Jazzware also looks nice so I'll give it a try later. I still haven't looked at Famitracker yet. Thanks for the suggestions!
EDIT:
Here's what i've done so far. a remix of "Battle 1" of the RM2k3 RTP.

I wasn't aware that just changing the instrument sounds counted as a remix.

Musagi can get you some nice NES/chiptune styled sounds and has a pretty neat little interface too. It's still in development though and not yet as feature-rich as some of the programs posted above but it's simple, very conducive to playing around in, and worth keeping an eye on.

I know I know, it just seems like a cheap excuse for one is all.

Oh, hmm okay. I'll attempt on making the song on its relative minor scale. I wonder how it would sound like.
