Remembrance is the story of a woman named Kim who wakes up in a bizarre place with only hazy memories of her past and how she got there. Together with a strange, magic-wielding entity named Jesse, she sets out in search of what she's lost, as well as to complete the mission assigned to her that, in Jesse's words, is of the utmost importance.

As she recovers and reflects on the memories of her life, however, Kim quickly realizes that some of the more powerful feelings and impressions in her mind, despite their nostalgic familiarity, don't match up with any of her memories...

A Few Announcements (and 700+ downloads!!)

Hello hello, everyone! It's been quite some time since I last checked in here, heheh. I've been keeping very busy indeed with work on Remembrance's sequel, Permanence, but I'm nevertheless delighted to see that people are still finding, downloading, and playing through the first game! Over the past several months, there's been a few Remembrance-related updates that I wanted to share.

Firstly, there's a Russian translation available for Remembrance:

A huge thank you and kudos to bizDICK for volunteering to translate it and seeing it through to completion despite the reams and reams of text in the game!

Secondly, I've published the game's OST on Bandcamp:

In addition to Bandcamp being probably more convenient to use than Youtube for this, the tracks on there have been re-rendered for (hopefully) better audio fidelity. Between that and being able to stream/download them in a format other than the low-bitrate MP3s to which RPG Maker 2003 limited me, I figured it was worth mentioning for the 5 or 6 people who might be interested, heh.

Thirdly, I've been made aware of another completed Let's Play of Remembrance, this time by Adaru32:

Thank you so, so much for your continued interest in my work!

Hello I just sent you message with a nice gift related to your game, and when you have the time check it out have a nice XMAS suprise. And as always merry XMAS and a happy new Year.
your download count is right now or was 666 the number of the beast
Just finished playing this on my Vita, I think it's the first rpg maker game I finished. I liked the character building, pacing, atmosphere, and original take on this type of story. The writing is very good overall, and the only thing that irked me at times was the "analytical" style of Kim's monologue. It felt like reading a psychology book, maybe too explicit in its analysis? I'm not sure how to explain it, Actual Sunlight's writing left me with a similar feeling, as if there's not much left to interpretation. I would have liked more ambiguity. Great work. :)
Today marks the second anniversary of Remembrance's release!
I put together a little something for it on the Itch page:

I read your page and I can tell you this

I had no problem with your exposition it explains everything you need to know.

The monotomy of the gameplay to me is just a typical RPG move places, activate switches, fight monsters level up and etc.

the backgrounds to me makes the game stand out from a lot of rpg maker games and rpg maker horror games.

as far the ending being anticlimactic?
Outside of Ashley destroying the place Kim managed to find her inner peace and Umbra gave her the power to travel places and was accompanied by her Friend Jessie so she can continue searching answers about her past(therefore leaving a room for a sequel)

I mean listen lady I ones read a manga where everyone literally died
it goes like this humans discovered some monsters who want to destroy them and they get scared so much they kill each other to the point of being exterminated,
and the friend of the hero turns out to be the leader of the monsters and they fight and the hero dies and the villan gets sad because he killed his friend and because what he did was wrong.(know thats anti climactic)

seriously girl by your standard Mario saveing Princess Peach would somehow be anti climatic.

But still I love your game and you seem to hold some great talent for art;)
I don,t know how you feel about my comments but I see you have big interest in psychology I also have big interest in philosophy maybe we could talk after you make a newgrounds account because I em there as well;)
Kyou are you a Goth person?(assuming by your game Remebrence and characters you draw in black and pale skin).
You know what Kyou I feel very happy now its snowing and I got some very xmasy feelings

and here some song that Ashley would like to hear
