Coldsteel and the Chaos Shards

DESCRIPTION
Coldsteel plays like a traditional JRPG with a heavy emphasis on both its tragic story and engaging battle system. The story draws heavily from the original Sonic bible made in 1991. The battles utilize an active-time battle system with a focus on using your speed to delay the enemy attacks so that you can win a fight without getting hit. All encounters are on-map, meaning no random encounters. The demo showcases the first dungeon and boss.

SYNOPSIS
Colton and Sonny were normal hedgehog brothers. Their father died heroically saving his family from uranium miners that destroyed the hedgehogs' home. Sonny sought revenge and to understand his dad's death to the point it nearly consumed him. Colton saved Sonny by helping him work through his grief. Sonny used his gift of speed inherited from his father and joined the local track team. He also used his influence to promote environmentalism in a positive way.

The hedgehogs hibernate after Sonny wins many awards. During hibernation, Doctor Ovi Kintobor is searching for the Chaos Emeralds when he accidentally unearths Sonny. Sonny and Kintobor team up to find the Chaos Emeralds in hopes to save the planet from the evil energy companies.

Colton wakes up and finds Sonny missing. He tracks Sonny to Kintobor's lab hidden beneath a toxic waste dump. Kintobor and Sonny have just found nearly all the Chaos Emeralds and are about to activate them, but they forgot about the Grey Emerald needed to stabilize the other Emeralds. The chaotic energy contained in the Emeralds bursts. Colton jumps out just in time to protect Sonny from the blast.

Kintobor emerges from the burst as Dr. Eggman because he was eating a hard-boiled egg at the time. Sonny is hit by only residual power and becomes Sonic, super fast and, because he was protected by Colton, uncorrupted by the evil previously contained in the Chaos Emeralds. Colton becomes Coldsteel, a powerful hedgehog now tainted by chaos causing him to lack all empathy and respect.

Years pass. Coldsteel and Sonic now fight against Dr. Eggman to protect the Chaos Emeralds and the Chao. Coldsteel yearns to be as he once was but is held back by the evil within him. He thinks that purging the world of other evils might help him regain his amenable personality. Against Sonic's wishes, he sets out to destroy Dr. Eggman once and for all.

BONUS
By beating the demo, you will be treated to the first five levels of Chao Ranching, a puzzle game I put together in conjunction with Coldsteel.

FINAL NOTE
This game is a demo. I made it as a joke. Even though it's a joke, it doesn't suck. I had a lot of fun with this one.
