ANY LIBERTARIANS HERE?

Posts

Yeah? lol... just wondering, after reading some of those political-based threads here and noticing that some of you are pro-constitution / pro-liberty... just wondering how many of you are here? cause I'm into that stuff myself. :)

If you're not, are you an anarchist? a classical liberal? what's your stance on politics? do you even give a shit at all? XD then speak up!

Ron Paul 2012!
i dont IDENTIFY as libertarian but my morals and philosophies tend to be in line with libertarianism so you can count me i suppose if you're looking to take a tally or whatever

be warned though that politics is a risky subject!!!

Libertarian since about 2004, full anarchist since about 2009 (I think).

Be warned libertarians get MORE radical as they get older.

I have no idea what defines libertarians and don't know nor care whether I would be one, but I'm all for upholding and abiding by the ruling law of the land and believing in the founding principles of the country (USA) I was born and currently living in.
I don't actually know what a libertarian stands for. (*checks wikipedia*) Ah some kind of personal freedom thing, somewhat independent from the state.

Yeah I'm not a libertarian. I'm a socialist myself and it seems I'm becoming more and more socialist all the time. (Everything can be fixed if you just tax it more! :)

Interesting, to hear that from you haha... I assumed you would be the anarchist type.

Lol I'm cool with Liberals, or any other viewpoint. As far as liberal views go like, I watch some tv commentary shows that are based on those views, sometimes.

Then you are somewhat of a libertarian, since they are up for those things you stand for.

I actually...don't have political views that can be easily classified.

*puts on coolshades*

No but like, seriously, yeah, I don't. Neither Democrats nor Republicans would want me.

I understand the Tea Party call themselves Libertarians, but are really like Republicans, only more ignorant. Does this piss off actual Libertarians?

The Tea Party was a movement kinda like OWS in the sense that it was a movement that started out of anger against the system... they started fine, but they got co-opted by the Koch Brothers or whatever, and the movement went to shit basically, and now they don't like Ron Paul (Bastards!). So yeah, libertarians won't be pissed if you bash them, you're safe for now at least. :D

And well, OWS is based on anger too, but unlike the Tea Party, they refuse to be co-opted by anyone, they also want to remain leaderless.

As much as labels suck, I suppose you could most closely associate me with Libertarianism.

The current poster boy for Libertarianism is Ron Paul. I wish RP wasn't so apologetic for America's actions in the world. If we could combine RP's understanding of this mystical concept called a "balanced budget" with a strong leadership figure who puts value in the stabilizing effect of American hegemony (a la most recent US presidents other than Carter and Obama) that person would become our next president and we'd have peace on Earth.
rise to the challenge, harm!

on RMN, I am a fascist dictator. In real life I am an efficiencyist. :D Whatever is more efficient. Sometimes it is capitalism, sometimes socialism. I think that government regulation is very important in maintaining balance (in both the economy and society). I am a social liberal and fiscal conservative. (Sorry Max)
I'm of the belief that if Libertarians got into power, they would soon realise that they're biting off more than they can chew.

Sure, Individual Freedom and Personal Liberty and the other catchphrases sound nice, but anarchism is just an unofficial definition for "power vacuum followed by new government instituted by the financially powerful". Libertarians always want to blame and dismantle the government, but it's governments bound by recognized documents like the Magna Carta and national constitutions that got us out of Feudalism. As unguarded sheep, all standing alone once again, guess where we'd be heading.

Me? I'm a D&D Druid. It's all about maintaining balance.

"i dont "label myself as a libertarian nor belong to any particular libertarian movement" but my morals and philosophies tend to be in line with libertarianism so you can count me.

Edit : I'm not sure libertaire, in France, is an (exact?) equivalent for libertarian, in the USA.
Libertarians are insane! ...Well, I imagine Libertarianism is a legitimate political stance for some people somewhere. But me not being American, I'm mainly exposed to the loudest, nuttiest kind that populate the interwebs. You know, the kind that like to go on long, angry rants about how greed and selfishness are so rad, about how the free market is so awesome, and about how the state is the enemy and everything done to hurt it is fair game, including crashing planes at tax offices... Now, I know every political stance has its radicals, but imo 'Libertarians' are the scariest of the bunch. They take themselves far too seriously. =/

"about how the free market is so awesome, and about how the state is the enemy and everything" : this, for example, does not correspond at all to the French libertarian view on politics, at least those on the political left,, who are the heirs of Bakunin.

Upon noticing this topic, I just remembered that I should start understanding what the heck is politics about, otherwise everyone will think I'm a dumbass (if I'm not one already) I don't know anything about it. It's clear that I am a fascist though.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

As much as I like arguing, I hate arguing about formal politics.

In the online game I help run, I always make sure all religious and political debates get immediately ordered to move to the "yiff" chat channel that the furries started. It kills two birds with one stone.

Also, I'm a world dominationist.
I think the term in France and most of Europe is Ultra-Liberal.

Actually there's a hell of a lot of terms for Libertarian and we all constantly fight over which one to use.

Basically the key point is that the State is at best a 'necessary evil'. Then you slowly realize that Evil isn't necessary at all.

It's a very odd intellectual journey and every person takes a different path.
Also I really hate talking politics but if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

Thank you. Now I don't have to post anything other than to confirm that I'm this.
