"You thought this was a good idea, didn't you?"
Hidden deep in the forest and surrounded by mountains, there seems to be a place called "Crimson Leaves", described by urban legends as an abandoned town, stained by a tragic past. Though the town's existence is discussed, this won't stop a group of five teenagers who want to visit this place to have fun. What they don't know is that they're making a huge mistake: soon, a violent feeling will start to grow in their minds: "No one is to be trusted here."
"Around me, crimson-stained leaves" is a short horror videogame with point&click, exploration and suspense elements. Shortly after entering the abandoned town of "Crimson Leaves", the protagonist will find himself alone as all of his friends have gone missing. While exploring the place, he will realize that there's something terrible going on, as he witnesses a murder and realizes the lives of everyone are at risk.
Multiple scenes will require the player to react quickly to survive, either by hiding from a threat, struggling against a character or controlling the protagonist's thoughts.

Edit: I've just finished playing it, and it was pretty cool! It's short, but really well done nevertheless! I liked the maps, they were well made and structured. I recognized FSM tileset: that was a very good choice! I LOVE them! And they gave the town that "creepy abandoned" vibes. The atmosphere was also pretty good. I think it would be better if you added some background music though... Not in the town, I think that the wind effect there is enough. Maybe in the dungeon though. Maybe adding some footsteps sound would also be a good idea. They would give that "really silent echoing" effect... if you know what I mean. The story is also good. What it surprised me the most was the kind of gameplay (with gameplay I mean that thingie with the mouse). For me it's original, I've never seen something like that in a RPG maker game. I think there were some typos here and there, but that's ok. I'm not a native english speaker myself so... yeah, that didn't affect the game for me ;)

I KNEW that it wasn't Alan's fault! I mean... at the end he was innocent, right? It was Carl the murderer... Or did I misunderstand the ending?!

I do agree that the game is too silent on certain points, but I felt that adding music would've killed the atmosphere a bit. The footsteps, that's something I'll keep in mind (I didn't add too many sounds to avoid audio lag, MV is a bit annoying in that aspect >_>).
It's really nice to hear that you found the gameplay original! I put a lot of effort in those "panic" moments.
About spoiler stuff~
Who knows! The strange girl may be lying to mess with Alan's mind, or... she may be telling the truth, and Alan turns out to be the evil one.
I left that scene unexplained so players can make their own theories about it.

Is this the only RPGMakerMV game running slow in your computer?
I know MV runs a bit slow in some computers though i tried to not overload this game with graphics/events.
Closing other apps in your computer may help.
If the problem persists and other MV games run perfectly fine for you, tell me and I'll try to find a way to improve the game's performance.

Hey there! I just finished playing and I must say I really enjoyed it.
The mapping, the facesets (with emotions which I VERY MUCH appreciate) and even the cutscenes were very good. Maybe some bgm in the dungeon would be great. Overall, well done!

Btw, I knew Alan was the one who killed his friends when Lisa was not there and only Carl's cap was to be seen. Wait there is only one ending right? Oh, and Lisa, was Alan the one who killed her? Either I didn't pay attention or it wasn't shown if Lisa was killed in the flashbacks.

¡Me alegra encontrarme un juego tanto en inglés como en español del mismo creador por aquí! Recién me lo he terminado para festejar este espíritu del mes de los muertos.
Sobre lo demás, es curioso, soy un yonki del terror y este tipo de historias donde unos adolescentes empiezar a morir a manos de "algo" es mi droga preferida, pero no me he sentido del todo "colocado". Me esperaba tal vez escenarios más rocambolescos o tensión con ciertos personajes. No lo sé, por eso he recalcado tanto el broche final. Sin eso, he de admitir que me hubiera quedado igual que antes de darle al play.
No pretendo ser cruel, al final y al cabo ni yo sé qué es lo que estaba "buscando", pero estoy seguro que este juego no me ha llenado.
De todas formas y por lo general ha estado bien. El uso de los diálogos ha sido un acierto, poder ir directos a lo que importaba marcando las cosas con un interrogante y las peleas machacando el ratón poniendo a prueba nuestro brazo pajero son cosas que le suben puntos.

Sobre el juego he de confesar que su historia no destaca precisamente por ser original - al tratarse de un slasher convencional pero con un pueblo de por medio y con el plotwist del protagonista hacia el final- sino, sus últimos segundos. Fue sorprendente. No se acostumbra a hacer una obra de terror que termine con mal sabor de boca. Por lo general el prota se salva o la maldición de lo que sea se deshace... pero ese final tan cortante y a la vez, tan real me cogió por sorpresa. Gracias!

Hey, gracias por jugar "Around Me" y espero estés disfrutando Octubre.
Efectivamente la historia es un slasher, literal: al hacer la primera versión de este juego (que carecía de un montón de cosas, comparada con la actual) tuve una restricción de tiempo y pues quise hacer algo sencillo, que no me complicara tanto en temas argumentales: un slasher era lo más apropiado. Ya, después le fui añadiendo detalles para tratar de que la historia se sintiese más original, incluyendo el plot-twist del protagonista. Me alegra que esos detalles hayan sido de tu agrado.
En cuanto a lo que mencionas respecto la falta de escenarios y tensión, pues se debe al manejo un tanto lineal que le di a la progresión de la historia. Como mi intención era mantener este juego con una duración corta, el tratar de hacer encajar más contenido para "enganchar" al jugador fue un poco problemático, y el juego terminó resumiéndose en pasar de un punto a otro rápidamente, lo que además mató el desarrollo de algunos personajes, y eso no convence a todos.
Agradezco tu opinión, ya que necesito trabajar esos detalles para los proyectos que estoy realizando ahora y nunca está demás tener la visión de alguien más ;)

I enjoyed playing this game. It is so short though. Wanted more of it. I was surprised that I'd play with Alan at first but I like him the most anyway. I didn't see that end coming. anyway, I really loved it.

"Around Me" was first created for a short game contest, that's why it is so short (back then I didn't want to change or add too much new stuff for the official release).
Most of my future projects will have more gameplay and length compared to this one~.
