Sacred Reviews: The Most Dangerous Chicken

Introduction

"The Most Dangerous Chicken" was developed by Corfaisus for the Abrupt Ending Party. A game jam held back in June of 2019 in order to celebrate RMN's 12th birthday. And like many similar events this led to the birth of many silly games that aren't meant to be taken seriously. So don't look at "The Most Dangerous Chicken" as being like "Remnants of Isolation" or "Devil Hunter: Seeker of Power" and more like "Bothering Snape" or "WWF vs. WWF". With that being said I suppose I should discuss the insane adventure this game sends you on.

Story

You play as Clucks Fo Bucks, the legendary wonder chicken, who will reign destruction and terror upon the forces of darkness. Forces who gave birth to Clucks when they murdered her in past life with all of the consideration one might give to crushing an ant, but now that Clucks has the power to fight back it's time to get even. Or better yet make a wish to get even and avoid the tedious process of taking names and kicking ass.

Gameplay

The game appears to run on RPG Maker 2000's default system. As such, I really don't have a lot to say about it. After all, the only major difference the developer contributed to the combat system was to change the options Fight, Auto, and Flee to PeckNChews, Berserkz, and Flight. As such, the only notable differences between the combat system in this game and the default system are a few cosmetic changes.

As far as battles go they tend to be rather one sided affairs in the player's favor, but considering this is more of comedy game. I really can't fault the developer for making combat rather droll. After all, the majority of the battles that exist in this game are only meant to serve as brief reprieve from the off the wall humor on display in this game.

Graphics & Music

As far as I can tell the game also relies on the RTP for it's various musical and graphical assets. As such, I really don't have anything particularly positive or negative to say about the game on this front either.

In fact, the biggest gripe I can throw at this game on this front is that the main character's facial portrait appears to be that of a rooster. A decision that seems rather baffling considering Clucks Fo Bucks is supposedly a powerful female lead.

I suppose some would question why I think this. And the answer is rather simple. While both roosters and hens have combs and wattles. The combs and wattles on roosters tend to be larger and brighter than those found on hens. And the comb on the top of Clucks Fo Bucks head is absolutely massive. As such, I think her portrait is probably that of a rooster instead of a hen. Though considering the nature of games like this. I really don't care that much about it beyond taking a footnote about it. In fact, if this game had more interesting visual flops or positives to talk about I probably wouldn't have spent this much time writing about it.

Conclusion

"The Most Dangerous Chicken" is a screwball comedy that isn't meant to be taken seriously by anyone. It kicks off with a massive bang and slew of crazy ideas like legendary wish granting cows, magical milkshakes, and magical rocks that can either doom or save the world at the discretion of their wielder. On one hand, I really can't bring myself to dislike this game. After all, it's not like I went into this game expecting a serious story. On the other hand, I felt like most of the jokes missed their mark and am not the biggest fan of swearing. As such, I really don't like this game that much either. I suppose in the end, a game like this is difficult to judge. As such, I'll avoid giving this one a rating and leave it up to others if they want to go on an insane journey as Clucks Fo Bucks, the legendary wonder chicken.
