2018 Game Demo Trailer


Welcome to the world of Nimbin, a world full of strange characters and even stranger characters. Shooty and Zaat are a team dedicated to solving mysterious monster mysteries, for a price of course, as much as they love what they do they cant do it just for the love ya know. In todays episode a call comes in from a mushroom mining town called Grit where strange things are definitely afoot!

Shooty and the Catfish is an episodic series with 5 episodes in total planned, each of these episodes building on the mechanics and story as they go. With a Game Boy Color inspired aesthetic and an original EDM soundtrack by Jim Hort and a unique resource management based combat system, I hope you enjoy this first entry into this strange new series.

Shooty and the Catfish - Episode 1: 1.2 Update

Hello everyone, without Shooty and the Catfish Episode 2 looking at a hopeful release on October 1st I thought it was a good time to update Episode 1 with a few quality of life improvements from Episode 2, along with some other small tweaks. You can find the full list of patch notes below.

- Correct Battle Backgrounds will now display for both Cordybiceps and Mr Millipede.
- Doors have now been updated visually to clearly show if they are an elevator door or require a small/big key.
- The optional boss fight has been rebalanced.
- Pistol ammo store price has been reduced from 5 gold to 3 gold.
- Clearer direction is given after defeating Mr Millipede.
- An icon now appears above your bed once you have defeated Mr Millipede, activating it will ask if you want to end the game immedietely or if you would like to go take care of the optional boss/figure collection sidequest. If this side quest is completed the game will automatically end.

I hope you look forward to playing Episode 2 as much as I look forward to releasing it.

I just finished the demo and I will leave my comments here:

I had a blast and just want to leave some short thoughts!

Things I liked:

- The enemy graphics are amazing. They ooze with so much personality and I actually look forward to running into them.

- I loved the battle animations and how smooth they were. Stabbing has never been so fun.

- I liked the nice touch of on map enemy death animations. I think the crabs shot blood lol?

- The skull guy who cussed every second. He had me laughing every sentence. He caught me off guard at first which was great.

- The amount of treasures were very enjoyable.

- The music is very catchy. The normal battle theme reminded me of Mother 3 for some reason. And I liked the ambient noises from the sewers.

- Most importantly, battles are smooth and fast. They never dragged on at all.

- I really liked the Gameboy type save station thing. It's just a nice little touch of nostalgia.

- I never thought I would be called a cuck or leftist by a boss, but it made me very happy.

Anyway, I am hyped for the full release and would love to write a proper review when its finished. Take your time with it, I'm impressed! Great work.

Aw shucks.

Time will tell, I don't see it happening personally, its my first attempt at a large project and has some gameplay issues that cant be fixed without starting over BUT maybe it will all work out in the end, ha ha.
