You play the role of an unfortunate knight, Sir Edwin Pebbleton of Dungbottom, who desires one thing in life-to wed a fair maiden and restore his family name that his late father tarnished. Yet, Sir Edwin isn't the most prestigious knight in the land. He's poor, daft and quite unattractive. Finding a maiden to marry has proven to be a difficult task for him.

After a drunken night at the Crossroads Inn, Sir Edwin meets a guileful rogue that convinces him to embark on the adventure of a lifetime-to defeat the dreaded dragon Cinder and rescue Lord Thakk's fair daughter, Lady Isella. Finding Cinder, however, is not an easy task, and they are forced to recruit the aid of two others, locate Cinder's lair and pray they don't die in the process.

Take on the role of a comical and dimwitted band of heroes trying to survive in a world full of monsters, peril and roasted pheasant (it's quite nice). Can you rescue Lady Isella? Will Sir Edwin find the love of his life? And will the rogue, Kitrashusara, discover riches beyond his wildest dreams? Only you can determine their outcome.

Single ladies please apply! Do not fret by this young knight's ghastly appearance, his destitute coffer and his dying lands. What he lacks in knightly luxuries, he makes up for in honor and devotion. Sir Edwin enjoys long walks through the meadow and loathes bats.

Don't let this rogue's bright, crimson hair and black eye patch fool you; this kaeta is one to be trusted. He may have a bounty on his head in Yurl and Deshi Ratik, but Ostragen is a different land with new opportunities (and laws). Known as Kit by his close friends, this innocent rogue hopes to obtain mountains of treasure so that he may retire, settle down and live a quiet life deep in the forest as far away from the king and city guard as possible.

Prestorius University is very fortunate to have Fizrahn as part of their magical alumni. He's been valedictorian of his class and studied under the great Ghalahara the Powerful. What he has in studious intellect, he lacks in common sense, though. Note to self: when surrounded by knights clad in metal while standing in a shallow pool of water... don't cast lightning...

A cleric from The Divine Order. She's been sent on a pilgrimage by The Thesiriun in hopes to aid the innocent, smite the wicked and discover herself. She's kind, caring and possesses one mean healing spell, and she doesn't take blaspheming ogres lightly. SMITE ALL INFIDELS!

  • Decisions that will impact the story and future choices; shaping and molding the world around you.

  • No Random Encounters. All battles are scripted into the game to encourage exploration.

  • A story driven game with plenty of dialogue and character development (a lot of action and adventure too :)

  • Comical and satirical moments intermixed with some serious and meaningful outcomes.

  • Herb Gathering, Alchemy, Mining, Treasure Hunting, Fishing and Bunny Hunting!

  • Light humor and sarcasm that brings a "A Bard's Tale" type charm to the game (at least that's what I was trying to do)

This is my first game created in RPG Maker. It was originally done in VX Ace and just recently converted to MV. When I created this game, I wanted to focus on what I enjoy the most-writing and storytelling. I spent a lot of time developing my character's and telling a tale that was reminiscent of old comical fairy tale's from the 80's and 90's. I knew I wanted to go humorous, but not over-the-top, so I got some inspiration from A Bard's Tale and Princess Bride. I took a world full of normal, serious people and injected it with a dimwitted group of heroes to interact with them.

Along with my storytelling and character development, I wanted to create a game where choices matter. The decisions you make in the game will impact the world around you, and those choices will determine the difficulty of a dungeon or boss, or possibly how people, or even a town, interact with your party.

I really hope you enjoy my game if you take the time to play. I didn't have a lot of plugin/coding knowledge, and I'm not artistic, so much of the artwork I used is thanks to content creators across many forums and websites, so much of my game may look very familiar to many of you. I hope my story and characters make up for my lack of artistic creativity and coding knowledge. However; I would like to thank the content creators and those responsible for many of the plugin's I used. This game wouldn't have been possible without every single one of you. :-) Thanks!

Tales of Yuria: Mausoleum of the Gods *RELEASED*

The follow-up story for The Dragon God is now finished. You can download and play it here: ToY: Mausoleum of the Gods.

This is a short story (roughly around 4-6 hours) and just a follow-up to The Dragon God. Think DLC. This story follows where the first game ended and takes you back to The Crypt of Ancients. If you play, hope you enjoy :-)

Glad to hear that, dnel! Not sure if you knew this, but I'm actually coming out with a shorter story Tales of Yuria game very soon. The link is up above on my game page (along with Tales of Yuria 2. I'm at the VERY end of Mausoleum of the Gods, so I should be releasing it in a few weeks. On this page, I have all of my games listed.

It's basically the game that's going to bridge this game and part 2 together. Going to be much shorter (5-8 hours), but hopefully one you'll enjoy. Check it out up above and don't forget to follow. :-)

You can also join my Discord for more updates and to chat if you like. That's available under my links/social media above, as well.

I'm sure I'all enjoy them all!:)

Hi i just want to ask about the butterflies? how can i catch it? thanks! this is a great game btw!!!!

I managed to find out how to catch butterflies haha. now i just dont know how to get the last dryad anklet coz there are no more enemies in that part of the area. Pls help. Thanks! i really enjoy playing this game!!

***Edit again. I've finished the game! IT WAS SO AWESOME! I LOVE THIS GAME! hope you'll make more of this kind of games. Thank you so much for creating this game and Godbless!
Thanks for playing! Sorry it took me so long to reply to your question on my Discord server. I'm actually working on my next game, and it's almost done. It'll be a short story game (only about 4-6 hours)... but it'll lead into what Tales of Yuria 2 will be. I've already got the intro to Tales of Yuria 2 pretty much done, as well. Just started working on my games again. Took a small break to play a few games myself, but I began Masoleum of the Gods this week, and it's almost done. Check out my Discord server often. Going to start posting more updates there.

So glad you enjoyed the game. I feel like I'm getting better (hopefully), so really looking forward to putting my next one out there :-)
You're welcome! Thank you for making games like this. I'm really addicted to this kind of games. haha. I read your reply on discord thank you, i managed to find the last tree but it was too late coz the girl who gave that quest was already gone. hahaha. I'm looking forward to playing the next part of this game. Will wait for your updates on discord. God bless! :)

Thanks again! I always smile so much when people tell me they enjoyed my game. If you have any feedback... good or bad, feel free to share it on here or even in Discord. I have a #suggestions channel under my Gray Bard Gaming category.

I do know my questing system is really bad in this game. They expire, you can't go back to complete later, and no quest log. I'm fixing that in Tales of Yuria 2. You can also visit both Tales of Yuria (Masoleum & Gilded Crown) game pages from this page. Links are above:-) Hope to talk on Discord sometime. Feel free to post anytime.

@blackassassin7 Glad you're still playing and subbed for my second game. Writing story and dialogue is my favorite part about creating games, so that means a lot. Thank you. :-)

Let me know if you have any questions or run into any other issues. Thanks for playing!

Greetings. I started playing the game and have reached Larrenburg. There's one game-breaking event misplacement in the house where you're asked to help a woman "revive her plant". When you try to leave after the cutscene, you're asked again if you wish to help. Choosing "aye" renders the player unable to move since the event does not end. And regarding the same situation, is there actually a way to revive the plant without burning it?
You know... after testing my game countless times, so many different people playing it and the fact it's been out for over a year... you'd think I'd have all game breaking bugs flushed out LOL I'm sorry about that blackassassin7. This has been fixed and a new (yet another) version has been posted as the main download (v1.8).

Feel free to re-download and try again. If you do... just make sure you create a copy of your "save" file so you don't lose progress and then add to the new v1.8 folder.

If you'd prefer to keep playing, here's what caused the bug/issue:

It was a self switch problem. If you talk to her the first time and answer "Aye" to watering the plant, this doesn't happen because it correctly triggers the self switch. However, if you say "nay" the first time and then return to water her plant... saying "aye" the second time... it doesn't activate the switch properly, so her event didn't turn off, leaving her blocking the way out of the building. This has been fixed in the most recent download, but if you don't want to re-download and just play through... just say "aye" to watering her plant the first time she asks, and you should be fine.

As for the option to revive the plant without burning it...

No. If you say "yes" to watering her plant, Fizrahn will do the same every time. He's still a new mage and not good with his magic yet ;-) If it helps... leaving her plant alone, you'll eventually find out she was able to keep it alive anyway :-P

Thanks for playing and please let me know if you run into any other issues. Again-really sorry about that. Hope you enjoy :-)

Yeah, I chose "nay" first then "aye" second and the event did not play properly. Anyway, I simply left her alone and have not encountered any other problem. I've finished the Cathedral part already. Btw, I've subbed for the second installment. I enjoy 10-20 hour games with a deep story and such.

Hey! Started playing this a couple months ago and really liked it, but then got busy with work. I have some free time and started playing again. I'm at the mine looking for Grugg. Really enjoying the game and saw on Twitter that you're working on Tales of Yuria 2- is it almost done???
So glad to hear work slowed down, and you decided to play my game again. Hope you enjoy the rest and reach out if you get stuck or have any questions.

Yes, I'm currently in the early development stages for Tales of Yuria 2. I just posted the game page on here. It's still pending but should be up soon, so you'll be able to check that out and follow for updates. :-)

Unfortunately, it still has a way to go. I have about 5-8 hours of gameplay completed, but the plan is to make the sequel longer than this one... so my current goal is the end of next year (2021).

Awesome! I am so excited :) good luck completing the second game- can't wait to play it!!

so if battles are scripted does that mean i can't grind for levels?
*Sad Gamer noises*

Correct. No grinding or random battles are in my game. This was a decision I made because I, personally, never liked random encounters in games. I like battles, but I want to be able to clear an area and then explore it freely without worrying about constant random encounters happening every few seconds. Wanted to encourage exploration.

However; I do know some people enjoy random encounters and grinding for levels... so I do apologize. However; there are plenty of monsters you can choose to fight. I've actually gotten feedback that sometimes there's too many. So... you could always fight everything and just never run away from any battles :-)

Leveling up your character only gives additional HP and MP. You gain all ATK, DEF, MAT and MDF through equipment, and you learn new abilities by finding scrolls. There's also a vendor that sells the ability scrolls in the event you didn't find it. Most abilities are easily found, though.

Are you currently playing? Or haven't decided yet?

Hello, i just finished the game and its really good
Do you plan to make a sequel?

Thanks for playing Misake! So glad to hear you liked my game :-)

I am currently working on 2 games for Tales of Yuria. One is a shorter game: Mausoleum of the Gods. It will pick up right after this one ends. I'm almost finished and will be posting it soon.

I'm also working on Tales of Yuria 2, as well. However; I still have a long way to go for that one. I'm still working on the intro and getting more custom artwork done. ToY2 will have its own artwork (sprites, faces, and battlers). So I'm really excited to share this eventually :-)

I will be putting both pages on here once they're closer to completion, but you can get more frequent updates if you join my DISCORD. I'll be posting sketches, progress updates, and answering any questions if you're interested in joining.

Thanks again for playing :-)
