The World (one of them)

The world of RhynTParthea is an ancient one, drowning in history, not all of which is terribly relevant. As you can see, the known world is comprised of six continents, plus the neutral floating island of Veridian, home to Timekeep and the Time Dragon.

If you retain only one thing about Rhyntparthea, let it be this: it is a world ruled by dragons. On every continent, humanoids are to one degree or another subservient to their draconic masters.

HAMMERSFALL
Hammersfall is largely populated by hill dwarves who are perpetually at war with the orcs and goblins along the foothills and mountain ranges. The Crimson Dragon Baron, Varymar, rules this region along with his brood of flame dragons. The orcs and goblins know to pay homage. The hill dwarves had best seal themselves in their dwellings and hope they are well set for a siege, or perish in fire.

LOREWOOD
Lorewood is the Eastern peninsula of Ryntparthea's Western continent. It is also home to the High Elves, undisputed masters of magic, at least among humanoids. They have frequent congress and traffic with the nearby floating island of Veridian. By tradition, the first child born to Lorewood's royal family is given to the Emerald Dragon Baroness, Aemmyth. In return, the High Elves live in peace under the elder dragon's rule.

WILDEHAVEN
The Wood Elves of Wildehaven couldn't be more different from the refined and effete High Elves of Lorewood. They're nearly feral, and masters of the forest. They occasionally war with the mountain dwarves of Wildehaven's eastern mountain range. The region is ruled by the Ice Dragon Baron Ulfyr who the mountain dwarves cautiously revere.

FELLGARD
Fellgard is the home of humanity on Rhyntparthea. It is not a comfortable home. Long before humans settled in the south of the continent, the Ebon Dragon Zylvidar Blackfyre ruled the northern wastes, practicing necromancy and other black magicks to his black heart's content. The Fellgardians are now readying themselves to fight a war of independence against the Ebon Dragon Baron. They will need all the help they can get.

SILVERMOON
Silvermoon is home to the Dark Elves, who revere the Ruby Goddess of Death Lenore especially in their pantheon of gods. The huge lake at the center of Silvermoon is known as the Great Cenote, and is home to a an entire civilization of merfolk, and the Azure Dragon Baroness, Cyrlira, whom the merfolk revere.

YOKAI
Yokai is mysterious and unknown to most of the rest of Ryntparthea. Humans live there, but of different stock and culture than the humans of Fellgard. Many kinds of beast-people inhabit Yokai as well. The human noble houses of Yokai are currently consumed in wars amongst themselves. Weapons such as the katana, the wazikashi, and the great Yokai longbow hail from this strange place. The beastfolk of Yokai are said to worship its Golden Dragon Baroness, Chyokasso, as a goddess.

VERIDIAN
Veridian is a floating island uplifted and held aloft by sorcery solely for the pursuit of sorcery. It is also where most of this game takes place. The island is entirely dedicated to the pursuit of learning magic for its own sake and is politically neutral. It is expected that at Timekeep, Veridian's capital city, High Elven Wizards, Fellgardian Nobles, Dark Elven Clerics, and Dwarven Engineers will all treat each other peacefully and with respect. Veridian is ruled by the Time Dragon, hidden grandmaster of the Chronomancer's Guild. The Time Dragon is an Elder Dragon, meaning he is technically the equal of Varymar, Aemmyth, Ulfyr, Zylvidar Blackfyre, Cyrlira, and Chyokasso, but has recused himself from the title of Baron to focus purely on the pursuit of his research and the rearing of the clutch of orphan dragons he has gathered. One must wonder, however, as with any Dragon Elder, if the Time Dragon has motives, machinations, or political ambitions he has concealed...
