A Short Game About Young Elf-Fairy Mix's Guild

My playtime: 01:40:33 (last save, before final boss)

Intro
Elf's Diary is a short game about a young elf fairy mix's guild. The game has 3 short dungeons in total with 4 bosses.

Music
The musics are relaxing and i love them. It fits well with the environment too.

Graphics
The game's mapping are decent. The dungeon design are too simple and looks like lazily done though, but it's not like i'm complaining. I also like the additional items that are placed on the ground to make the ground not to look plain.

Story
The game has a lot of self perspective narrative in the start that are used to introduce the characters' traits. I think that it's a good way to introduce characters in your game. The game's main story is quite straightforward, with a bit of twist in the end. I'm still quite confused as to how the king's brother turn to monster though. Main story aside, i think that the side character in this game actually is more interesting than the main story itself. I love the conflict and the relationship between each character.

I also think that the scene when you're recruiting people is quite odd. I prefer the one when Madel joins the party.

I didn't expect that I'll find this in a game.

The game
The game is actually just like your ordinary turn based RPG games, except that you only have one town and the store sells all of the available equipments from the start, including the strongest ones. I don't really think there's a need to sell that many equipments though, since you'll mostly only use the first few ones and the very last one.

Speaking of equipments, the initial equipments that the party have are very weak; they can't even handle the first fight in the dungeon. I keep on dying on the first fight because there is always an automatic fight when you enter the dungeon and i forgot to save beforehand (i usually save once i enter a dungeon). Although the automatic fight happens when you enter all dungeons, i only have the problem in the first one (actually i also have a trouble in the second dungeon, but it's not really a problem since i forgot to upgrade my equipment) because even with the limited equipments that you bought with your money, you still need to strategize and use your skills very well in order to beat the enemies. Also, since we're talking about that, yeah, the enemies are very strong. It might take several turns to kill them so it's quite hard to get used to it for the first fight, especially with the tutorial fight being quite easy to beat.

Although the enemies are very strong, you'll only have trouble at the beginning of the game. After you level up several times, you'll learn a skill to increase your AGI. This is actually one of the best skill in the game because this skill will grant you an extra turn point for you to use with a maximum of 10. These turn point is actually the one that you use to battle and the number of turn point that you have per turn will depend on your party member's number. With 10 turn points, you can instruct your DPS (yes, you can use this turn point to any character you want, no matter how many time it is) to spam his/her most damaging skill until the enemies die. I think i beat the final boss in 2-3 turns thanks to this skill (and several other ultimate skills of the other characters).

Any last words? I have my 10 turn points already.

The enemies also give a lot of exp and you'll most likely to level up after each battles. Leveling up recovers both of your HP and MP, so it's quite convenient. You actually can recover your HP and MP for free in the inn, but this feature saves me from walking to the inn after each battle (since i'll most likely use up my party member's MP to kill enemies). Also, there isn't random encounters so you don't have to worry about walking to the town if you want to.

Lastly, i don't really like that the game uses the same button for dashing and skipping text. I dashed almost every time in the game so i always keep the shift button pressed. This makes me missed a lot of the text in the beginning of the dialogue (the best that i can do is to skim them, but still.)

Pros:
- 3 dungeons
- No random encounters

Cons:
- Fights are a bit difficult at the beginning of the game
- The game uses the same button for dashing and skipping text (shift)

Conclusion
This is a decent turn based RPG game.

ps: I think i find a bug. You'll get this when you press shift in this direction.
