Everybody loved the young and friendly high-school teacher Sally Reynolds. Well, obviously not everybody, since she's been murdered last night.

Now it's your job to investigate her case, to find and secure clues as to who did it where and when. It's your job to interrogate the suspects and to make the best use of the team that assists you.

A warning: "The Last Lesson" is about investigating a murder. Somebody has died before the game even started, and - depending on your performance, there may be more deaths.
Also, there's occasionally strong language and open talk about adult relationships.
You better not play if you're easily offended.

Features:
  • Random crime. Who done it and how varies each time you play.
  • Point-and-click to search for relevant clues.
  • Decide which clues need further attention by your team.
  • Talk to suspects to learn potential motives.
  • Talk to your team, learn what they found out.
  • Use black light to find hidden clues.

Note: this was initially created as my contribution to the Abrupt Ending Party rmn birthday event.

I gravely misjudged the time I currently have on my hands and the time required for creating the game I wanted to create.

As a result, it still is in early stages of development - one week after said event had ended.

I'll probably stick with "abrupt ending" theme at least for now.

By the way, currently you can't win the game. You have a few ways of failing the game before it really started, and there's an automatic fail-because-it-took-you-to-long event.

But since you can't solve the case yet, and thus can't book your culprit ... there's no way of finishing before that.

Anyone willing to give this a test ride, please feel welcome to do so. Especially if you're using old, exotic or slow equipment; in that case I'd like to hear about your experiences with the fancy CSI lamp thingy.

Any other feedback is highly appreciated as well, as long as you remember that this thing is very far from being finished.

On that note ...

Stuff that's there:
  • Start room and things to do there.
  • A lose idea of what can be done with your team-mates.
  • Searching for physical clues.
  • The searchlight is working.

Stuff that ain't:
  • Many more things to find with the searchlight.
  • Some vital clues are missing.
  • The game needs unimportant junk to distract player from there goal.
  • Almost the whole story is missing (or rather the stories, as you have five different possible murderers to bring to justice).
  • The in-game help is pretty useless as it's still the standard ren'py stuff.

With time comes content. ;) And maybe even quality ...

An idea; perhaps Riku could make a cameo or possibly be referenced? XD

I like the idea itself - it'll be quite funny. ;)

It's a bit hard to pull off, though.

The Last Lesson is set in some unnamed western country. Let's just assume it's the US for the time being.

Just look at all those names. And Riku is Japanese, of course.

Alrighty, and we'll assume the town is Springfield since nobody can ever find out its geographical location. :P

I noticed that, and the general feel of the school (despite using the same backgrounds as HTC) somehow manages to be completely different from that one high school Kazuhiko goes to.

Good points you both, as anyway...
Any help regarding police specific language or forensic terminology would be greatly appreciated, by the way. Seems I watched way to few cop shows and none of them in English.
To anybody reading this: please feel free to test the current version and tell me about any bug, typo or oddity you run into.

Oh, and Riku does hide in there now, somewhere ;)
