CloseI heard america has this Internet Blacklist Legislation to the point even mozilla put in their front page about going against it. They said Your favorite websites both inside and outside the US could be blocked based on an infringement claim and stuff like that.
So does that mean TPB would be blocked in the USA? A talk in the IRC:

Personally I'm not to worried. This kind of stuff has been going on for years and if never goes anywhere.
These bills never pass, and this one won't either.

Also, the fact that bills like this get tabled is enough. That "they never pass" isn't a very good excuse not to raise awareness (and fight it, if possible)
Well even if it does come to pass, I hope it doesn't affect the UK. I live there after all... Signed the petition incase.

It's not going to affect just the USA but the whole world too and if you see the sites, there are senates that are really supporting it!
Also, when it comes to content laws and the internet, the USA is basically the trendsetter for the world, so if the USA does it, places like Europe, Canada, Australia, etc... will probably follow suit.

There's just so much blockage of internet that is done because of "child porn" and "piracy". I think these things are really daft. And these decisions are made by people who just have no clue what they are talking about. And then the godsdamn entertainment industry that just can't live with the fact that their outdated business model is outdated.

And once again, corporations want to attempt to control what we can and can't do. I wish they'd just give up. -_-

American citizens need to do what they can to stop and reverse where the batshit insane people in charge are leading their country and everybody else needs to try and keep it from spreading into their countries.
Fuck it hasn't even been half a year since the last Canadian election and now we can't do shit about what's going on except hope the current checks work. Harper already wants to change our IP laws to reflect more of the US's and I don't think there's anything that can stop him now.

I was kinda surprised that Firefox was involved but I guess it means this really is seroius. I get the impression that Mozilla's staff are fairly level-headed and not the type to blow things out of proportion easily. *Watches video*

It's not just Mozilla, all the big internet companies including Google are involved in it. It's a really big issue
