The NES and Nintendo would've made MILLIONS off of this!

I've been playing Venaitura off and on for about two weeks or so, and I have to say, it's an excellent take on retrogaming elements. I only played up to the part where you get the Holy Grail from Merlin after beating Morgan, so I didn't finish the demo. What I did play was enough for me to give my thoughts on this project as a whole.

THE PREMISE
The player gets to pick from over eight different classes to make a party with. These brave souls must travel to the world of Tsufana. There they must battle an evil Demon Lord and his Purveyors of DOOM! *insert lightning and thunder here*
<--TEH SQUAD!

THE PROCESS
This game draws heavily from the same aesthetics as 8Bit RPGs from the old NES, which is GREAT for a old-school gamer like me. The use of a limited palette of colors and the midi game music do an awesome job of capturing that retro console feel.

As you can see, the dev showed a great dev of love for this era of gaming while combining some modern humor/sensibilities into the mix to give it some originality. The battle difficulty is paced fairly well, as to keep the player encouraged without being overwhelmed, although the Bosses seemed a bit easy. I'll blamed that on my desire to search and figure out the map (and all the encounters that came with it).

THE PRONOUNCEMENT
So, why this isn't a total 5 mic CLASSIC? Well, it's little things that kinda ruined it for me. It seemed that the dev leaned on the damage tiles HEAVILY! Also, there were times where I was really confused onwhere to go next. Now, thanks to my experience in playing these retro RPGs, my explorations, helped me keep going on and find my way. These were minor annoyances, but they weren't unbeatable. In their way, these added to the overall playing experience. On the whole, this was a great game with a great feel and loads of replayability similar to what I've seen with the Final Fantasy Legend series.

I would definitely suggest this game to anyone looking to play an RPG Maker game worth playing.

Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

Thanks a lot for your review!
One thing to note though, the music is MP3, not midi.

TBH, I was stuck on how to do this review for like weeks! I should've had this out earlier! :)
Oh, and I forgot to ask: How did you get to Lv.9-10 during the demo?! I think the highest I've ever got after finishing everything was 6~.

I'm glad you decided to finish and submit this, regardless of how long it took! Reviews should be written at a comfortable pace, I think.

you know what. I was trying to find out how to get in Merlin's House(although I didn't know it at the time), so I was running around in the Forest ALOT! Plus I did a bunch of exploration. :D
Well that's great to hear! You'll be happy to know there'll be a lot of exploration to be done, especially when the ship becomes available.
