Bluesilences: some criticisms. (relax i'm not meaning to bash you just trying to be constructive.) The shading of your pixels needs a lot of work--right now you are mostly using pillow shading, which you should never do. Read this: http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/shading.html
The blood next to the man and "box" is incredibly pillow shaded--so are the man and the box. Pillow shading creates a weird, plastic looking effect. I recommend you to go back through this topic and study some examples of pixel art and the shading they use. Don't worry if you can't get it right away:

Actually, by definition, Pixel Art is high resolution art made with pixels (by high resolution I mean 100x100 lol, depends on the REAL resolution), and Sprite is the shrunk, for character or BG purposes, version of it. Generally sprites are tile based, and Pixel Art is not. Well, It's kinda hard to explain, but yes, it is pixel art.
