CAPGRAS is an RPG horror game using RPG Maker VX Ace. The game was inspired by many other RPG horror games like Mad Father, Blank Dream, Paranoiac, etc... and features some classic horror gameplay and experiences.

It tells the story of a young woman who recently bought a new house in downtown, where she finds a weird board game named "Finding Treasures". So she decides to play it alone. When she plays, she happens to experience a lot of strange and freaky phenomenal in her very house that eventually drives her into endless madness.

It will also have multiple endings depends on your choices and how you play. Every decisions you made will have different outcomes. It will have extra cutscenes after you finished it (If you found enough "things" in order to have an extra cutscene). There are not lots of thing to say about the game mechanics because it's really simple and quite easy - much like every RPG Horror Games.

Wow, it's so great to know that there is actually someone who knows about my game on gamejolt. Hope you keep supporting my game, man.
I played the demo. I think it definitely has a lot of potential! The atmosphere was really effective, the use of silence especially. And solving the puzzles was tense and I kept forgetting which room goes where. I love the way you’ve zoomed in on the maps, I’ve seen a few games do that but it looks great, especially the glitchy effects. Same with the character art, it’s beautiful! There is a minor thing where you can walk outside one of the maps, with the black floor tiles, if you keep walking down. I love this surreal horror, I was asking questions by the end, wanting more. Excited to see the full thing!

Thank you so much for playing my game, I almost cried when I got the notification. Thank you for sharing your genuine thoughts about the game. Hope you enjoyed it and keep supporting the game as I will try to improve the game as much as I can.
Is the title a reference to the famous delusion?

Is the title a reference to the famous delusion?

Yes, it's a reference to the real psychological disorder called "Capgras delusion".
So I played the second demo (thanks for updating the download!)
I enjoyed it! It was also a little bit longer than the first one, so that was neat.
I got 2 endings, the one where you get hung and the one where you escape leaving the body in the cell behind.

So is Nancy being dead canon? Her corpse was creepy, spoilers especially that smile ugh.

I liked the saving sound for the menu. Reminds me of the one from the XP engine or the sounds of a Tamagotchi (random comparison, I know). The sound design and atmosphere are still great.

When you
die a few seconds after flicking the switch, spoilers I thought his head exploded! But it was just a spike I guess.
Those bells were loud, but I liked the clock tower setting.

I’m guessing the mannequins are husks or others who died/hallucinations, by some of the dialogue.
I’m not good when it comes to speculation, I will just anticipate the full game. Someone else pointed out in the comments that capgras delusion is a real thing, in which someone is paranoid about someone they know being an imposter, I actually looked this up myself out of curiosity. Interesting.

A few other things:

You can select items in the menu by clicking them twice (probably intentional) as an error sound plays. If you try this on the
electronic cube
it will disappear. (This is a common menu bug).

If you try to
go back down the stairs after the chase
the game will freeze. Though this is not the intended route the player is meant to take obviously. And entering the door under the elevator will confuse the AI (they won’t enter the room, just wait outside). Again nothing major. This is just me doing typical sequence breaking (the kind that won’t be found through normal gameplay). I found no typos, your translation skills are wonderful and I appreciate you bringing your game to an English audience.

I just wanted to say in advance I apologise for any nitpicking and over-enthusiasm but I hope you found my feedback useful or encouraging. And thanks for responding to all my messages and reading this far! Have a great day. ^^

I'm so glad that you completed the demo, I'm really appreciated ^^

About the endings, those were the two major endings of the demo. There is however an alternative ending

under the elevator where you meet the mannequin, there is a very familiar symbol on the wall, implying that you have to use a specific item, this is where you get a third ending

It is unlikely that she's dead, because the Mind Realm is a very tricky place, as it can manipulate and consume people's thoughts

the whole game is indeed a reference from the capgras delusion, so it is like a concept for the game as a whole. your mind becomes your enemy is basically the main point of the game

I love that you tried to sequence breaking the game as it helps me to find a lot stuff that happened in the game that I will never know it exists. Thank you so much for doing that <3

You've been a great supporter for my game and it makes me very happy, thank you for playing my demo and giving me a lot of feedback. The game is not perfect, but if you enjoys it, then I'm very happy about that. I hope you keep supporting the game until it's finished, that's all I can say. Love you <3
Haha, thanks for the help. I don’t know how I missed that.
So you try and use the keycard, and it just straight up kills you with a spike again. Wow, there’s really no room for error in this world is there? Only one ending allows you to escape alive.
