You play the role of an unfortunate knight, Sir Edwin Pebbleton of Dungbottom, who desires one thing in life-to wed a fair maiden and restore his family name that his late father tarnished. Yet, Sir Edwin isn't the most prestigious knight in the land. He's poor, daft and quite unattractive. Finding a maiden to marry has proven to be a difficult task for him.

After a drunken night at the Crossroads Inn, Sir Edwin meets a guileful rogue that convinces him to embark on the adventure of a lifetime-to defeat the dreaded dragon Cinder and rescue Lord Thakk's fair daughter, Lady Isella. Finding Cinder, however, is not an easy task, and they are forced to recruit the aid of two others, locate Cinder's lair and pray they don't die in the process.

Take on the role of a comical and dimwitted band of heroes trying to survive in a world full of monsters, peril and roasted pheasant (it's quite nice). Can you rescue Lady Isella? Will Sir Edwin find the love of his life? And will the rogue, Kitrashusara, discover riches beyond his wildest dreams? Only you can determine their outcome.

Single ladies please apply! Do not fret by this young knight's ghastly appearance, his destitute coffer and his dying lands. What he lacks in knightly luxuries, he makes up for in honor and devotion. Sir Edwin enjoys long walks through the meadow and loathes bats.

Don't let this rogue's bright, crimson hair and black eye patch fool you; this kaeta is one to be trusted. He may have a bounty on his head in Yurl and Deshi Ratik, but Ostragen is a different land with new opportunities (and laws). Known as Kit by his close friends, this innocent rogue hopes to obtain mountains of treasure so that he may retire, settle down and live a quiet life deep in the forest as far away from the king and city guard as possible.

Prestorius University is very fortunate to have Fizrahn as part of their magical alumni. He's been valedictorian of his class and studied under the great Ghalahara the Powerful. What he has in studious intellect, he lacks in common sense, though. Note to self: when surrounded by knights clad in metal while standing in a shallow pool of water... don't cast lightning...

A cleric from The Divine Order. She's been sent on a pilgrimage by The Thesiriun in hopes to aid the innocent, smite the wicked and discover herself. She's kind, caring and possesses one mean healing spell, and she doesn't take blaspheming ogres lightly. SMITE ALL INFIDELS!

  • Decisions that will impact the story and future choices; shaping and molding the world around you.

  • No Random Encounters. All battles are scripted into the game to encourage exploration.

  • A story driven game with plenty of dialogue and character development (a lot of action and adventure too :)

  • Comical and satirical moments intermixed with some serious and meaningful outcomes.

  • Herb Gathering, Alchemy, Mining, Treasure Hunting, Fishing and Bunny Hunting!

  • Light humor and sarcasm that brings a "A Bard's Tale" type charm to the game (at least that's what I was trying to do)

This is my first game created in RPG Maker. It was originally done in VX Ace and just recently converted to MV. When I created this game, I wanted to focus on what I enjoy the most-writing and storytelling. I spent a lot of time developing my character's and telling a tale that was reminiscent of old comical fairy tale's from the 80's and 90's. I knew I wanted to go humorous, but not over-the-top, so I got some inspiration from A Bard's Tale and Princess Bride. I took a world full of normal, serious people and injected it with a dimwitted group of heroes to interact with them.

Along with my storytelling and character development, I wanted to create a game where choices matter. The decisions you make in the game will impact the world around you, and those choices will determine the difficulty of a dungeon or boss, or possibly how people, or even a town, interact with your party.

I really hope you enjoy my game if you take the time to play. I didn't have a lot of plugin/coding knowledge, and I'm not artistic, so much of the artwork I used is thanks to content creators across many forums and websites, so much of my game may look very familiar to many of you. I hope my story and characters make up for my lack of artistic creativity and coding knowledge. However; I would like to thank the content creators and those responsible for many of the plugin's I used. This game wouldn't have been possible without every single one of you. :-) Thanks!

Tales of Yuria: Mausoleum of the Gods *RELEASED*

The follow-up story for The Dragon God is now finished. You can download and play it here: ToY: Mausoleum of the Gods.

This is a short story (roughly around 4-6 hours) and just a follow-up to The Dragon God. Think DLC. This story follows where the first game ended and takes you back to The Crypt of Ancients. If you play, hope you enjoy :-)

Oh, good. I am sure that I'll try it.
Thanks for your quick respond.

I enjoyed playing this games..for the most time.
But alas I can't play it anymore. There are just too many times the game kicked me
out to the Desktop...and because this game doesn't allows free saving reloading and playing the same a second or third time is not something I like.
The only pattern I see is that loading a new screen (entering a new area, house,
finishing a battle, vendor you name it it happend to me).

This is an issue that I thought I fixed but apparently didn't. I am currently having a select few test an updated version. The difficult part for me is that when I test it... it never crashes, and I even test it after I deploy it. So I'm not 100% sure why it's crashes for some... and not for others (including myself). Some that have played say it never (or rarely) crashed on them... others say it crashes a lot. So I'm trying to figure it all out. I really apologize for this.

I won't be posting the update on here until I know it works without any crashing. I made quite a few changes and hope to fix this very soon. If you like... feel free to Follow my page, or check back often, so you know the updated version is out (if you're interested in trying it again sometime). Thanks for playing and really sorry it kept crashing on you. Once I put up version 1.7... I'll post a blog on here announcing it. Thanks again! :-)

@HankGaming Thanks for playing my game AND doing a Let's Play for it. I've enjoyed the vids I've watched so far and looking forward to finishing! See you on Discord!
Hey here, it's HankGaming! The one who's doing the let's play for Tales Of Yuria: The Dragon God! ^^

First of all I want to announce that I officially has an account here! Second of all is that it's me who poured my own soul into making these episodes on YouTube (hehe)

Nothing much booming I wanna say in my first post here since the series is still ongoing (I'm 90% done when writing this post!) So yeah, expect me to get into deeper reviews for this game!

A very good game. Keeps me entertained. I like the mapping. Fighting strategy is also cool. Looking forward to playing Yuria 2.

Glad you enjoyed my game :-) Thanks for the positive comments on my mapping. I thought that was one of my weaker points haha Thanks again!

Adjusting game proprieties on Windows 8 compatibility, Reduced Color Mode and Full Screen Optimisation Desctivated reduced the crash problemes to near nil.
I hope that may help...

Thanks Old_Timer for sharing this! Hopefully this helps others experiencing the same problem. Also-thanks for playing :-) Enjoy the game!

Yep. Grugg's Lair. I'm enjoying it greatly so far. Didn't know battles are suppose to be challanging, I was playing like I could go and clean house (dungeon) in 1 run. Not a bad thing, just, the game is so cheery I wasn't expecting Dark Souls. Haha. My new solution was a classic dungeon crawling technique. Fight, Heal, deplete mana, run back to inn. save. repeat. The war of attrition has begun.

Dark Souls? Man... I didn't know my battles were that difficult. You have played Dark Souls before... right? :-P LOL I feel like we get each other here and can joke like this... what? Too soon? :-) But yeah, I can see your point. Really upbeat and cheery game, and then wolves want to bite your face off. Have you murdered a rabbit yet? That's when this game goes REALLY dark........

Real Talk, here's how last night went:
"Before entering into Grug's lair. I'm dead broke, 0 gold and no welfare check til tuesday, Shopkeepers got neat-o armor and weapons, but I'm looking at them like an asthmatic who just dropped his inhaler down a sewer drain. Try to show him my junk... he says he's not a pawn shop, he ain't buying. Tells me to get a job. What, in this economy? So now, I'm like Indian Jones up in this cave, I HATE SNAKES. Snakes looking at me like I owe them child support. These school yard bullies are laughing at my toddler-sized arms. But there ain't no gym I can go to. Can't get on my grind. And I think Tia might be allergic to snake venom, huh. 4 simultaneous bites from one the group of snakes on her face and she's in bed with a case of the deads. Either sexism or RNG gods have forsaken me. Two words a party never wants to hear, "Healer's dead." That's it, you have no idea who your messing with snakes, I am an imortal, toddler-armed snake-genocidist. Wander, treasure, kill 1 snake group, Inn, save. Always save."

I may need to recruit you to help write some dialogue for my characters. This was hilarious :-) And yes... always save. I didn't think that part through, but fear not, I got to the point I started putting campfires in places campfires don't usually go. Immediately regretting I didn't put hotdogs and marshmallows on the vendors, but based on Tyrfall Forest's current economy... probably couldn't afford them anyway.

Also, the long intro was hilarious. Legit enjoyed.
I'll let you know what I think of Grugg. He better not secretly be a giant snake.

No, but now I'm wishing I made him one... that would have been a nice twist :-) Glad you enjoyed the intro!

I have a conditional branch with random variables tied to traps.

Oh, this makes so much more sense: Flame traps are risk/reward, Toolkits upgrade later, game is not a pushover. Ok, Ok, I got it, that's on me, I was being somewhat impatient and assumptive.

Still playing though, but loved some of the humor so far. The battles are good, sometimes kicking my butt. Damn wolves stop howling, I'm about to die and I need to find a save point! Eat fire.

Glad to hear you're playing and enjoying the humor so far. That was one of my main focal points of the game :-) Hopefully the slight challenge in combat is a good thing? I always like a challenge, so I did try for that, but didn't want to make it too difficult. Keep me posted on that and how future combat goes.

Anyways, two thoughts:
•While I would always talk to anyone with a twirling orb above their head, everytime I forgot what each color meant. Pehaphs adding contextual icons or short words to the middle of the spite? Since it's already a hint element, it would just keep the player from having to memorize the colors.

Good point. I created the game, and even I sometimes forget the colors LOL I can always correct that in my next update. Or like you said... maybe even a reminder text or handbook.

author=TorqueMcFearson
•Also, I got gameover-ed failing to disarm a trap after attempting 3 times in a row. I assume its based on complete chance and outside my control (Correct me if I'm wrong. Dunno if leveling up trap disarming is gunna be a thing.) My suggestion is to keep it from giving you a gameover screen, keep you at 1hp minimuim. I know the RNG gods have it out for me, but the gameover was disheartening.

I have a conditional branch with random variables tied to traps. So success is % based. You can eventually upgrade to new tool kits for Kit increasing the success %. Quick hint (doesn't make it any less frustrating tho LOL), but the flame traps (the most damaging) only ever lead to loot (never needed to proceed further), so you can technically pass on those. The acid and poison traps have a higher success rate than the flame traps. When I did play tests, after a couple attempts at the flame traps when my parties HP got too low... I just accepted defeat and ignored them. Of course... probably not the best game mechanic since players are going to want to see what's in the chests haha

Hope you keep playing. Sounds like you're in Grugg's Lair. If you do decide to stop playing, that feedback helps me out a lot too. So def send me that feedback, as well (if you don't mind). Working on my sequel and really want as much feedback as I can so I can grow as a dev and make part 2 a much better experience for everyone :-)

Thanks for playing! If you ever get stuck or need help... feel free to contact me. I'm pretty active on here and should be able to respond pretty quick.

Thanks! Did you get a chance to play this one?
I did. I also left you a great review days ago but the site hasn't posted it yet.

Great! Glad to hear you liked it enough to play a second time. I'm still working on the next version with all your updates, but I've been busy on my other project (part 2). :-)
Looking forward to Round 2. Also, playing 1 over again:)

Going to start working on Part 2. Really looking forward to any feedback you can give. Even if you only play the intro or part of my game. I'm hoping to use positive or negative feedback to improve my next game :-) Thanks for playing!
So glad to hear this, dude

Thanks! Did you get a chance to play this one?

Just a quick update. I'm almost done with the prologue of the sequel. A bit different than this game. You'll play a lot more and won't be sitting through a long 20-minute cut scene. Story, combat, tutorials all mixed in. Once my prologue is finished, I'll be posting the page on here while it's being worked on so I can start showing artwork, post blogs and keep everyone posted. :-)

Well, I may have to still consider adding more healing options with another update. May wait until you finish so I can make all the corrections (bugs, etc) that you encountered. I already saved the image you had in your Locker.

For combat... did you read the combat journal? About how certain classes do more damage to others? Like... Sir Edwin will damage Rogue-like enemies more, and Fizrahn will do more damage to Warrior-class enemies. Kit will damage magic classes more. That may help you defeat troops faster (unless you already knew). Now that I'm thinking about it, tho... did I give the correct class VS class damages? I can't remember. If you have the combat journal read it... that'll explain LOL You'd think I'd know my own game LOL
