Exciting, but ultimately pointless.

I never could understand why those dogs were called Ralphs.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Even so, a bear is a lot larger than a person. A fully grown Yukon grizzly (the smallest species of brown bear) weighs a minimum of 350 pounds, while a typical one is around 800 pounds and a coastal brown bear can grow up to 1500 pounds.

That one seems to be too cute, right? The thing is, I want to avoid the "HUGE monster, tiny character" trope that is so popular, like here:

I'd be fucking terrified if a bulldog that size showed up on my front porch, is what I'm saying.

Actually none of the enemy battlers in FF6 can be compared in size to the character sprites or even to each other, but I understand your aesthetic choice.

That face portrait is awful, he looks constipated and angry and old and animu-eyed and whaaaat.
He is all of the above, but I hear his bowel movements are quite fine, thank you very much. And don't overlook THAT.
I think you should add a little bit more detail like bushes or flowers to the grass, Craze. Interesting game title though ^^ I wonder what the bag in the upper left corner contains

"My merits must not be overlooked" is a really strange thing for a person to say about themselves. O.o
In what way, Max?

What I'm trying to say is that he has a certain rank, and the ranger should respect him for that, not overlook it. You see, English is not my first language, and even though I'm fluent, since I don't live in an English speaking country, some of the ways people would say something are lost in... translation, I guess.

Also, this guy Hedros is an egotistic dick.

What would you recommend?

Well if English isn't your first language, you're doing a great job, Large.

I was just pointing out that it's not the kind of thing someone would just flat-out say, and that it could probably be communicated more indirectly, through subtext. But games and subtext don't always get along, so yeah.

I know the story is not very good, so skip to around 1:20 for the action.

@TDS : interesting battling, I like it, maybe the characters's moves could a little less stiff, less systematic?
Do you mean the skills stopping the battle?

That reminds me of the fights in Ice Hockey on NES - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Ruo6lchKCEk#t=204s

What control does the player have? o.O
That seemed very... cinematic. No control from the player in that battle, right? I mean, it seemed a plot driven battle you're meant to lose. In a regular, random encounter... thing will flow less... hasty, right?
Yep, that battle was meant to be lost. Normally battles are not that fast but they are normally very short.

As for control, yes there are plenty of controls available to the player, just that none were used in that video.

You can press X to open the menu which allows you to choose items to use or view character stats or set the actions AI or manually set an action.

You can Press CTRL to escape, and Enter to use "Rush mode" which basically speeds things up and improves certain stats.

Other than that battles are completely automatic with the characters and opponents moving towards each other.

No, the way they move towards and away from each other, it could maybe be a little faster, with a "second"'s halt between the hits and a little more irregular (easy to say!).
That's interesting from a programming point of view, I guess, but personally, I like to control the actions of my player.
