In response to the lighting, I realize that it just looks like a cheap visual effect in a screenshot, but that's because it's hard to convey what's happening on screen. The lighting isn't done by a fog; there's a series of animated lights that illuminate the city. It shifts and alters dynamically ingame.

Nah, the criticism is valid without context. The city of Viadahn is located in the polar north, where they experience seasonal day and night. Because they spent half the year in total darkness, they've installed a vast network of artificial lighting to illuminate the city and simulate a day/night cycle.
That's really clever, Sailerius. I do agree that, based on this picture alone, the lighting does look to be a bit much, but I look forward to checking it out in-game so you can prove me wrong.
I don't know but it looks very good to me.
I don't feel its a valid critique...first it looks great, sure it could be toned down but I think we forget we make games when we give critiques...it's a different world not a total emulation of ours so if you want to have lighting effects that go wild than go for it. I think things like this set our games apart and add to a uniqueness.
