Hello everyone!

Development of Momo’s Adventure has been going at a decent pace. Special thanks to Mallory16 for being the first (and only, sadly) playtester. Because of your in-depth feedback, a lot of improvements have been made possible!

Now here’s an update! The first blog!

Chapter 4

Several maps for chapter 4 have been completed. This new chapter will take place in a new world outside of the school. It features a new playable character, new dungeons and small side quests. This chapter is expected to add 1-2 hours of additional game time, totaling the game time to 4-6 hours.

Item Database Overhaul

Unfortunately, the database for all item types is becoming messy. This is due to the fact that I have not made all the items and allotted enough room for them. So as I went on making this game, I added more and more items under each other. This is of course not an efficient way to handle the database, but I did it anyway. Now, I have to pay the price.

What this means is that save files in the future will become corrupted. This is not a problem if you’re not a playtester. If you are an existing playtester with a save file, I will have to make a debug event that will reset your inventory and give back the appropriate loot.

As for the items themselves, a lot of them have been made more useful and fun to use. Potions and support items are now stronger. Weapons and armor are in the process of a huge overhaul. And to make the database easier to manage, there will no longer be items of rare rarity (blue items). Some of the existing rare items will be removed while others will be converted to common rarity (white items). With the removal of rare items, legendary items (orange) will be slightly more rare. Sacred items (purple) will remain, but they will be limited, meaning that I won’t make a sacred item for every tier of weapon or armor. They will only be available for mid to high tier items. So for example, the wooden shields or plain shirts you find in the beginning of the game won’t have a sacred variant. The exceptions to this are accessories and of course, higher tier weapons/armor.

Future Playtesting

As stated before, save files will be corrupted so a debug event will be in the works. Current and future playtesters who complete the demo before the next patch hits will be able continue right where they left off in chapter 3 when version 2.1 arrives.

I hope to gain a few more playtesters. I can playtest games in return and provide feedback. I know it’s not much, but it’s the only thing I can offer at the moment. Perhaps I can provide a free copy of the game if it ever reaches that point.

Version 2.1 is expected to be released sometime in August 2019.
