When Haru was 5 years old, she woke up in the middle of the woods. Without any previous memories, all alone. The only things she remembers are her first name and a song - a lullaby that's stuck in her head.

One night, 10 years later, she awakens to the sound of the familiar song being sung and follows it, into the town near the orphanage she lives in. But when she gets there, the town is... changed. Not like Haru remembers.

And when she tries to leave, she can't.

The main objective of this game is to get back to the orphanage and try to get Haru's memories back along the way.

You are born a blank canvas. Ready to be painted - and tainted. After all, memories make you who you are. You are born without opinions, fears, aspirations and dreams. Only living life, making memories forms you, molds you.
But... what if, one day... you lost them?
... Who are you then?

- About the game -

Lullaby is a mystery/horror game.
Gameplay will primarily involve solving puzzles and has an emphasis on exploration.

It features:

► 1 hour - 1 ½ hours of gameplay
► Custom Art
► Custom Character Sprites
► Some Original Music Pieces

- Some Notes -

Lullaby is my very first try at making a horror game (Or, well, any game at all), using RPG Maker VX Ace.
I am a huge fan of many other RPG-Maker horror games - and I am determined to make a decent good one myself.

If you like my game(s), I would appreciate it a lot if you considered buying me coffee or buying the game on itch.io.

100+ Downloads on RMN! & I'm taking a small break

Hello everyone!

I can't believe it, Lullaby reached 100+ downloads here on rmn!
Thank you so so much for playing my game... I am honestly kind of speechless. It legit means the world to me!
To be honest, I never would have thought that so many people would download (and hopefully play!) my game.
It's a little hard to wrap my head around.

While Lulaby still is very much my baby and passion project, I have realized I have a lot to learn about game making still (which is to be expected, since this is my first attempt at making a game).
Everyone's feedback has been really helpful, and though it is still a little nerve-wracking, I appreciate your constructive criticism a lot.

I already know that I am going to be able to use a lot of the feedback given to me for any future projects!

Also, as far as I can tell, Lullaby is pretty well received(?) over on itch.io.

There, I have reached almost 80 downloads - which is amazing! - and there has been a lot of helpful feedback too.
(I even received two ratings, one of which came with a written review that made me tear up - in a positive way.)

I noticed that a lot of people (from what I've seen on itch.io at least) seem to have trouble with the font used in the game. So I decided to add in a little README text file and also put more details into the instructions that are shown before the intro, to avoid any confusion.
Hopfefully that will help.

I honestly can't thank you enough for all of your help and support!
I know I keep repeating myself, but it is true.

With that being said, I think I should take a step back and take a small break from the internet, at least when it concerns Lullaby.

Lullaby is a project that is deeply personal to me.
I always thought the best way for me to deal with past experiences is to channel them into creativity - which I did with my game.
So it makes me especially happy that Lullaby's story seems to resonate with a lot of people!

But I am noticing that I am starting to obsess over it.

I'm checking youtube, twitter, rmn and itch.io multiple times a day (which to some degree is probably normal when you publish a game) and it's always on my mind in some way, even if I am doing something unrelated.
I don't want it to get to the point of it affecting my mental health negatively, so I think I just need a little bit of distance for now.

It's not that big of a deal, but I just wanted to let you all know in case I miss something or don't answer messages.

And that's pretty much all I wanted to say.

Thanks for reading and as always, I hope you'll have an amaying day. Take care of yourselves.

Seriouspost "the Groovy Lullaby" is a kickass title.

Edit: What a terrible first post for a new page.
Damnit, now I need to start a new project just so we can use the title "The Groovy Lullaby".
xD And to think, I pitched that just cuz I love Evil Dead lmao

For real tho...Groovy Lullaby could be a period based horror game :P
The game looks interesting, looking forward for when a download becomes available.

The download should be up soon! I posted an update on a blog post a few days ago if you want to know more :)

Thanks for the support, I hope you'll like the game once it is released ;;;
I just played your game and I like the art and the air of mystery. However, there is some text that gets cut off and the buildings seems too big compared to the sprites.

One suggestion I could make to the game’s progression is to make the buildings that don’t have anything to do with the current objective inaccessible to help streamline exploration. I got as far as getting the keys for the car in the bar. After giving the keys to him the game softlocks as he sits in mid-air when he probably was supposed to leave the bar.

I'll keep the size of houses in mind for my next game. To be completely honest, I am not very experienced with mapping, so this is really helpful. I will do better next time!
Did you install the font "Asparagus Sprouts" in the folder Fonts2? If not, that might be the cause of the cut-off text.

I completely understand where you are coming from, but the whole point of it was for the exploration to not be linear. There was supposed to be a tiny sense of being lost and confused (although hopfefully not to the point of frustration) cause that is how Haru feels in this situation.
Also thanks for letting me know about the bug! I'll fix it as soon as possible!

Edit (21/5/21): I fixed the bug, version 1.1 is available for download. Thank you!
Hello! I just downloaded the game today! I would love to play more, but when I entered Haru's bedroom to go to sleep, she walked on her own into the wall, and then suddenly appeared lying down in her bed. When she got out of bed, she was on the wall again, and I had no means of getting off the wall, although I could step on the clock. This unfortunately locks me out from the rest of the game... ^~^;
This bug doesn't seem to have been present in previous versions, at least from what I saw from UMTerry's stream, where it appeared he was able to walk freely when he went in.
I really hope this can get fixed soon, I'm very intrigued! :>

First of all: thank you so much for downloading my game! And also for letting me know about the bug;;;

I think I know what went wrong, you probably turned off the light in Haru's room (that's why it went well with UMTerry's stream, he didn't if I remember correctly) - I made a mistake with the move route there, I'm so sorry.

It's fixed now, the newest download should work fine!

Thanks again for telling me!
I really hope you will enjoy the rest of Lullaby.

Welp, I finished playing the game and it was a fun and interesting experience! The story is absolutely its main strength but I also like all of the dialogue of the different characters and you made good use of the Khas Ultra Lighting script. The art by NIWA was also very damn good and the puzzles were also fun. All in all, a pretty decent game and I'm glad I was finally able to play the finished version!

I could go into more detail, but I don't want to spoil anything for future players ;)

Best of luck with any future projects!
I finished the game, it definitely sad what actually happened. You definitely did a job on this game considering its your first.
I loved the ending! Great job, especially for a first try at a horror game!
However, I encountered one more bug that bricked my save file (thankfully, I had an older save file set aside so I didn't lose too much time, ahaha).
I went into the bar's restroom before I acquired the old radio, and I couldn't go back into said restroom afterward, making me unable to progress any further.

I'm honestly excited to start a new project some time in the future and use a the things I learned during this one.

Aaah thanks! I'm so happpy people are enjoying my first game. That honestly means a lot.

I looked at it - and it should be fixed now. I'm uploading the newest download right now.
I love it. The story, Haru because they're so cute, the puzzles, atmosphere, the intro, the voice acting and the mystery

The music is ambient music right? Unfortunately, I barely heard it and so did my OBS studio
