Falling...
Purgatory comes from the Late Latin verb meaning "to cleanse." It is a hellish realm where people's souls temporarily reside, to admit their sins and receive punishment. In Roman Catholic doctrine, souls atoned for past sins in purgatory before they were allowed to enter Heaven.
This game is made by Nama using Wolf RPG Editor and it was released on December 13th, 2016. The American fan translation group, Memories of Fear, translated this game and released it on October 31st, 2017.

I'm having trouble with a puzzle. I'm at the last part with the spider and then there's a button puzzle but I can't seem to solve it. Any help.
I have a visual walkthrough to help you beat that puzzle:
01.) Hit the bottom left switch.
02.) Hit the bottom right switch.
03.) Hit the top right switch.
04.) Hit the middle switch.
05.) Hit the top left switch.
If you have done it correctly, the shutters will unlock.

Probably missing something obvious, but I can't find the nine-letter password. All the clues I've seen add up to a much longer password. I have tried the game title.
Apart from getting stuck like this, I am enjoying the game. Proper visceral horror.

To find the nine-lettered password, you have to mess around with the crank in the large room filled with grates. There is a clue as to how to solve this puzzle on a sign next to a hanging corpse.
But if you cannot find it, here are the directions you need to turn the crank:
Right, Right, Left.

The game only has two endings: The Bad Ending, and the Demonic Ending (which is just the in-game name for the good end). So don't worry, you haven't missed anything.

Unfortunately, you cannot do anything with the dress. Enri is afraid of ruining it.

First of all,a big thanks to the translation team for making it possible for us to play such a great game.
I dont know why i love it, but i do. It has a very special charm to it.
Also does anyone know how to get the character sprites? (like the standart enri one in the character menu of this page, the one at the end of my post)
Cause i would really like to download enris sprites. Especially the demon ones.

Hi! I played Purgatory some week ago, and I really liked it! I admit that I had to look for a playthrough (well, to be honest, it was the preview of a playthrough that made me know about this game) to figure out what the password for the Demonic Axe was (I hadn't understood 100% clearly what I had to do), and to the end I was like "The hell is happening..?". Oh, and the last multi-button puzzle with walls trying to crush you was a bit... heh... I didn't enjoy it very much (even though I beat it third try making use of pure luck). But aside this... I enjoyed it a lot, it was a good game! Very good, and I'm interested to see what will Purgatory 2 be!

Wow this game was good! Everything was just perfect. As a bonus it wasn't in 4:3 like every game like this, it was in 16:9. I kind of spoiled the game by watching a video of someone completing it, but it made me know of this game. I can't wait for 2.
