Steamed Hams, but it's RPGMAKER2003! but it's a review by LordBlueRouge
Length: ~10 minutes

*ding dong*

Well, LBR, I played it, despite your huge file sizes.

Ah, Frogge, welcome, I hope you're ready to play an unforgettable game.

Meh.

*LBR walks to the RMN page*

GASP!

*LBR's game is on fire*

Oh egads, my game is ruined! But what if I were to steal an old beloved meme and disguise it as my own game? Oh ho ho, delightfully devilish, LBR!

*LBR is climbing out window to switch to Youtube window, Frogge walks in.*

Ah!

♪♫ LBR with his crazy games. Frogge's gonna need his medication when he plays LBR's weird ass experimentations. There'll be trouble on RMN tonight. ♫♪

LORD BLUE ROUGE!

Frogge, I was just checking to make sure my mouse still worked by attempting to switch tabs! Care to join me?

Why is there smoke coming out of Rpg Maker 2003, LBR?

Oh, that isn't smoke, it's Steam! I bought the Steam version of Rpg Maker 2003! Mmmm, Steam Rpg Maker 2003!

*Frogge walks out and LBR runs to youtube.*

-Later in LBR's developer page-

Frogge, I hope you're ready for a mouth watering technical prowess game!

I thought you would be making a serious actual game for once?

Oh, no, no, I said RANDOM 2k3 game. That's what I like to make in 2k3.

So you keep making these crazy ass games that are actually really impressive for the engine?

Yes! It's an old rpg maker developer thing.

Oh really, what timespan?

Uhh, the 21st century?

Really? Well I started making games in the 2010s and I've never seen anyone make 2k3 games with animations this impressive.

Oh, not the 2010s, no, it's a 2000s thing.

I see.

*Frogge plays a bit of the game.*

You know this game is really similar to that one Simpsons meme that was circulating around on youtube with all the edits and stuff that was genuinely funny and does make a pretty good short joke game.

Ho ho ho, no, a totally original story, old rpg maker developer thing.

For a 2k3 game?

Yes!

And you call it an original game despite the fact that these great animations that look surprisingly charming when compressed into 2k3's color format are very impressive despite the fact that I've never actually seen you show off any of your art.

I, uhhh, you know, one thing I should... excuse me for one second.

Of course.

*LBR checks on his gamepage and comes back.*

Oh, that was wonderful, good times were had by all in this game, I'm pooped from making it!

Yes, I should be saying some actual feedback so that this review won't actually get denie- GOOD LORD WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THERE!

Why is the music here actually so creepy?! I got chills, dude.

A full length JRPG?

A FULL LENGTH JRPG? AT THIS ERA, WITH ALL THESE CRAZY SHORT EXPERIMENTAL RPG MAKER GAMES, HOSTED ON THE A SMALL SITE LIKE RMN?

Yes!

May I play it?

No.

*They walk back to the RMN front page.*

LBR, THIS GAME IS ACTUAL FIRE!

No, people, it's just a little technical rpg maker 2003 experiment.

Well, LBR, your games are rather odd, but I must say, they are a whole lot of fun.

*Frogge begins to walk away.*

5 STARS!

*Frogge turns back, as in to imply they're not THAT impressive. LBR gives a thumbs up. Frogge walks away.*

*REVIEWS COME FLOODING IN*

It truly is.

I give Steamed Hams five patented Skinner Burgers out of five.

(I must also acknowledge that this was a very clever interpretation of the meme and I love the little details like the game crashing when the firetrucks arrive and the JRPG credits that made me laugh. If I may voice one complaint, I would say that I wish there was a bit more branching in the story all the way throughout rather than just a gameover and an extra ending in the final battle.)

I just feel like you deserve some credit for actually making the review fit the meme format and still tell some things about the game. Also glad Skinner burgers don't equate to stars.

Thanks, it was a huge pain to try to fit the format and I was 99% sure this review was gonna get denied.
This review is fantastic, holy shit! Thank You Frogge! ♥

Yeah,
I wanted to mention this cause Kaempfer pointed this out as well, during testing. There were some things that I definitely wanted to add more to:

1)Like while you’re shopping at the Krusty Burger, if you don’t buy any burgers,
I originally wanted this clip to play from season 4 episode22:

https://comb.io/m4yzfi

“But this comes out of my salary, if I had a girlfriend she’d kill me”
and then have the sequence replay until you bought a Krusty Burger. (I may add this in later)

2)For the original best ending branch,
I actually wanted Seymour and Chalmers to go to a Final Boss Fight with Zeromus from Final Fantasy 4:

The joke was originally gonna be like. When you say "YES/YES" Chalmers looks down, looks up, Skinner smiles and then suddenly you're fighting Zeromus from Final Fantasy 4, with Chalmers as an edited Edge (cause he already has the gray hair) and Skinner as Cecil - ...But the problem was, I couldn’t figure out how to get the background to play correctly, for Zeromus's big bang attack, because Cherry’s picture-in-battle feature can only do so much. (it doesn’t wrap around, like frames or panoramas do in rpgmaker2003, but if it did, I would've went with this idea instead.

...Ultimately, I decided against these ideas, cause I wanted to keep the run time of the youtube video down to 6 minutes as much as possible. Some of the best steamed hams memes are 3 minutes to 6 minutes in length, anymore than that I was worried I'd risk losing my audience’s attention etc. So that’s why this game is as short as it is.

Having said that, I really appreciate this review! it’s so clever and it’s so well done Frogge, especially the little details in Chalmers dialogue XD. It really means a lot! But yeah man, this was a really cool read. Thank You dude♥!

I hope every review is as clever and cool as this one!
Reading this made my day, lol

I'm super happy this review actually worked, I kinda bullshitted some of it to fit the meme format, a bit more than I'd honestly like to admit. As for the ending branch thing, yeah, I guess wanting to keep it to 6 minutes for the sake of having it be more like youtube videos makes sense, so I'll give it a pass.
This is an amazing review to an amazing game.
I can't recall if there are Misaos given to the best review (I think there are not but I'm too sleepy right now to think properly) but if there is one I'd give it to this review. Made me laugh hard

There aren't but I appreciate the thought!! :D
...Seriously though, this was a really good review Frogge! Like, I think I've reread this at least 6-10 times now.

Have you ever had those moments in school, where the teacher would use someone else's paper as a great example, of a really good paper? This review is that paper! Like, it's so funny and yet so informative, I kinda wanna see, how this format would work for other games reviews, because it's just so well done. XD
