So far so good on progress, demo might be released on time but there's a 50/50 chance that it may be pushed by the first week of May since work's been keeping me away from the computer. We'll have to see how my work schedule goes but thankfully, April doesn't have a lot of holidays so I might be able to take it easy from here.

Next progress report will be posted on April 20th. Time for game making!

Announcement

First game, first blog - How exciting!

Hello everyone! This is The Annoying Bugbear, aka Chief, and I am happy to announce the arrival of my first game called "The Crystal King". I have no idea what kind of reactions I will get but all the more reason to get excited for a new brand game. So for the first blog, I will detail a couple of things about the game and what is to be expected in the next couple of months.

First question: When is the demo coming out??

I'm shooting for April 27th, which is a month from now. I'll be posting a new build every two months with new content and updated changes if I get any feedback within that period of time. Hopefully if planned correctly, the alpha build will be posted in October, which is one month before the actual release.

Question #2: What's so special about November 23rd??

November 23rd is my birthday! Yes, bugbears do celebrate the holidays. =) I figure releasing the game on my birthday would be a special occasion and a certain accomplishment in my life. Though, if the game is not ready by the time Thanksgiving approaches, expect a 2 week delay if that happens. Probably won't happen but it all depends on my work schedule.

Um, third question! What kind of feedback are you looking for in your demo?

Truth be told, I can be insecure about my art sometimes. But I think the art is the least of my worries. What I would like to know, as the player and tester, are the following:

-Did you enjoy the game/demo?
-Did you use the Treasure Grid? Was it easy to use or hard to follow?
-Did you prefer one difficulty mode over the other?
-How was the story? Was it cheesy? Convoluted? All over the place?!
-How was the pacing of the game? (Too fast, too hard, too easy)
-How was the mapping? There's not a lot of puzzles in the demo but expect a lot of them in the future builds.

While it is true that I studied game design, I am going to say this now:

I AM NOT PERFECT AND I CAN MAKE MISTAKES IN GAME MAKING!

If you catch any bugs, grammatical errors or anything odd in the game that doesn't need to be there, please let me know asap so I can fix it right away!

I still have a lot of work to do in the next couple of weeks but all this excitement is getting me pumped up to work harder than ever to push out an acceptable demo. I hope you guys enjoy the game once the demo's out, I will be posting a new blog every two weeks to keep you guys updated so stay tuned. Thanks guys!
