A Game About Alien Invasion

My playtime: 10:27:12 (last save before final boss of Ending A')

Intro
SpaceSave is a game about several kids that are trying to stop(?) alien invasion. You'll control up to 4 party members that will join as the story goes. The game is divided into 3 sections: before school (morning), before class (afternoon), and after class (evening). There is also an extra section that will happen when you sleep. The game will end in 4th day.

Music
To be honest, i hardly hear any music in this game. I think the only time i heard the music is when you're exploring the town, and the music is quite good.

Graphics
Most (if not all) of the game's graphics are using custom graphics. I like how the graphic looks and all, but most of the maps are too big for me and it takes me a long time to traverse the areas. I find that the dungeon designs are great though.

Story
The game has a lot of dialogues; i'm quite impressed with how the NPCs have different dialogues and placement every day. Some of the NPCs talk a lot and you might get bored listening to their pointless conversation, but some are great. There are also some side quest that you can trigger by talking to some of the NPCs.

As for the main story, the main story is quite straightforward, especially since you have been told what to do and what's coming from the start of the game. However, as the time goes, you'll uncover more secrets of one of your friend's family. I find it a pity that you can only make up what happened from the clues though. I wish that i can read the full story in a cutscene or something.

Are you okay, bro?

I also love the ending. There are 3 endings in total and i only unlocked 2 endings so far, but from those endings, i can see that no matter which choice that you choose, it's not entirely wrong. I also love how logical the ending is.

The game
The game starts with you in a white room and you'll enter the tutorial soon after. As i said before, the game divides itself into 3 sections: before school (morning), before class (afternoon), and after class (evening). You'll hunt for items lying on the floor (and grab your lunch) in the morning, doing some side quests in the afternoon, and buying items and grab some other side quests in the evening.

Yeah, there are side quests in this game, and this game has a lot of them. I love doing them, although it might be hard to keep track of them if you're playing in short sessions. Some of the side quests might also end up being serious and you might run into some mini bosses, while some are quite funny. Although you can skip the side quests, i think that you'll miss a lot if you do because exploring the town over and over is the charm of this game. You might get bored after doing some exploration several days though, especially if you're also item hunting in the forest since the areas are very big.

I didn't expect that children's brawl will end up like this..

There are also some dungeons in the game, and you'll mostly have to collect items in order to unlock the boss' room. There are also some puzzles in some areas which i find quite interesting. The game also has random encounters and i actually like it since it has very low encounter rate. However, the party members are quite weak so your party member might be killed by the enemy. Their skills also cost a lot of SP (MP in some games) too so i can't really spam it on all enemies. There is also a skill that can restore all SP in your party, but since the skill is obtained by the party member that has party heal skill, sometimes it's hard to decide whether you have to heal SP or HP. Plus, that party member has a very low HP so he can die very easily.

Math? Really?

There are also some chests that can give you great items, called Chest Fairy. However, there is also trap chests called Chest Demon that will reduce your party's HP (and often killed one of them from full health). To be honest, it's quite suck that you have to take that much damage from a trap chest.

Since the game has low encounter rate, it's quite hard to farm gold. It'll be quite hard to get all of your gears upgraded and buy all of your items if you spend them on recovery every single time, so i usually depend on places that can restore your HP and SP. However, those places are quite rare since they can only be accessed in dungeons.

Lastly, although there is a warning for epilepsy people on the front page, i have to say that the game has quite a bright light (especially on the disco room).

Pros:
- 3 endings
- Low encounter rate
- Hard to farm gold
- Tons of side quests

Cons:
- Chest Demons take too much HP
- Skills use too much SP
- No quest tracking
- Maps are huge

Conclusion
This is a decent exploration game. If you like to read conversations (especially with NPCs) and doing side quests, you might want to try this game.

Thanks a lot for the review!

I'm glad that you've liked the endings, because I've got mostly none or negative feedback about them, from other people.

And, actually, I'm working on implementing the quest tracking right now. It should (probably) be added into the game in the next patch, in a few months.

no problem, thanks for making the game too! i'm not really sure why people don't like the endings though (because it's not the general ending that everyone usually get?). i just like it because it sounds more realistic.

i'm glad that you're going to add the quest tracking too. it's good to see that you're still doing some improvements to the game :)
