Hello everyone! Welcome to my review for Vega Legacy by Pianotm! This is a Sci-fi RPG that tells the story of a human girl named Tayla, whose cruise was destroyed, and crashed on an Alien planet called Vega 2. The game has a very unique and memorable aesthetic with really cool mappings to back it up. The game does a good job at leaving the players full of intrigue at the very start of the game.

First Impressions: Again, the game makes a really sweet first impression because of its great artistic direction with the sprites, face sets and tile sets it is using. The story is also able to awaken the player’s curiosity early in the game. It made a good first impression overall, and can easily hook you once you get to know the characters.

Story/Characters: At first you may think that Tayla is kinda mysterious, but the game actually introduces her background slowly to you and you will get to know her well by then. The story revolves around a certain woman who is a CEO on the Alien Planet, hell bent on exploiting the sentient beings of Vega 2 just so she can get her desired outcomes for her company. It was all very sweet, getting to know sentient aliens as you journey the planet. The story does a great job at capturing that sci-fi feel where you’re alone in an alien planet and the first humans you meet are actually very scheming and are not very concerned of the planets’ creatures’ well-being.

Gameplay: The gameplay features a simple Action Battle System. You get to mash shift a lot in order to destroy your enemies. Though there obviously is no focus on battles here, it was still a very fun addition for a story-driven game. Not to mention that the menu is intentionally limited, and is quite fitting.

Graphics: The sprites and the face sets used are all very good! I love them! They fit in very well for an RM2k3 game. The game also features cool simple arts for the player to marvel on while keeping the pace of the story.

Music: The music are good, not something I’d be able to remember, but they’re decent enough to fit in well with the game’s setting. They’re upbeat enough to keep the exploration and the plot fun and interesting.

OVERALL: This game has a lot of potential and I’m already loving the look of it. As a Sci-fi enthusiast myself, it didn’t fail to get me hooked in exploring more of its story and intrigue. Very well done, I must say. I still cannot give this game a score since it’s a demo, but I would, however, give it a 4.5/5 if I could. The – 0.5 is mainly because of some small bugs and issues present during my playthrough, but at least they weren’t game breaking enough to make it serious.
